Results of Round Four of the Battle with the Bear: Jess Islanti Frees Haldor >Bartholomew Docken vs. Enchanted Bear Skin Rug - Hit >En Sabah Nur seals Enchanted Bear Skin Rug - Sealed Not Sealed >En Sabah Nur vs. Enchanted Bear Skin Rug - Special Damage Confuse Lord Lawrence Boomingham vs. Enchanted Bear Skin Rug - Critical Hit Haldor Skovgaard is freed by Jess Jess dives in after Haldor and moments later carries the freed shaman back to the ranks of his Party. Docken, composure regained fires of a shot straight into the beast's eye causing to cry out in pain. Nur reading from his Scroll of Sealing deftly seals the beast on his first attempt! Adding insult to injury, Nur conjures the dust in the room to form a miniature sandstorm around the bear's head confusing it. Seeing an opening, Boomingham leaves a ragged tear in the beasts neck that sizzles with the heat from the fire elemental sword. Determined as ever the party continues their assault upon the possessed carpet. THE BATTLE CONTINUES! The Enemy: Enchanted Bear Skin Rug *Sealed* *Confused* Type: Beast Level: 20 Health: 1000/1250 Defense: 2 Special: I. Maw of the Beast- The enchanted rug actually swallows its attacker. 2. I initially had Skrall set as the youngest of his family, a single bachelor Robin Hood of Ogres, somewhere between his introduction and his 2nd quest I found out he had a family. Question about sealing and confusing from a QM perspective. Was it determined that Sealed enemies no longer can use their specials? Also a confused enemy will have a chance to act against it's own side only if damage/special damage is rolled or if there is a free hit, correct?
  3. QM Note: I forgot last turn that Bartholomew shouldn't have been able to act because he was being pulled out, which then effects the special on himself and then Haldor among a slew of other things. As Docken was also being revived last round, I'm going to let it slide, though Haldor will not be able to attack on the same round he is being pulled out based upon the rules of the special from now on. Yup, it's allowed since you're hastened
  4. Skrall chuckled, there was that word noble again, he wondered what exactly he had done to deserve the title. People were all too eager it seemed he thought, to be dispensin' such titles around here, not until he had really gotten to know the individual on a quest could Skrall feel he could accurately judge character and even then it was a tricky business. "Nay, Wren is the name of an ex-hero of this vary hall, her where abouts are currently unknown, but she has a knack for stirrin' up trouble and destruction in her wake like an owlbear missin' her cubs. But yes, magic users are tough ones to deal with, whether fightin' with 'em or against 'em. Lion knights ey? I just signed up fer a quest sponsored by some of 'em, I don't recall them being from around these parts, what were yer dealin's with them like?"
  5. Results of Round Two of the Battle with the Bear: En Sabah Nur Frees Bartholomew Docken from the Bear Skin Rug En Sabah Nur uses Phoenix Essence on Bartholomew Docken >Bartholomew Docken vs. Enchanted Bear Skin Rug - Special Damage (Rage of the Beast) Lord Lawrence Boomingham vs. Enchanted Bear Skin Rug - Shield (Guardian Angel) Jess Islanti vs. Enchanted Bear Skin Rug - Damage (No Assassination) Haldor Skovgaard vs. Enchanted Bear Skin Rug - Special Damage (Maw of the Beast) Special Guard fails En Sabah Nur rushes forward and drags the limp Docken out of the beasts jaws while at the same time reviving the Party leader with a Phoenix Essence. The Rug roars at the escaping ranger, slashing his claws at Docken, but the warden's shield comes to his aid absorbing most of the blow. Docken remains Afraid in the back row, intact but still shell shocked from the experience. Barty now in quite a tizzy with how poorly the heroes are performing, works himself into a conniption as he uses his limited angelic powers to shield the party for the next round. Jess attempts another assault upon the rug, but stumbles back as the beast inflicts a gruesome gash upon her side. Haldor concerned for his wounded love steps in to ensure her safety, but unfortunately steps too close to the beast and is himself trapped within the enchanted rug's insides. The enemy is still strong yet the Party is gaurded from all harm for the next round. THE BATTLE CONTINUES! 6. As Brickdoctor is being revived, I don't mind him submitting an action order that way I can get the next round going
  7. "Well I was out on the hunt a few weeks back for a witch, name of Wren, perhaps you've heard mention of her name 'round here. Proved fruitless though, she must have some magic or another preventin' her from getting any unwelcome visitors. I've always been partial to the bow, and the life of a Hunter seemed to fit, hopefully it'll prove more useful in winnin' me some more funds, not everyone can keep away their own unwelcome visitors forever. The name's Skrall by the way, what 'bout yerself, where do ya hail from and what be yer story?"
  8. Results of Round One of the Battle with the Bear: >Bartholomew Docken vs. Enchanted Bear Skin Rug - Special Damage (Maw of the Beast) Lord Lawrence Boomingham vs. Enchanted Bear Skin Rug - Meditate En Sabah Nur consumes Smelling Salts >En Sabah Nur vs. Enchanted Bear Skin Rug - Critical Hit Hit Jess Islanti vs. Enchanted Bear Skin Rug - Critical Hit (No Assassination) Haldor Skovgaard vs. Enchanted Bear Skin Rug - Extra Critical Hit Docken perched upon the back of beast is suddenly shook off and to the party's horror, swallowed alive. Boomingham prepares to attack with the King of the Desert but all of the sudden seems lost in thought whether meditating upon what to do with the Party leader now indisposed or Barty's opinion upon selective killing he regains 1 ether though he is already full. Nur, Jess, and Haldor rain down incredible blows upon the rug. Nur pulling loose brick and mortar from the walls unleashes a deluge of stone and dust upon the beast. Jess hacks away with her longsword while Haldor attempts to crush the beasts skull with a mighty stomp. To their dismay however the party realizes that while they are pummeling the rug Docken inside is taking quite a beating, his muffled cries growing softer and softer until he is unfortunately knocked senseless from his Party members enthusiasm. 9. "Yer on your own for this one ranger." Skrall turned back to his pipe and cider, surveying the hall and letting his thoughts roam.
  10. Skrall chuckled, "Hold on, hold on, ya lost me at fractal young sir. Ya know what never mind... ya can't teach an old Ogre new tricks ya know. I'll just leave the dimensional hocus pocus to you youngsters." Skrall drew on his pipe letting out a sour smelling smoke ring that wafted toward the ceiling. "Sorcerer eh? Have ya by any chance met the dark mage En Sabah Nur? He and I quested a while back and I heard tell he had gone into that sort of thing."
  11. "Planes, so ya grew up on a meadow of sorts? Ya always struck me as more of the Tower dwellin' kind. Yes, there's nothin' like workin' fer yar own needs to teach ya the really important things in life, the rest is just frilly hats and baubles on the sleeves. Speakin' of frills and such, I heard ya've become the apprentice to the Mage Althior, ya going to be followin' in his footsteps in Sagery one day?"
  12. Skrall looked up from his ram-horn pipe. He gazed at the bound manuscript before taking it and stowing it in his satchel. "Thank ya, young Arthur. I'll look after the book and if ever the occasion should arise that I can offer assistance I'll do my best. I'm hopin' as well to be off on a quest again soon, my gold's startin' to run low and well an any day now I'll be expectin' a visit from one of those collectin' agencies from back home."
  13. You will still have to beat *rimshot* the rug, but I won't have anyone say I don't reward creativity in some manner
  14. Flipz is right, I actually should have covered more of my bases. Thus for insightful game play on the part of Brick Doctor, the problem has been rectified albeit slightly.
  15. The Party perceives that Balthazar has been stifling for quite some time in the rug and only upon defeating it shall he be released. With a mighty burp the enchanted rug belches forth allowing the party to catch a glimpse of the ensnared mage. Docken figures that if 4 of the heroes link hands they can fish the elderly gentleman out of the maw of the beast though they will all lose 1 turn doing so.
  16. Yes Heroica and Mafia does seem to distort the scale a little bit, but thanks anyways.

  17. Actually taking into account that the entire party can do 220 damage simply by rolling hits in one round, not to mention Nur being Lucky, having 2 cleric and 2 knight base classes, and the chance for a 1/6 assassination, I should imagine it shouldn't be terrible. Hopefully
  18. OoC: Sorry got called away to dinner, this is Heroica not mafia after all. Nur realizes that what he thought was a potion, is merely a lamp illuminated by some bioluminescent creature contained within. Boomingham attempts to throw the rug away but to his surprise, it actually attempts to take a bite out of his arm! The party can hear a faint call for help and realize that Balthazar Bluehood is actually inside the rug! PREPARE FOR BATTLE! The Enemy: Enchanted Bear Skin Rug Type: Beast Level: 20 Health: 1250/1250 Defense: 2 Special: I. Maw of the Beast- The enchanted rug actually swallows its attacker. Any enemy not targeted will get a Free Hit on the party after everyone have acted.
  19. Docken looks in through the door in the back and finds only a small modestly furnished bedroom with nothing of importance.
  20. It's a bear but ah well Yes I still crack up thinking about that riddle where I think it was Haldor who goes and jumps off a cliff?
  21. It is kind of in poor taste to tell one QM to hurry up so you can go get into another quest, just my opinion. This isn't aimed at you specifically Bricksandparts, but I think I've seen this sentimentality in other quests as well.
  22. There is a slight sound, but the Party is unable to detect where it is coming from. The party realizes that they will have to search around in order to find Balthazar Bluehood. QM Note: Please state in bold where you would like to search and please be specific. It may or may not be helpful to remember that Balthazar is a mage.
  23. Skrall scratched his head, he hadn't thought about it much before, hadn't needed to. "I guess it would be what ya consider the opposite of order, the things workin' the way they shouldn't, destruction, pandamonium, no right or wrong, black nor white, an absense of peace, and all that calmness mumbo jumbo they talk about in the Temple of Ennoc. Fer me it's simply things workin' the way they should. I shoot an arrow, it flies straight and true it lands where I aim it, mind you assumin' there ain't any wind, no one's disrupted me shot, and no mage is fiddlin' with the bolt. Bother, I'm too old fer this high minded philosophyin', why don't ya ask yer master, I'm sure a great sage like him has the answers to the universe thus far. All I know is from my experience with Wren, she claimed to be an agent of chaos and what I saw of the results was enough to set me against her."
  24. "You've got a good head on your shoulders barbarian, you wouldn't mind stopping by now and again to have a chat with me would you? Balthazar rarely speaks a word to me these days, if you're going to have an enchanted watch door the least you could do is provide it with some conversation right? Go ahead in, the doors unlocked, always has been. Thanks for the entertainment chaps." The party trying the latch find that it is indeed unlocked and enter the quarters of Balthazar Bluehood. What would the Party like to do?
  25. Skrall was musing over a tankard of warmed cider as he heard the Arthur pose his question. "Politics," he thought to himself, "looks like we've got an anarchist on our hands." Skrall thought about his older brothers and the Orc Liberation movement, they didn't care about houses only results. Skrall remembered family gatherings when his older brothers would fight with his younger siblings who attended the university and talked about philosophy, altogether it had bored Skrall but he decided to speak up anyway. "I think you would see us ridden into the ground tryin' to hold everythin' together. The houses are the planks that keep this ship of a city afloat, the Town watch is a joke and it's we are the tar and pitch that keep the planks and boards stuck together. Do away with the houses and chaos would rule, I'm as much against the back dealin's and corruption that's sure to be lurkin' within the closets of the houses but compared to the alternative, I'd rather have a quest to do here and there over a tryin' to keep peace amongst thousands of individuals."
