The Curse of IMHOTEP - Conclusion
Waterbrick Down replied to Pandora's topic in LEGO Mafia and Role-Play Games
I'm actually kind of grateful I was killed as I would have gone right on trusting you Tamamono. You were practically cleared in my book due to the bomb scandal/virgin claim on Day 3 as well as mentioning Pie as a suspect early on Day 2. I hadn't even taken into consideration that the you're virgin claim on Day 3 was a setup by Hinckley and I ended up shooting myself in the foot by revealing my role to you prematurely. By the way, I want to know who needed the timeline extension on night 4 as I thought I was safe to start sharing suspicions without the possibility of being killed for them as it was after the 24 hr period. Oh and for a little player commentary: Def: As always it was a pleasure playing with you, even though it almost got me lynched at one point. I wish you would have gotten more play time as you paired with Hinckley would have caused the scum to just turn themselves in, instead of trying to lie to their teeth to Hinckley behind the scenes. Hinckley: As this was my first time playing with you as a fellow player and not the host, I really wasn't sure what to think of your town leader play style during the day 2 and 3 threads. I was on pins and needles trying to figure out whether to trust you, and was all the time trying to setup other alliances behind your back just in case you turned out to be a cultist. Thanks for all your keeping me up to date, even if it was by alibis, I had a blast playing with you and know you were working just as hard as me if not probably more behind the scenes. Tamamono: Great job as the last scum I knew I was taking an ever so slight chance talking to you about suspects and my role, but had pretty much convinced myself you were town due to the fake virgin claim/bomb sting operation. You handled yourself pretty cooly, but looking back on things, I should have guessed something was up when your list of suspects basically mirrored mine with some slight alterations. Well played at the conclusion, even if your fate was sealed when you claimed neutral. Never stop fighting, you did your fellow scum-mates proud Scubacarrot and fhomess: You both stuck out to me as players who were relatively new to the mafia scene, but still held your own when it came to the day threads. Good job, I really look forward to playing with you both more in the future. Zepher: I have to join with Hinckley in saying how scummy you looked, I was almost 100 percent sure you were scum, you style struck me as so different from other games that I thought you had to be scum. Ah well, wish I could have played more with you. To all the rest of you, great job and thanks for making this such a wonderful experience. -
Heroica RPG - Quest#19: Let's Start a Riot

"I know how many I left with him, Felton. My point is how many Pogs remain? We're in a tight spot and I need warriors who can trust their leader, I can't have Vonnetate leadin' the rest of the men if they think he's a cannibal or monster." -

Skrall was still simmering from their loss and he wasn't about to take any backtalk from anyone. Turning to the rebel who had knocked McColt out cold Skrall raised the axe, "Ya leave the man alone, I don't give a sod about what you or that other hairball captain thinks. Ya brought us here to fight a war, and we're goin' to fight it our way hairball or no hairball." With that Skrall suddenly grins and turning to his companions he states, "I think I've just got an idea" and with that he whispers to his companions in a low voice. He momentarily looks up at Felton, "Vonnetate was in the fighting today, how many of his warriors are down for the count right now?" -

"McColt is no more a leader of the rebels than any of us are, it be kind of hard to do that in a Town Gaurd's uniform. As to this killin' one by one, Vonnetate's been doin' his job tryin' to root out the spy and he's only had "one" of 'em killed by a mistake. Now unless you've got any other objections Rone, I'm fixin' to do some splittin' with this axe." OoC: Just to refresh your memory, McColt is the Captain of the Town Gaurd and Vonnetate only killed one of the other rebel leaders because he thought he was a spy. -
Welcome, I'll do my best to answer your questions. 1. Yes, anyone can still join. Just post your character in the Heroica Hall thread, signup in that thread when a quest becomes available (available quests will be anounced on the first page of that thread), and have fun. 2. The only starting ranged weapon a Rogue can begin with is a throwing weapon, which must be retrieved every other turn it is used. The dart launcher is a conceivable weapon, but unfortunately you'd have to buy one (a renamed crossbow) and you'd have to be a Ranger to use it or a QM would have to give you one that was suitable for a Rogue. As the grappling hook doesn't exist as a weapon, I would ask specific QM's if you're allowed to use it, i.e. you can have it be part of you're character, but it's not really an inventoriable item, unless stated by the QM. 3. Go to your settings, then to the signiture setting, and put your picture's link in between and it will show up, the recommended size is about 100x100 pixels. Don't forget to include the rest of your stats and starting items. Some final advice, read through a quest or two, you can find earlier ones in the Library Thread, and also read through the rules at the beginning of this thread, they are pretty exhaustive, but if you can't find you're answer there, just post your question here and someone will be along to answer it. We hope to see your character soon

Skrall brushes himself off, "We could 'ave won the fight." Skrall angrily strides over and picks up the axe, tugs off McColt's gag, and towers over the captain snarling at him, "Give me one good reason, I shouldn't seperate yer head from yer shoulders right here and now. I've got plenty of new aches and bruises from yer gaurds and killin' ya would ease the pain a little." -
RIP Scooby Doo - Hinckley's code name for me in Pandora and Rufus's The Curse of IMHOTEP. Given to me by Hinckley after my death in the game.

The Curse of IMHOTEP - Conclusion
Waterbrick Down replied to Pandora's topic in LEGO Mafia and Role-Play Games
Yay Innocents! Thank you, thank you, Pandora and Rufus for such a great game. It was certainly a good twist on making vanillas useful and added a new layer of strategy to the whole thing. I'll say more later, but I wanted to tell everyone that it was a pleasure playing with all of you and I hope to do so again soon. -
I actually miss the anagrams which was part of why I signed up. But variety is good, good job in trying something different Zepher with the large battles, though I agree with Brickdoctor on maybe using some more strategy
-
Difficult This is murder. But seriously, this is how a real world would be and we should have expected no less. Realistically, no 6 heroes could defeat 50 troops on their own, they would simply be overwelmed, unless of course one of them uses a certain strategy
-
Actually, if Felton passes Tensi the pheonix smoke this round and she sticks to the back row, she could pull off a nur with rather high probability due to her shield and increased blocking power by attacking from the back row, provided, that Zepher doesn't send out higher level troops to foil the stratagy

Before he dropped to the ground from his wounds, Skrall shouts over to Tensi, "Tensi, have Felton pass ya the Pheonix Smoke and then stick to the back row till ya take as many with ya as ya can, yer shield should hold off most of the blows and remember Hans has some extra potions as well. Now go and..." and with that Skrall passes from consciousness. -
Just something to keep in mind for all of us, don't be afraid to let your imaginations run wild as well when it comes to choosing an advanced class. Who'd have thought we'd ever see Boomingham become a paladin, yet he has achieved a delightful refreshing revamp to the often stereotypical holy warrior. My point is, just because we think our character only fits one advanced class, we need not be afraid to use our creativity and storytelling skills to take them in a whole new and refreshing direction. I realize part of this comes down to how one plays the game, whether for the role playing aspect where in quests and character interactions will be the primary reason for selecting an advanced class, or for the gaming aspect where the purpose is to kill as many enemies, collect as much gold, and finish the most quest with whatever class makes that the most kick butt experience. Neither side is more right than the other and I'm glad to see recommendations being made to people based both on character development and stats/mechanics criteria. So continue on in this discussion, it has turned out to be quite an interesting one, though Flipz, maybe you should consider having Arthur start up a small entrepreneurial business just outside Heroica Hall offering free advanced class counseling for a small fee

One could argue that mystic knights are the same in that they can attack at full strength from the back row and still carry a shield, yet they have a unique shield roll ability, I guess I'd like to see the warden's shield roll more unique than just a slightly more vulnerable sentinal position.
-
Except against enemys who ignore SP, and don't forget knights, black knights, paladins, berserkers, and mystic knights, all can achieve this "win any battle they enter" as long as their SP is high enough.
-
Perhaps K-nut would be considerate enough, to start giving out gems from his unending supply, to dashing young rangers aspiring to follow in the footsteps of his beloved My point is that knights and paladins can do the same thing (albeit there SP has to higher), except they don't have to worry about their shield rolls being negated by an enemy who ignores SP, but yes I do see your point of being able to attack from the back row and have SP.
-
One can always come up with an enemy that ignores SP, however I'm not sure about the wording of the Warden's special, from my reading of it, I see it as their health is doubled while they absorb any attacks on the party, but it only lasts for one round not the entire battle. If it was the entire battle, that they gained a health bonus for, sort of like the berserkers' battle cry, then that would be rivaling of the knight or paladin epicness.
-
While the waden is intriguing, I feel that it is still over shadowed, by plain knights and paladins when it comes to functioning as a protecting role, I could be a warden in quest 19 right now and still be taken out by absorbing all the free hits with a shield roll, I guess the only advantage I can see, is the ability to attack from the back row with full strength and have SP.
-
I do wish we had a normal barbarian in this war but your boosted stats are helping a lot, I'm thinking that if it comes down to you and Felton, he throws you the smoke, and you just attack from the back row for the rest of the battle. None of the level 6's will be able to hurt you, and as long as you focus on the captains first, you'll have a pretty good chance of holding your own for quite a while.

Kaliphlin Guild: Homepage, Sign-up and Discussion
Waterbrick Down replied to Si-MOCs's topic in Guilds of Historica
Hello my good sirs, I have just returned from my escorting a load of black oil for some of the Southern Dwarf clans and I am pleased to see how many newcomers have joined this prosperous land. Due to my time being short (college classes and all) I have not had the opportunity to visit any of our fine embassies outside our borders, however I have heard of a developing griffin hatchery in Qarkyr and intend to stop by on my next visit. In the meantime, I would like to mention that I had the opportunity while visiting amongst the dwarf clans, to sit in on a negotiations meeting with a council of those somewhat mysterious inhabitants of our land, the mummies. The proceedings were conducted at one of the ancient abodes of the resident Tomb Kings, also present were representatives of the Eastern Mountain Mummies tribes, and a delegation of Ninja Mummies from the north western sectors of Kaliphlin. Of heated debate were the new labor contracts that were being offered to those residents of the southern badlands by a certain glass making facility. -

Skrall barks out at Dyric, "Forget the knife my good fellow, ya won't make it to it in time, before yer overwhelmed. Strike out with yer weapon, and hope that Haldor works us another miracle." OoC: Thanks, noted. -

OoC: My health should be 5 due to special damage and the free hits. Skrall glances at his companions, gives them a nod and then charges forward firing bolts off at Gaurds AA and BB from the back row. Battle Order: Tensi Felton Captain B back row Hans Captian C back row Skrall Skrall Dyric Sir Poletad Gaurd A back row Haldor -
Edit: Thanks Brickdoctor, I'll end my contributions here.

"Haldor, leave those troops to Sir Poletad, yer fine takin' out yer original target." OoC: Sorry for the confusion, I pictured the battle where the first group of troops targetted by our bombs were in the same area and Gaurd E was in the middle of them, thus when I say for you to accompany Sir Poletad, I meant spatially not who to target. In essense Sir Poletad is currently set to attack gaurd A, and I'd suggest you stick with your original target of Gaurd E.
