Skrall walked into the arean and bellowed right back at the conservative ranger "And I Skrall the Ogre (Waterbrick Down) accept the challenge of this here Bartholomew Docken (Brickdoctor)." Skrall gave a few coughs as it had been a while since he had shouted that loud. As he lowered himself into the arena a small werehound arrived at the edge of the pit with Skrall's upgraded crossbow handing it down to him. Skrall smoothed his hand across the stock, pulled back the drawstring that strained under such torsion that only an ogre could draw, and leveled his gaze at the ranger sizing him up looking for any weaknesses. "So I take it we're actually shootin' at each other and not paper targets on the wall then? Good this is my kind of competition" he chuckled. OoC: Did RPGer formally accept your challenge from earlier? Also, if you want to run the battle yourself Brickdoctor I don't mind, I didn't know if there were rules about that or not, it would at least speed up the process, though we might collect quite a crowd if we waited.

Having returned to the hall, Skrall had stepped outside earlier to have his crossbow upgraded in the market place and had found one of the werehound children that played in the street to bear it there while he rested. He had sent along 100 Gold pieces and some smaller change for the child's trouble. Anwyl repaired the frayed cord and the scratches and dents that had been put into the weapon upgrading it to WP 10 for the price of 100 Gold leaving Skrall with naught but 8 gold coins in his satchel (108-100=8).

You would be the one to remember that wouldn't you It now seems like Docken has three challengers, he could probably take on all three at once and still come out on top

Skrall glanced up at the approaching individual in green. He sized the bowman up wondering at the sword at his side and the shield on his arm that glistened with an unearthly sheen which seemed to contradict the bow strapped across his back. "I don't think I've had the honor as well. What's with the shield my good fellow?" Skrall observed as another mage approaced the table, "Now hold on a second chap, I don't think a scrap between a magic user and a ranger is a fair fight, no offense to ya," Skrall commented to Docken. He mulled over his ale a moment before setting it down, "No tell ya what, we'll have a bit of an archery contest ourselves in this here arena and then the winner can have his go at this magic user, though I don't see the point of lettin' a spell flinger against an unwarded man."

Best doesn't necessarily mean the most respectable or even honorable to that degree, it simply was meant to encourage the more experienced heroes (Lv. 15 and up) to sign up. Time frame is maybe around 4-6 weeks depending on how fast people post, during my last quest everybody posted fairly often and the puzzles were solved a little quicker than I had planned for, not to mention the party basically skipped almost all of the final dungeon due to a certain person's magic compass. The quest will be set in Eubric Freeport for the most part and will feature some returning NPC's from my own and other QM's quests. It will be different dealing with all advanced classes but I look forward to the challenge.

General Discussion and Announcements
Waterbrick Down replied to Dragonator's topic in LEGO Mafia and Role-Play Games
Oh to be a noob again to be in such an awesome looking game. I can't wait to watch it all Sandy -
Skrall turned to his companion, "Speakin' of arena, I keep hearin' about this place where and what is it, is it some sodded place like Wren was runnin' or somethin' different?"
-
Skrall chuckled at the newcomer, "I wasn't aware there was a house of healin' of that name in Eubric, but then again I'm not from ariund here. Regardin' yer euqipment, ya'll survive with what ya've got. I started off in the sewers on my first quest with naught but a potion, smoke bomb, and the strength of my bow. You'll be fine if ya stay on the good side of yer cleric. The best way to do things is the old fashioned way of workin' hard for 'em."
-
"That depends I'm afraid I don't know you. Why don't you come keep a weary ogre company and tell me a little about yerself and then we'll talk about investin' in yer venture." Skrall ordered two tankards of ale and sat back as he waited for the knight to make his way over to the table.
-
Skrall glanced down as an individual with a torch strapped to his back walked into the hall and posted a note to the quest board. He called down to the knight, "Posted a new quest have ya? Why don't ya come up here and enlighten me with the details?" OoC: Yes you can do this, but I wouldn't expect many people to answer it without more information.

Alrighty, so I should have another quest ready to be posted in the hall in a week or so, but in the meantime, here something to wet your whistles. Quest Title: The Breakthrough Assignment: To the heroes of Heroica Hall: We are most excited to announce on behalf of the city of Eubric, that we would be honored by your presence at the unveiling of a historic demonstration of the conjoining of science and industry with magic and mystery brought about through the genius of the highly regarded gnomish inventor Moranis Szalinski. The event shall be held at the Eubric Common House and we shall require the service of 4 to 6 heroes to represent the best of our fair city. -- Party Requirements: 4-6 well accomplished heroes of level 15 or higher. Reward: The representative heroes shall be adequately recompensed for their time and shall receive (800-1200 Gold dependent upon the party size) to share amongst themselves. Also I thought I'd ask if there is something the PC's would like to see more of in a quest and I thought I'd try to work them in. Also if you're below Level 15, feel free to contribute as well, as I've got a smaller quest for newer heroes in the works too.

Skrall looked up and managed a faint smile at the approaching rouge. "Fruitless! That witch is harder to track than a white fox in a blizzard. Even with all my trainin' I still wasn' able to find a single trace, if ya ask me, I think it's part of that chaos magic of hers." Skrall took off his hat and leaned his back against the hall wall. "So what has been keepin' ya occupied since we last seen each other?"
-
Skrall the Ogre walked into the hall, his jacket was muddy and torn, his crossbow string tattered and his cap was missing quite a few feathers. He made sure to duck his head upon entering and took a seat on an empty bench and let out a long sigh.

I like it too. The acronym function is nice, but QM's have a hard time copying and pasting stats from them.
-
It would seem like this is an ideal time for Gurnam to set up shop again
-
Brick Doctor has already QM'd one amazing quest and is in the midst of conducting another, I trust that however he does it, it will be in the same fantastic fashion, he can handle it I'd personally like to wait and be surprised how he does it.

The hero gallery is great for keeping track of who was on what quest

Sorry, I was too caught up in one of my pet peeves to notice. This was a more appropriate place for the discussion anyways. I hope you both have smoothed it out now. Also, great story twist with the broom Sandy

I must concur, that is one of the greatest bits of text I've seen since Pie's introduction of his demon chicken or Boomingham's decision to become a paladin. Great job Khorne Again, the point is not so much that Alisha hit him or even misconstrued his response from her perspective, it's that you wrote what Monk Pretzel's physical response was, i.e. he was still standing and "seemed" to glare at him. If you want to have Alisha hit Monk Pretzel than just say that you hit him and then wait for everyone's response. If you really want to develop your character and you need a certain response from someone, then you should ask them privately before stating what they do in a certain situation. I understand that Alisha misconstrues things from her perspective but the actual action of hitting Monk Pretzel will yield a response that only he is allowed to give, in addition to the party.

After looking at his first Youtube hit on google's search, this is an absolutely perfect fit Since Skrall would probably have to be a voice over, or maybe some sort of motion capture in the line of Gollum/Andy Serkis, I would go with an older Sean Connery from his Indiana Jones years or LoEG.
-
In your case, most clerics have tended towards the gentler more calming persona of a healer. Monk Pretzel is more of a fiesty zealot first and healer second.
-
Skrall glanced around the hall, the time had come he thought to himself. Shouldering his crossbow he swallowed the last of his ale and bid his goodbyes. Smiling at the bar maid he commented, "I'll have to put our quiet evenin' on hold till I get back, I've got some unfinished business to do outside of town. If ya see any seedy lookin' individuals askin' for me, just tell 'em I'm off on a quest and they'll get their payment when I get back." With that, Skrall nodded to some of his former quest mates and headed out the door. "Now off to find that so called follower of Zoot," he muttered to himself as he headed north out of Eubric Freeport.

I've got to say I'm laughing my head off reading Monk Pretzel's replies, they are just too perfect. I actually enjoy how people are adding different dimensions to their characters, steering away from the stereotypes that the majority of others have played into according to their class. We are really starting to see some tension develop between heroes in both quests 20 and 24, I know we all want everyone to get along and I have no doubt that the players themselves do, but I think inter- character conflicts adds a deeper level of realism to the world of Heroica. So if you're playing an annoying or darker character, keep up the good job I like reading your posts but take care that you don't abuse the power to act like a mean or annoying character to actually be a mean or annoying player. To those interacting with these characters, remember that not everybody plays for the gaming aspect (i.e. win a lot of gold, defeat all the enemies, and get to the highest level), so an annoying or dark character in game doesn't always equal an annoying or dark player out of game that is trying to ruin your or your party's quest experience. In conclusion of this little rant on roleplaying, I can't wait for the chance to actually quest with some of you in character. It may be a while since I'm focusing on developing my next quest first, before signing up for another one, but one day Skrall will interact with you. Kadabra, those are great effects and if it's alright, I may utilize some of them in my upcoming quest.
-
Scuba can handle it however he wants, but I would go with the 8 since it heals for 10 and damages a normal user by 2 which would be the opposite for undead enemies. Cursed will be appearing shortly, after I finish up the preparations for my next quest.

Different hat as well. The one in the fish market has the new PotC hat, compared to the Miracle Worker's classic pirate hat.
