  1. Quick question, if a player rolls a MISS when using a throwing weapon, do they still need to retrieve it?
  2. Round 2 Mizuki Kimura vs. Alexander Vandangant: >Alexander vs. Mizuki - Hit (Mitzuki: 13 health-(5/2=3 damage)=10 health) >Mizuki vs. Alexander - Miss Alexander lets loose his arrow and hits Mizuki squarely in the thigh. 3. "Or she's dead, not really a pleasant reason."
  4. Crossbow Upholsterer- Not quite sure who it came from, but it's probably in reference to my character in Heroica RPG who's constantly unholstering his crossbows gunslinger style.

  6. Skrall poked through the black ooze grabbing the gold that remained. He tossed 40 to Thothwick, and Haldor, keeping the 40 for himself and handed the remainder and the grand potion to Dyric. "We'd best see if we can find Ms. Nyx," with that Skrall led the group back to where they had split up and tracked the battle mage.
  7. 1. I tend to have seasons of sickness, but am currently on the mend and feel up for such an exciting voyage. 2. I have had the opportunity to travel to many a fine location, including a land populated by talking animals, the inner city, Asgard, outer-space, and most recently a dude ranch. 3. I prefer things to be simple, but now and again I slip my Hawaiian shirt and aviators on and am ready to tackle anything new and exciting that comes my way. 4. I don't need a vacation, but I would very much enjoy one.
  8. 10. Yes I am, as long as I'm in the midwest for a job I should be there. I'm toying around with plot ideas currently.
  11. "Well done Dyric. Let's finish off this last beastie and get on out of here. Phil move in, full out assault." Skrall set a bolt in the crossbow and took aim at Chaos Beast D from the back row. <Poletad, go for the legs of that last one, but make sure ya keep yer distance.> Battle Order: Dyric Skrall Haldor Thothwick Phil Poletad
  12. OoC: Zepher, I'm assuming Dyric didn't assassinate anything? "Well Dyric, 'bout time ya hit somethin'." Skrall reloaded and fired again. <Same plan, Poletad. Go ahead and heal the first one of us to take damage from the back row, join Phil from the back row if we're all intact.> Battle Order: Dyric Skrall Phil Thothwick Haldor Poletad
  13. Gurnam would probably be a rogue. Actually a quest specifically played by villains might be something very interesting indeed.
  14. I've considered having Gurnam getting caught in a black market scheme and having to join Heroica, so maybe they'd get along.
  15. Exquisite maps Sandy! If you'd like to, you can add the Inn of the Winking Gargoyle right across the street from the cemetery as well as Sem's Sensible Investments next to the Academy of Enlightenment.
  16. Thanks Zepher, I enjoyed the "QMing my QM" aspect as well. It never hurts to have a little leverage in your back pocket. I agree with you a little on timing, unfortunately it couldn't be helped. Perhaps some of the battles could have been sped up by auto-rolling but I generally dislike doing that, especially when there are so many various strategies that a party could use on any given round such as in the last battle. With 3 players it can also be challenging especially when you're trying to keep a conversation feeling like it is flowing naturally. If I'm in the mid-west this summer, I will be doing a live quest at Brickworld in Chicago, and I know that that will definitely provide the role-playing speed that some people enjoy.
  17. Here we go, first off thanks to you all for participating, I actually had an enjoyable time QMing this quest and I hope you all had fun as well. This quest was actually put together on the fly, someone put out a quasi-request for a quest about 2 months back and after about a week of brainstorming and rushed building Quest 54 was born. It's funny looking back on how the quest changed over time, I had a structure with beginning (Spinnetus), middle (Grumpkins), end (Warehouse), and the rest of the details kind of filled themselves in as we went along more or less. It would have been nothing though without such great PC's however and you are the ones who really made the quest come alive, so thank you. Thank you as well to all the rest of the QM's for the loaning of your characters, settings, and items it really helped get this quest put together so quickly. This quest was supposed to be more of a nostalgic quest, giving nods and asides to some of the great characters and locations we have built up in this world we have created, I hope it succeeded. Player Feedback: Boomingham/Zepher: As always, it was really great to have you along. I love how you role-play during the battles and your interactions with the NPC's and your fellow PC's were superb and it was always a treat responding to you through the lens of another character. Your battle orders and strategies were always thought out and it was fun trying to come up with good challenges for your party. Ellaria/Sandy: Thanks for coming along and being my spell-check as far as the battles go, it's always good to have a second pair of eyes reviewing all the calculations. Your role-playing as well was top notch and I loved how you developed the relationship that Ellaria has with Boomingham. She is really starting find her feet in the world of Herocia and it was really neat watching that happen in this quest. William Harkenshire/Fred Daniel Yam: You were sort of the Docken of this group say little and get the job done. I know people have different playing styles, so even though you didn't do a ton of role-playing, if you had an enjoyable time then I'm happy. That said, you did a good job helping with the puzzles and contributing towards making your Party as strong as it could be. Self critique: I wanted to look at how I critiqued myself after my last quest and see if I improved: -I was more pleased with how this quest ended as it didn't feel as rushed and felt that the quest was a good mix between being plot-driven vs. a mystery. The quest was originally planned to be about a month long, but due to the fact that we were all in different time zones, it was somewhat challenging, but we still covered a lot of ground in that time if you look back in retrospect. -I believe the battles were a little better this time round. The first one was meant to be challenging with just a little peril, the second a fairly easy battle with a twist, and the last one difficult. Looking back, I think I might have set the enemies' health a little too high, but the difficulty of the battle also stemmed from some pretty poor rounds for the party. This time round I aimed for designing enemies that tried to take advantages of the party's weaknesses and I think it was successful, however I might have gone a little overboard in the last battle. -As I said, length was a little challenging due to time-zones but I felt pretty good about it overall. -No complaints on photography this time, I did a little better in making sure I had models made for all the scenes ahead of time and I do have to give some of the other QM's credit for certain designs as well as previous scenery. Memorable Moments: -The argument with the Rocklings (Apparently some characters are still a fan of "big business" ) -Ellaria's guessing what Grumpkins are afraid of (by the way the word was "Birds", Grumpkins have a thing with chickens especially ) -William trying to rob the Harbor Master blind. -The cadet fight (actions have consequences, remember that heroes ) -Boomingham's speech against J. Smith (who am I kidding, they're always epic ) -Boomingham working to get Plud a job.
  18. Boomingham hands the note to the Grumpkin and the Party bids farewell to the pessimistic vegetable as they head back for Heroica Hall. Even though they had failed to completely end the trouble caused by J. Smith, they smiled knowing that through it all, they had done their part to forestall evil in Eubric in their own little way. 19. "The Cathedral of Commerce? Could use a job now that Spud's gone, though I suppose the priests are probably part of a secret sect of vegetable mashing mani..." The Grumpkin glanced at the disapproving looks coming from the Party. "You know, I bet they're right decent folks, just like you all are. I'll take you up on your offer sir and most gladly."
  20. The grumpkin smiled rather sheepishly. "Oh! I'm sorry mam. We grumkins tend to be on the bottom of most food-chains, got to stay suspicious you know, for survival. Well it seems Spud can finally rest in peace. Thank you Heroes, thank you from the bottom of my 3 hearts, I'm sure I can sleep with one eye closed at least now."
  21. The Party makes its way back to the Grumpkin commune, where they are greeted by a familiar individual of the afore mentioned species. "Oh I get it, you've changed your mind and now you are actually here to do me in."
  22. All of the houses seem to have their pros and cons. Yes the Bonapartes seem the most lawful, but only because it profits/is in their best interest to maintain the safety of the trade-routes and the city.
  23. Spinnetus rustled around at his desk before handing each of the heroes 25 Gold and a Nostrum. "We have our fair share of apprentices, but if you are aware of an individual who shows gumption for the service of Mercutio, I would not mind taking on a steward myself. You'd best let your man know however, that the life of a priest in the service of Mercutio is not an easy one and requires both discipline of the intellect as well as the body." 24. "Well, I believe our agreement did depend upon you returning my cloak and it looks like I'm going to have to go out and purchase a new one. However, since you have relieved me of most of my worries, I'd be willing to pay you each 25 Gold and a Nostrum. Does this sound adequate?
  25. "Oh dear! I thought you folks dealt with thieves and the such? To bad about the cloak though, it was one of my favorites."
