Heroica RPG - Quest#9: Trespassers
Waterbrick Down replied to Masked Builder's topic in The Heroica Archive
"Or someone's generating two opposing magnetic fields with fluxes parallel to each other at such a distance that the sum of the partial fields yields a straight line bisecting the connecting line. Or it's as good at pointin' in the correct direction as you are at hittin' somethin' in battle Althior." Skrall heckled the mage innocently while leading the party down the left hand path. -

I think to clarify the situation, it should be stated that DN didn't cheat, at least not according to the rules, he just chose poorly on the information that he leaked. No one can comment on his motives since he hasn't posted them yet. For all we know he intentionally and innocently tried to employ reverse psychology by giving away his team. Everything beyond this is speculation and personal preference of game tactics. -

Mafia School: Cirque du Freak conclusion
Waterbrick Down replied to badboytje88's topic in LEGO Mafia and Role-Play Games
Good game to all who participated, it was fun watching you all go at it. Badboytj88 great idea on the whole circus theme. As far as the tactic of revealing other players' allegiances, I know that it's risky and should probably only be done with the agreement of the whole scum team, but sometimes it can throw an interesting wrench into the equation, especially if you know the noose is already tied around your neck. It's all one big game of guilt by association and reverse psychology and it obviously worked as neither Nightshroud or Etzel believed Darthnilus. As long as the info wasn't given after a player dies it's not illegal, however giving up information after a conviction has been reached is more up for discussion, since realistically the only reason people can spill their guts out to others, is because of the lag between a conviction being reached and the next day being posted. So it hinges on your definition of "dead" does it mean convicted or interrogated the next day? -
Yes I'm fine if you wish to purchase that upgrade.
-
It's an interesting idea that someone might incorporate in a quest, though this would give ice bombs and opal imbued weapons an advantage over the other elemental bombs/gems. So unless there was a price difference to balance things, we may have to come up with effects for the other bombs/gems, which may make things more complicated than they need to be. But aside from that it sounds like a cool idea and definitely more realistic.
-
Unfortunately no, at least not as the rules imply. The bombs only do elemental damage, similar to a gem infused weapon. Thus logic would dictate that an opal infused weapon would not freeze an enemy when damage was done. Also currently there is not a frozen status effect, so I'm unsure of what freezing an opponent would do in the first place.
-
Any weapon may receive the upgrade, some are a little more of a stretch than others, i.e. a hallow chain, but I'd rather keep the rules simple over ultra-realistic.

"Oh my aching joints. Well, well, heroes, I..." the werehound notices the dead bodies of the werewolf thugs laying on the doorstep of the shop. "Oh my, those are the brutes that were always coming round here with that protection racket of theirs. Serves 'em right. Gentlemen I am in your debt for putting a stop to those hoodlums. My name is Dillian and this is my son Gillian and my grandson Rillian." Rillian reaches over and whispers in his grandfather's ear. "Oh, sorry you had to witness my er... illness, but you know how old age and too many knocks on the head goes, right? My grandson here tells me you're after the boy from the Guild of Invision. He stopped in here about a week back when my son was off trading on the mainland. I gave him his Gnomish Fractionation Columns just as the Guild had ordered them and sent him on his way. Something the matter with him? Is he in some sort of trouble?" What will the Party do? -

Skrall shakes his head at Althior, "That mage screams as bad as my little Irksall and she's only 4." Attending to the frightened sparrow, Skrall relay's the message to the rest of the party. "Well apparently the bird saw somethin' or someone bein' taken from here presumably by our trespassers, seems you were right Dyric. Let's head back to the our mysterious treasure chest and see if that key of Althior's will open it." -
And not a pair of safety goggles between the both of them Lovely highlighting of the new brickforge elements as well as good figure combos. I'm a sucker for chemistry Moc's so I may have to get some of those vials for myself.

Heroica RPG - Quest #11: A Matter of Principle
Waterbrick Down replied to Waterbrick Down's topic in The Heroica Archive
QM Note: Since Jedi master Brick is not in probable danger of being knocked out this round, I am going to commence with the next round of battle. Results of Round Three of the Battle of the Weeping Cleric: >Ratabor Mossycloak vs. William Harkenshire - Shield >Atramor Gibbin uses Potion & vs. Werewolf Thug (Crossbow) - Hit >Tarn Valco vs. Werewolf Thug (Crossbow) - Critical Hit >Elgar Gligin vs. Werewolf Thug (Crossbow)- Aim >William Harkenshire vs. Werewolf Thug (Crossbow) - Critical Hit >Sir Glorfindel vs. Werewolf Thug (Crossbow) - Critical Hit To his utter amazement, Ratabor works a miracle for the party, restoring everyone to nearly full health. Atramor quickly drains the potion in his dagger's hilt refreshing him for the final strike as he finishes off the crossbowman. THE BATTLE IS VICTORIOUS! All Players gain 1 level of experience. The enemy drops 60 Gold and 1 Grand Potion. Party: Atramor Gibbin *Party Leader* (Played by CallMePieORDie) Level 10 Rogue Power: 15 Health: 16/16 Gold: 50 -owes Gurnam the Loan Shark 95 Inventory: Glass Dagger of... Hollowness (WP:5), Whip Chain of Pickpocketing (WP:6), Bone x2, Magic Compass, Pickaxe, Magnifying Glass, Shovel, Essence of Obsidian (Quest Item), Writ of Blacksmith Service, "Maladies of the Brick" (Quest Item), Elgar Gligin (Played by Jedi master Brick) Level 4 Ranger Power: 7 Health: 9/9 Gold: 20 Inventory: Bow and Arrow (WP:3), Smoke Bomb, Bedroll, Remedy Sir Glorfindel (Played by soccerkid6) Level 4 Knight Power: 7 Health: 13/13 Gold: 15 Inventory: Broadsword (WP:3), Lion Shield (SP:2), Potion x2, Bedroll, Nostrum Tarn Valco (Played by Rumble Strike) Level 9 Barbarian Power: 18 Health: 16/16 Gold: 57 Inventory: Kyrferath, a Battle Ax (WP:9, water elemental), Pole-axe (WP:3), Bottle of Mead, Lightning Bomb, Potion x2, Tonic, Venom, Smelling Salts, Grand Potion, Spell of Sleep William Harkenshire (Played by volcanicpanik) Level 4 Ranger Power: 7 Health: 9/9 Gold: 18 Inventory: Bow (WP:3), Smoke Bomb, Bedroll, Mead, Smelling Salts, Potion Party Leader how will the spoils be divided? 60 Gold Grand Potion x1 – Restores 25 health to the target. "Incredible, simply incredible!" The somber cleric approaches the party, "gentle sirs, you have opened my eyes to what my gift may really be used for. If you'll pardon me, I'm going to go stew on this turn of events over a nice cold bowl of cabbage soup. Oh and by the way, that old coot of a werehound bids me tell you that and I quote, "I have a little house in which I live all alone. It has no doors or windows, and if I want to go out I must break through the wall." What ever it means, I have no idea. Fare thee well." With a sniffle and a blowing his nose on his cloak, the odd cleric departs from the shop leaving the party in quite a befuddlement. What shall the party do? -
From my understanding, the staff will not cost the user any either to wield, and I assume that your knight/cleric will be able to use it when you reach level 15. Other than that, the staff should function like a normal weapon, i.e. it should have critical hits, hits, misses etc., except instead of doing damage equal to WP + level, it will heal equal to WP + level.
-
Sorry for the confusion, the equipped potion stored can only be used on the player not on the enemy and the weapon gains no special effect or elemental damage from having the potion stored in it. However if someone has stored a venom in the blade, they can use the venom on their weapon and then attack the undead enemy in the same turn doing no damage to the monster (i.e. because it is a normal weapon) but still poisoning it. As long as an item has been stored in the hollow blade, it has no effect on the weapon whatsoever until it has been used. I hope this clears that up. As to the recurrence of the service, that's up to the other QM's, if I ever do another quest in Eubric I may consider having the shop as a possible location.
-
I lean toward the integration of more fleshed out quests, even if they are slightly scaled down. Something more akin to Quest 6 but for a party of 6. Part of this comes down to QM's buckling down and running quests for the less experienced, personally I enjoy running intro quests the hard part is finding a balanced group since your pool of participants isn't as large as if you included the higher ups. But overall this is a necessity of the game, we're going to have level 1's and level 50's at some point and it can't be avoided, so we QM's should make it so both can participate, even if that means holding off on the epic battle against the level 30 undead demon dragon for the time being. That all being said, keep up the good work QM's.
-
Alright so I'll do my best to answer these. An item is simply stored in the blade, it doesn't give it any extra effect. Thus only 4 damage would be done. Also since you can only use the equipped item on yourself, you couldn't use that potion against an undead monster without unequipping the potion first. As to the venom, yes any poisoned weapon will poison an undead opponent, the initial strike may not do damage if the weapon is not gem imbued, but it will still poison them. That is my understanding at least. Don't forget about your questmates either, sometimes they'll remember stuff that you forget. That's what the Party's there for. Edit: Zepher beat me to it. See that's what fellow questers are for, in and out of the game.
-
Well one is now near-death, as I stated earlier, I'll let you do it this once, but after this battle, all hollow blade equipped items may only be used on yourself and as I stated earlier, only status effecting items may be stored, i.e. no bombs, spells, etc. If it's a liquid, it'll fit that's it.

Tarn once again goes into a battle frenzy cleaving down the sword bearing werewolf, chopping the axeman and his weapon to splinters and bringing the crossbowman within an inch of his life. William stands up recovering from his stunning and prepares to return to the battle at hand. The werewolf archer determining not to go down without a fight sinks another bolt into Atramor and while Glorfindel attempts to bring him down, unleashes another multitude of quarrels at the party dealing damage to everyone. "It seems we're missin' something, perhaps we're just not looking at this from the right perspective. Althior or Bob, can one you do some diggin' in the middle of that clearin'. I'll look around to see if any birds or such happened to have seen what was goin' on here." Skrall looks for any birds or squirrels to make conversation with. -
Since I didn't specify, I'll say yes for the moment, though if this was a functioning piece of weaponry, I would say that only you could use it unless you tossed your weapon to the other person which would take 1 round. Think of the hollow blade as a camel-water-backpack, if you want someone else to drink from it, you'd have to toss it over to them. That's my imagining of how it would work anyways, though come to think of it, storing a potion in your hollow blade right after a poison had been stored would realistically prove deadly. To move the battle along, I'll say yes for right now and leave the point up for discussion. Sandy or other QM's does this sound balanced should he be able to use his stored potion on another character?
-
Backstory helps, but that can be lost easily, since most people I assume just glance at your signature and make their assumptions from their. The more unique your character, the easier it is to keep from falling into those assumptions.

Tarn attempting to make ground on the archer of the group, is to late to stop him from delivering a multitude of quarrel shots upon the party, seriously injuring Ratabor and Elgar and annoyingly pricking the other members. William nocks and arrow to his bow string, but is overcome by the rushing sword swinging werewolf who violently knocks the ranger aside stunning him as he seeks to finish off the wounded Elgar. Elgar spying the oncoming villain lets loose a tremendous shot at point blank range significantly wounding the beast making him retreat to his own lines. Atramor, with new dagger in hand easily penetrates the axe toting werewolf's defenses giving him a bloody slice across his face. Glorfindel, his shield having saved him from a mortal wound due to the archers volley, attempts to finish off the gang leader, but misses his mark as the werewolf retreats to the defenses of his own party.
