  1. Skrall slaps Althior on the back good naturedly, but still almost knocks him over, "Good work Althior, you are no longer on my list of mages never to work with again. Finnegan get your master a potion, he looks like he's going to faint and he certainly deserves it. That goes for the rest of ya too, if you've got a potion drink it, I'm already carryin' this trunk and I've got no room for a knocked out quester too." With that Skrall consumes on of his potions. Skrall walks over to the bandits, gathers the loot and hands everyone 20 gold. "Mr. Rone for your battle foolhardiness I give you this chain whip, it certainly has more range than your long sword, see what you can make of it. Namyrra you look like you could use this potion go ahead and take it." Skrall tosses the small green vial to the Fennarian and looks around the clearing inspecting for foot prints or signs of a large beast the bandits might have been leading away. OOC: Since Bob was the last in the order, he technically would have been knocked out by the Bandit's special damage and thus his potion would not have been used.
  2. To Dextrus Flagg, After my most recent travel to Qarkyr escorting a shipment of some of the new uniforms, I was delighted to see the hard work of the cities aviation program finally coming to fruition. The capturing and domestication of the local griffin population which inhabit the cliffs and crags of the Southern Rakath mountain range, is now almost down to a science. The hatchlings are captured early on and upon 2 years have reached their full stature and are able to bear a rider upon their back. Currently the city is using the beasts to serve in message bearing and scouting capacities, but the possibility is certainly there for aerial combat troops should the need ever arise. Also I am pleased to tell you that the restoration of one of the watch towers overlooking our border with the Eastern Darklands is in the works and should finish construction within the month. My next job is scheduled to take me and my men south amongst the dwarf tribes and the oil fields, I have heard news of the development of some sort of cavalry down there and I am intrigued to discover the short fellows' progress. Signed, Captain Hardiel
  3. Think about it, planes everywhere, it would be like Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade all over again, except this time there's no tunnel to hide in the open desert.
  4. Oh, I thought the propeller was the hidden invention the thieves were trying to steal. The introduction of mechanical aviation would certainly destroy the guild, dragons are bad enough to deal with
  5. "Finnegan do you happen to know CPR, the Rogue's looking a little blue."
  6. Nice build SI-Mocs, really inspiring. Thanksgiving break is coming up so my parts availability is going to increase 10 fold so I should be able to crank out a watch tower, right now I'm in the design process. Keep it up. K-Nut good job on our first complete tower, I really like the lion heads and I think they will go perfect with the rest of our architecture. The idea of the coast line is well done, personally I would aim for a more uniform tower over a taller one, but I do like the wall offsets with the little alcoves and would've liked to see it on the other side of the tower as well. Maybe some furniture as well? But a great start, somebody catch that Avalonian
  7. Skrall decides to try a different tactic he has been meaning to practice for a while. Aiming high up in the air and analyzing the trigonometry of the situation, Skrall shoots his arrow almost straight up and waits for the arrow to strike the bandit. As the arrow flies, Skrall decides to go and sit down next to Althior, "So, how did ya get to be a mage?"
  8. Feel free though my only request is that we're dealing with a semi-undead tribesmen not a band of maternal hill dwellers As to the architecture, I agree that the further south we go we could incorporate mid-eastern designs but don't forget about our east and western borders with their forest and mountainous regions respectively. I'm fine either way with the lion symbol and I agree the private financed armies will allow for some variation. I'm a factions man myself so I enjoy building giant armies with similar uniforms, so I may stick to the more inhabited areas of our lands. I see that the first challenge has been leveled, to arms fellow guildsmen and guildswomen now is the time to develop our architectural style.
  9. Don't forget about the dwarfs, someones got to pump all that oil. Nice combo SI-mocs I guess it is the best compromise we can manage for the moment, who'd of thought that the best way to avoid the Crownie or Lion like look, was to mash the two together. For those interested in utilizing mummy parts, I've been doing some more experimenting and thus: Hailing from the eastern Rakath regions of the Kaliphlin Guild, various bands of Mountain Mummies will sojourn near the local villages during the oppressive scorching months. Sporting bandage coverings from head to foot, the mountain mummies utilize their garb to ensure that none of their precious moisture is lost to the blistering, arid surroundings. No one is quite sure which race the mummies belong to, as none have ever been seen without their bandages, however, it is rumored that the mummies came to being when warlocks from the eastern darklands corrupted the burial chambers of the nobility during Quakyr's days as an early settlement. While the mummies pay no allegiance but to their chieftains, whom they revere as deities, they have sometimes been known to band together against invading forces from the Eastern Darklands. I do wonder when the Sand Queen's troops will arrive as I am anxious to meet them.
  10. "I'm glad to have ya back with us elf, now see if ya can knock that Bandit out with your needed respite. Althior I'd applaud your fine hit, if my hands weren't busy finishin. off this troublesome spear totin' bandit. Bob! My good house elf, I thought ya were dead. If you've still got some fight in ya, chuck some magic at that axe bearin' bandit. Finnegan see to it that the rogue is still breathin'." Skrall took out another quarrel, gently putting it into his crossbow and leveling it at the Bandit (Axe) from the back row. Battle Order: Namyrra Althior Skrall Arasmyth Bob OOC: Just a few notes, Namyrra last strike from last round against the Bandit (Axe) would have done 40 damage reducing him to 27 Health and since by me missing this round you mean I took aim, then I would have done 6 damage to him as well reducing him to 21. Finally since he was poisoned last round, he loses 1 health this round reducing him to a final 20 Health. Additionally, Althior would have done 46 damage this round to the Bandit Leader, since he scored a critical hit (WPx2 + Level)x2 for be darkness being effective against humanoids, thus reducing the Bandit Leader to 0 Health.
  11. Taken care of, thanks. I second the motion that Heroica get its own sub-forum, it would help keep all these mafia and heroica players straight
  12. Good work on the desert troops Mikey, I'm wishing now that I had bought more PoP when it came out. I'll keep on trying to get something more suitable with more recent pieces. The trick is coming up with something that on the one hand doesn't stray into looking like the Lion Knights and on the other not resembling the Crownie faction
  13. Not to mention if you had just gone straight at the first intersection in the catacombs. I so wanted to use my will-o-wisps
  14. Actually I never intended you all to visit the town-watch, the Bloodpaw Gang was more of a side thing, sort of like everyday life. You just happened to be at the same location as they were at several times, more like a coincidence than something that actually contributed to the story. It's a hard balance, but I think it's something we as QM's should strive for in providing both necessary information, as well as the superlative drivel and events that are just part of everyday Eubric life. There was an opportunity for a throwing axe, but you skipped over it in the catacombs. Besides didn't you end up with the most gold out of the group not to mention a free smelling salts and mead?
  15. Sorry that's just how it goes, there's got to be a catch to having that thing. Thanks also for waiting it to work before you finally found out that Julian was at Shrooft's. If you had gone there first thing and demanded to know where he was, the quest could have been over in a matter of days. Technically you did have a chance to explore it after you found Julian, but I'm glad the Party chose the more noble route in destroying the ingredients. Truth be told, I hadn't even planned on you destroying them, the point of the title was more of who would the party trust, the Order of the Crimson Crown or the Guild of Invision. In the end however it became more of what was worth more, the riches within the tomb or the destruction of a deadly pathogen? It was funny how many things actually I hadn't planned on that I ended up either reorganizing the storyline or doing away with parts all together. For instance, you missed two battle opportunities through out the quest and I hadn't even planned on the alleyway mugging that you all prevented. For those interested, the doom of all dooms:
  16. Alright so just a few quick thoughts right off the bat for what I learned from QMing quest 11: -Don't eliminate all Out of Character Comments. I've realized my pet peeve is not the existence of OOC but just the abuse of them. After observing the quest as a whole, I feel allowing more OOC might have helped lighten the mood of the group and allowed them to interact more. With that said, thank you to all my questers for faithfully following my instructions and posting your questions and comments in the Discussion section. The next quest I host, I will be a little more lenient on the amount of OOC allowed in the quest thread. -Build and photo all of your scenes before you begin the quest. I learned that doing this will help keep the thread alive, save myself a few hours of extra sleep, and overall contribute to a greater gaming experience. -Work on making battles a little tougher. Even though my Party had a few scrapes, they never encountered a real challenge such as Sandy's mirror battle, Brick Doctor's random monsters, or Cralegoboy's Crozen. -Give the party more concrete direction and possibly details, but don't railroad them. Toward the end of my quest I felt I hadn't setup everything to make the final puzzle more solvable and could only watch as my party trekked back and forth between all the locations except for the right one, not to mention their call for visiting Fort Bonaparte or the Heroica Library at one point. I'll do better at that next time. So those are a few things off the top of my head, if anybody has any comments, criticisms, or questions feel free to post them and I'll do my best to answer them.
  17. With their debts repaid and the onset of day, the Party heads back to Heroica Hall, they are watched as always by the cowled individual who once again slowly melts back into the shadows of the hustle and bustle of the busy port city. However, the Party has made truly heroic decisions, sacrificing riches and glory for a land that may never know the danger they had averted. I'd love to hear your thoughts over in the Quest Master Lounge Thread and I'll be putting up a few of my own notes and thoughts in there as well. Once again thank you, it was a pleasure serving as your QM.
  18. Julian looks up at Atramor and answers, "I had come to pick up the black book, but while I was in the back room here, the monkey man tied me up until those faceless men came and took me into the back of the catacombs." Doctor Mynatt replies. "A Cult trying to manufacture ze plague? How could zey have known about my research? Well, I can understand about ze loss of the ze items, my patron will not be happy, but I zink the Guild can work somezing out with zem. Monsieur Cronk, please escort zis miserable excuse for a book peddler wiz Ratabor to ze town watch, zey shall deal wiz him and ze Guild intends to press full charges." "Now my good sirs, I believe I owe you this." The guild formulist hands over 750 Gold to Atramor. 750 Gold Putting his arm on Julian's shoulder the pair bid goodbye to the Party. "Fare zee well, if we should ever have need of the services of Heroica again we shall be sure to inquire for you." The Party leaves Shrooft's, outside they are greeted by Gurnam teeth all a'smiling, playing with his filleting knife. "So, you found the little whelp. I heard the jangle of good business being done in there and I thought to myself that you all might be wantin' to settle some transactions of our own." Shall the Party repay the sharkling?
  19. The Party rushes quickly back the way they came leaving the smoldering pile of ingredients and text to be buried by the ensuing collapse of the tomb. Returning to the storage room of Shroof's shop, they are surprised to be greeted by Dr. Mynatt accompanied by Ratabor Mossycloak and Shrooft being restrained by a familiar looking face from Heroica Hall. "My good sirs, zank ze gods you are well. Julian my boy come here. Ze guild has been worried sick over your disappearance, well maybe just me, but still... Ah, and who is zis new friend you have acquired in your turban? Is zat ze Rogue's chicken? No matter, for now I am just overjoyed zat you are safe." "Gentlemen you have my gratitude, I had Ratabor follow you here and as you entered ze catacombs he was attacked by zis villain Shrooft. However, zanks to his previous experience wiz you gentlemen, he bested the metasimian and sent a messenger to me at ze guild hall. I quickly ran over to Heroica and grabbed the closest hero I could find, zat orc over there, I zink his name is Cronk. Anyways, we were just about to go after you, when we heard ze explosion and zen you appeared. Tell me hwat happened in zere? Were you able to acquire all ze ingredients? Zis fool of a book keeper, will tell us nozing." What shall the Party say? Party: Atramor Gibbin *Party Leader* (Played by CallMePieORDie) Level 10.5 Rogue Power: 15 Health: 16/16 Gold: 78 - owes Gurnam the Loan Shark 95 Inventory: Glass Dagger of... 20. "Well, well, it is good to meet all of you. My name is Captain Hardiel and me and my men serve as escorts for several of the popular trade caravans around these parts. As of the moment, we have offices in all three major cities of the badlands and currently maintain an A+ rating from the South Dwarven Clans Oil Production Oversight Agency of the Greater Siccus area. We have extensive experience in providing armed escorts, residential and public security, and some of my men, myself included have even served in the Kaliphlin Guild army when the need has arisen. Our services come at a price, but we are more than happy to offer discounts to Kaliplin Guild members." While men are less populous in the Southern Badlands, entrepreneurial groups can always be found whether working as caravan guards, starting their own oil production facilities, or organizing local human cultural festivities. While in other parts of the world humans may have found themselves at war with several of the races represented in the Siccus Badlands, survival has overshadowed the animosity and racial relations have improved steadily with the increasing wealth of the Kaliphlin Guild. Representatives from one of the local oil production facilities. These clans generally dress in lighter weighted fabrics compared to their northern brethren and favor the mattock over the axe as a melee weapon. Siccusian Dwarf bowmen are renowned for their amazing prowess with their short bow, rivaling even the elven archers of the West in an ability to size ratio. Historians still argue to this day whether the origin of the bow lay with the elves or the dwarves, but both still claim the legitimacy of their claims and annual tournaments are held on the south western border where members of both races meet to compete for fame and fortune in displays of archery prowess. Dwarves of the Southern variety are often found wearing cloth head coverings as opposed to metal helms due to the oppressive heat. Upon close inspection it may be discovered that most caps are originally brightly colored, however years working in the oil fields leads to the hat functioning many times as a rag in addition to a head covering, thus the pitch black state of most dwarven head ware. Captain Hardiel and Co. reporting for duty along with a representation of the Southern dwarven clans. So concerning Task 2, the elite army will be fairly similar I guess in armor and uniform, but since humans are not as prevalent in the South as other parts of the world, will the army be more of a mixed bag as far as race concerns? I'm not sure as far as part availability, but I crafted the dwarves and the caravan escorts in the vein of what maybe stationed troops might look like minus the race specificity. Keep up the good work everyone, I can't wait to see what else this project is going to unleash.
  21. Since I surprisingly had the most flags for the south, my allegiance will lie there. Thus Waterbrick Down is heading south to Kaliphlin.
  22. The boy's eyes widened at the mention of the magic chicken. "I've never seen a magic chicken before. Does it lay golden eggs? My master Dr. Mynnat would pay alot for a chicken that laid golden eggs. Here please take my bag, that masked man wanted it for someone. Do you know where my turban is, I saved up for 5 whole weeks for it. If I come with you can I carry the magic chicken?" Another tremor shakes the crypt. What will the Party do? There is only time for one. -Destroy the contents of their search and exit the catacombs before a cave in occurs -Explore the rest of the catacombs and return all the items to the Guild of Invision
  23. "Ju...Julian. I'm fff...fine. Is what they said true? Are a lot of people going to die because of me?" A slight tremor shakes the tomb from the resounding early explosives.
  24. Results of Round One of the Crimson Crown Catacomb Combat: >Tarn Valco vs. Turbaned Leader - Uses Mead & Hit >Atramor Gibbin vs. Turbaned Warrior (Sword) B - Shield >William Harkenshire vs. Turbaned Warrior (Hand Cannon) A - Shield >Elgar Gligin vs Turbaned Warrior (Sword) A - Critical Hit >Sir Glorfindel vs. Turbaned Warrior (Hand Cannon) B - Uses Nostrum Special Damage/Hit The battle begins with Tarn quickly consuming his bottle of Mead filling his limbs with vitality and ferocity. With his new found energy, the barbarian bats the hooded leader's cutlass away like a fly before neatly separating his head from his shoulders. Meanwhile Atramor dodging quickly around the Turbaned warrior's defenses slips his glass dagger between the swordsman's ribs ending his life, the rogue retreats back to his Party with the 14 Gold from the soldier's purse. William now quite experienced with making quick work of his enemies, rapidly fires off three shots in the blink of an eye wounding each of the three remaining combatants. Elgar, more attuned to quality over quantity, lets loose a tremendous shot striking the last sword bearing warrior straight through the heart. Elsewhere, one of the hand cannoneers fires off an explosive shot at the charging Sir Glorindel at point blank range. As luck would have it, Sir Glorfndel foresees the coming shot, rolls (quite a sight for a knight in full armor), and swiftly brings the finishing blow down upon the gunner. Turbaned Warrior (Hand Cannon) A Type: Humanoid Level: 3 Health: 7/14 Special: Explosive Shot: The early firearm explodes causeing the blind effect to the attacker and causing 2 damage to every party member regardless of which row they are in.
