  1. OoC: I read them Sometimes Sorry Zepher, I couldn't resist Skrall watches as Tensi charges Rebel O and with a mighty heave, cleaves the soldier straight in two from head to toe. Rebel N stares in shock at his companion who folds like a peeled banana. With his guard down, Hoke rushes in disarming the trooper and ending his life quickly with a slash to the chest. On the other side of the field, the two Feltons again engage another duo, though this time with different results. As the uniformed Felton steps back to recover his strength (+5), the rebel leader Felton is to busy berating his cowardice to aim his strike accurately and he misses. Hans fairs no better as he takes a slice to the side (-4), but before he is killed, McColt finishes off his approaching advisory with an efficient militaristic series of jabs and cuts that render Rebel P to ribbons. Skrall is so busy watching it all, that he hadn't see the rebel AA breaking through the Town Guard's line and before he knew it the rebel had stabbed him and scuttled back to his own side (-4). Skrall then lifts his crossbow and shoots at the back of the retreating Rebel AA from the back row. Jess and Haldor both suffered wounds from their respective targets (-6 & -4), however their joy to be fighting side by side again may their wounds feel as only honey bee stings. Dyric, ever hesitant to join in the fray directly, attempted to entangle Rebel W with his chain whip, but either his aim or the length of his chain was lacking and he missed. The Rebels continued to advance upon the Party, delivering several free hits, but the Party observed that they were slowly but surely gaining the upper hand. Battle Order: Tensi Hoke Gaurd Felton Rebel A from the Front Row Rebel Felton Rebel J from the Front Row Hans Rebel K from the Back Row McColt Rebel M from the Back Row Skrall Jess Dyric Haldor
  2. At long last a throwing scimitar, built for an ogre. I for one enjoy players that role play even to the point of not making the most strategic move in light of their character's personality
  3. Sandy, as Skrall would never ask this question in character in the library I'll ask it here. Does Eubric Freeport have any sort of judicial system? I know that there are the 6 houses and the Town watch to keep some semblance of order, but is there an actual system of judges/barristers/legal councils in place?
  4. Zepher good job on wrapping up Quest 21 for the time being, short and sweet Sisco I hope your computer issues resolve themselves soon and you can join us once again.
  5. Skrall's hair stands on end with Tensi's war cry, bolstering his weary spirit. Haldor's miracle had patched him up physically, but the fight had been beginning to take it's toll on him mentally. Now, with the marked efficiency of a born archer, Skrall withdraws another bolt, winches the gears of the crossbow to their breaking point and let's fly at Rebel AA from behind his companions. Battle Order: Tensi Hoke Rebel Felton Gaurd Felton Hans McColt Skrall Jess Dyric Haldor
  6. OoC: Got it "Haldor, would ya make up yer mind whether yer goin' to heal Jess up, or just stand there admirin' her."

  8. OoC: Sorry Zepher, I'm a stickler when it comes to rules both for and against my advantage, kind of makes sense as I D&D surveyed as lawful neutral. I'll let you do your thing and just be quiet, I don't want Skrall falling into any acid pits or anything Now feeling at full strength, Skrall rallied the rest of his companions and charged the Rebel troops who stood at the ready. Quickly pulling a bolt from his satchel he fired it off at the nearest approaching troop from the back row. "Dyric, go ahead and take that captain out from the front row with that chain of yers while Hoke covers you!"
  9. OoC: I'm somewhat confused how Hoke both killed his target and took up the sentinel position for the second time, it should be one or the other but not both. Let me know which one he takes, though in my opinion I would say a shield supersedes a critical hit when it comes to the lucky effect. I'll switch Jess with Haldor should you decide that Hoke will not be in the sentinel position this upcoming round. "If everybody's in ship shape, let's finish 'em off. Step lively now everybody." Battle Order: Tensi Hoke Gaurd Felton Rebel Felton Hans Skrall Dyric McColt Jess Haldor
  10. Question, does an elemental weapon automatically assume there is a gem in it? I.E. Alf's Meteor Blade does holy elemental damage, but does that necessarily mean there is a diamond in it that can be removed?
  11. Correct, it would take the giver and the receiver of the item one full turn to transfer the item.
  12. We oger's have ways
  13. Skrall was sitting on the side of the battle field when a letter addressed to Jess landed near by. As Jess was currently engaged in combat with a rebel and thinking it might be important, Skrall retrieved the letter and had Sir Poletad read it to him. There was no signature attached but Skrall figured that the Z-mail system must have a return address somewhere, "Must be some nosy mage, though the part about Haldor sounds fairly juicy, I'll have to talk to him about that," Skrall thought to himself. <Sir Poletad, stamp me another letter will ya.> To whom it may concern: My apologies for reading your past correspondence to a certain Ms. Iszalti, as we are in a battle currently and I thought it might be of importance to our current situation. However upon having the contents revealed to me and seeing as how they related to my friend, Haldor the Nord, I must say that your impertinence is uncalled for. I would suggest you keep your insinuating comments to yourself from this point on. Should I become aware that Haldor has been defamed by some unknown personage, I will make it my personal duty to locate the offender, flay him alive, pickle his liver, turn his eyeballs into jelly, and exact on him such retribution he would rather have met Tarok the Destroyer face to face. And believe you me, as an ogre I would be most happy and capable to enact that regime of punishment. Have a good day, Skrall the Ogre By the way, I'd take him seriously, Skrall really isn't someone you want to meet in a dark alley. Transcribed by Sir Earl Poletad, Frog Paldin Skrall chuckled to himself "I've got Z-mail"
  14. Technically Skrall is seperated at the moment, he has to send child support back home from his quest earnings, but he's wife doesn't allow him to see the kids. I just saw a few parallels between him and Scheherazade, both characters are somewhat older and have grown up around orcish prejudices, each have dealt with those prejudices in their own way and achieved some semblance of a life, both are estranged whether physically or emotionally from their spouses, both don't really get to see their children, etc. And as the letter stated the meeting and intent was strictly platonic in nature Anything you hear about Skrall being a "player" are only annoying rumors spread by a certain earth mage Flipz is our resident expert on those, you'll see a link posted by him every couple of hours or so drawing a parallel between Heroica and one of them. But yes I do as well (read them that is).
  15. "Haldor, might I suggest ya tend to yer wounds this round, seein' how Hoke is protectin' us with his shield?" OoC: Strategy wise, we're going to have to heal at some point and when we do, we'll take more free hits since we aren't targetting anyone, on the flipside if we heal now, Hoke absorbs all the free hits and we only lose damage through bad rolls the following turn.
  16. I was wondering earlier what path Nur would take. Very keen observations on the Evoker class, I think we should all keep this in mind
  17. Hallo! You have reached the personal messaging system of Gurnam Needletooth, I'm not able to respond to yer letter at the moment, but seeing as how you've reached my personal Z-mail address, I am assuming you are interested in some of my specialized services. Thus, please leave a detailed message clearly labeled with the correct numbered heading for further clarification: For shipping and receiving of items both rare and unusual, please utilize label 1 For current long and short term loan rates, use label 2 For the quiet disposal of a certain individual, utilize label 3 For product and technical support, label 4 For the Skarkling resources department, label 5 Finally to hear this message again in Elvish, please utilize label 6 Please note that your answers will be recorded and anything said can be used against you in a court of Ennoc. Have a wonderful day, Gurnam Needletooth
  18. Skrall continues to watch as letters appear and disappear all across the battlefield. "Stranger things have happened I guess," he thinks to himself. As the brief interem between the fighting stretches on, Skrall prepares for the upcoming clash. Uncorking a potion, he drains its contents from the back row. "If any of ya are in the need for patchin' up, now is the time to do it, before them rebels charge again." Battle Order: Tensi Hoke Rebel Felton drinks potion from back row Gaurd Felton drinks potion from back row Hans drinks potion from back row Skrall McColt drinks potion from back row Dyric Jess Haldor
  19. Skrall glanced around him noting, the rebel troops had pulled slightly back in order to reform their line and had given the heroes some breathing room while Hoke took up the sentinel position. Tensi still pursued her target, while Haldor prepared to end a rebel's life before he could regroup with his unit. Suddenly, there was a woosh in the air as pink envelopes, parchment, pens, and inkwell's began to literally rain from the heavens. Skrall was astonished to see a wizard appear right next to him and explain some new fan-dangled method of communication. Before Skrall could ask that she at least throw a fire ball or something at the rebels, the wizard was gone. Skrall took all this in and leaned against a near outcrop of stone thankful for the break from the rebel's onslaught. He scooped up Sir Poletad who had been knocked out and brought him back over to their line. He sprinkled a bit of a potion on the frog, temporarily bringing him back to conscience, but no where close to combat condition. <Yer doing fine, mate, braver than most. You just got to keep out of the way of the rebel's feet more than their blades. By the way, I've got a small favor to ask if ya feel up to it. Would ya mine pennin' a letter for me, I can't read and can barely write my own name and I figured as a frog of the Paladin order, ya might have received some trainin' in the ways and letters of the bigger races.> With that Skrall dictated a letter as Sir Poletad slowly hopped about on the parchment, ink on one foot, stamping out the required characters. Scheherazade, You must forgive my impertinence, in writing such forward of a letter, but my Party and I are in the midst of a war and well; when an Ogre goes to war and his life is in danger, especially in such a big war as this is, a lot of thoughts start going through his head. Thoughts about life, death, purpose, dreams, and even regrets. I've got to say, the day I walked into Heroica Hall, I felt like the lowest of the low, a greenskin working for the very establishment that started out persecuting his own kind. Needless to say however, it was there I met individuals of such compassion and tolerance that I felt like things were actually looking on the up and up for folks like you and me. I know this may sound rather foolish coming from an old coot like me, but I was thoroughly impressed by how you have made a life for yourself in such difficult circumstances that are generally afforded to our kind in Eubric Freeport. I know that you must lead a very busy life maintaining the hall and what not, but I wanted to write to see if you'd be interested in a quiet evening of mulled cider, if that is, I should survive this nightmare of a quest. You may call my brains feverish or my wits scattered given my present situation, but I'm sure you get to a point too when the stress of waiting on everyone's beck and call feels like fighting a battle yourself and you just wish for a break. So what do you say, nothing special just strictly platonic, a chance to take a break from the skirmishes found on both the field of war and the candle lit corners of Heroica Hall. Respectfully, Skrall the Ogre Transcribed by Sir Earl Poletad, Frog Paladin Skrall thanked Sir Poletad for his efforts, sealed the letter in one of the envelopes lying scattered around and uttered the magic phrase, "I have Z-mail".
  20. Once you post in the Quest thread, you are generally not allowed to buy items from the marketplace. Some QM's provide vendors in the quest itself to sell you items, as can be currently noticed in your quest where a vendor is selling potions and tonics for 5 gold each.
  21. Ok, ok, I think we all get the point now. I think the point is that we all want to encourage Leo to take his time, go at things gradually, if he is a knight, then let him express himself tactfully where it concerns his love interest, not plunging full steam ahead like a barbarian in a china shop. But also let us remember, that it is Boy Wonder's character and he can play him like he wants to.
  22. Skrall feels the rush of vitality sweeping through his joints due to Haldor's healing, and he fires off a round at Rebel H from the back row. "Keep at 'em chaps, Hans, McColt, Feltons, yer almost through their front lines, once we break it, we'll try and split the rebels into smaller groups. Steady on, steady on, unless you have a fancy for bein' served as the first course on a Pogs' dinner tables." Battle Order: Tensi Hoke Hans Rebel A back row Rebel Felton Rebel D back row McColt Rebel E front row Gaurd Felton Rebel F front row Skrall Dyric Jess Haldor Sir Poletad Rebel AA back row OoC: Rebel AA should be at 19 health due to Sir Poletad's hit.
  23. I'll say it here since some people don't like attention being drawn to their roleplaying until it's reached its fruition, but I'm really enjoying the characterization you're putting into Eric in Quest 15. Keep up the good work.

  24. Forget Ellaria, I'm starting to wonder what's up with En Sabeh Nur
  25. I'm with CorneliusMurdock on this one. It again comes to a matter of how you play the game, players who emphasize on the role-playing aspect are less probable to switch advanced classes very often and thus a price for changing it wouldn't really affect them. Conversely, players who like the gaming aspect of Heroica RPG, will probably switch their advanced class more often in order to gain advantages in certain situations and thus the price for changing it would limit their play style. Thus in order to keep the most people interested, I would agree with their not being a price for changing advanced classes. Perhaps once people reach the next level of expert classes, those can be permanent or have fees associated with changing them. On a slightly tangent topic, after reading some more D&D stuff, I vote that whenever we get around to Heroica RPG 2.0 we include a bard as one of the starting classes, that would be epic
