Slightly, you're proposing that we do away with the houses and move onto a more modern form of government. Remember those things just don't happen over night though. As always Sandy, 58 was a lovely quest, nice and short and with enough twists and party conflict to keep things lively. I can't imagine the difficulty of balancing for 2 raiders using the MNSS strategy, but I think you did a pretty good job at it. The amount of freedom you gave the PC's in determining the fate of Heroica was inspiring and really helped to contribute towards the collective contribution aspect of this RPG. As far as builds and NPC's, I really liked the tavern, especially the were-gators and the development of Hestia and Nemo as well as the Bonaparte story-line was delightful to watch.

Remember those Chaos Regulators and Skrall also have a 2/6 or more chance of getting knocked out by either a roll of damage or special damage.

Heroica RPG - Quest #53: Chaos in Eubric
Waterbrick Down replied to Zepher's topic in The Heroica Archive
The fumes of the Phoenix Incense seeped through the air reaching Skrall's nostrils. The ogre awoke shaking his head, "What a mess. Love what you've done with the place, Cronk." Skrall reloaded his Hunter's Crossbow and hefted it in Wren's direction from the back, "Now where were we? Ah yes, my satisfaction. Hans, Felton, you up for another go at the witch?" -
I thought breaking the system was the number one priority of the player.

OoC: Again, just in case Skrall is revived he will attack Wren with the Hunter's Crossbow from the front row. Felton nodded in agreement and attacked from the front row. -

Felton swings at Wren from the back row, "So is someone going to throw that bomb?" -
Not sure if that's something you should advertise.

I'm generally a must build in RL kind of guy, but What was the render time on something like that?

Hans swung his sword overhead before charging at Wren from the front row. "Whatever you say Cronk." -

OoC: I don't believe the current plan is to use the Phoenix Incense currently. Felton shouted over to Cronk, "Cronk, you might want to put Vipera before Skrall that way if anything bad happens prior to that, he won't be affected by it." -

OoC: Skrall will attack the Chaos Beast of Death Wren from the Back Row with the Hunter's Crossbow if he is revived. Hans and Felton both hefted their swords at the second beast of life from the back row. -

Skrall grunted as the blades of ice pierced his side, he sank to one knee before blacking out. "Looks like I get to take the first nap..." -

"Let's focus on surviving first, Rone," Skrall released his bolt, "shawarma and chatting afterwards." -

The rage building inside the ogre settled to a dull throb, "Thank ya, young Regulus. I agree, the battle field ain't any civilized place for a lovely chat." -

Felton nodded in thanks to Thothwick as he accepted the saber. Skrall called out, "Anyone got a moment to spare a Remedy? Cronk, I don't think I'm hastened enough to be actin' twice, just so you're aware." -
It's part of the cat statue, they're allowed to make snippy comments.

OoC: Got it Zepher. Skrall shook, his rage building as he was again thwarted in his efforts to end Wren "Stay in one place ya blasted fiend. I'm goin' need a remedy and a heal, if ya want me survivin' a hit from this witch. Felton, I'd suggest ya get a suitable weapon back from Cronk. Hans, you're with me from the front, if there was ever a time to regulate some chaos, now is it." Skrall reloaded his crossbow and fired at Wren from the back row if he was remedied. -
Great interpretation MDM, I think the smugness suits her.

"I've got the soddin' witch covered." Skrall spat the words out of his mouth as he fired at Wren. Han's turned to Cronk as he asulted the Chaos Beast of Life from the front row. "Cronk, I'd suggest puttin' Ms. Nyx or Skrall first. If by some miracle that angel of yours decides to not protect Wren and instead protect Nyx, then we need to take advantage of it then and attack Wren!" -

OoC: Yes, while it is most likely that Wren will be protected and Nyx will be harmed, we don't know that for a fact and now is probably the most ideal time to figure it out. ;) Hans replied, "That may be true, or it may not. Things are so convoluted we can barely tell what's what right now. For all we know Wren might actually be disguising herself to look like Ms. Nyx." -
I think Zepher's point is valid, yes we are dealing with a situation that hasn't ever really occurred before, but if we use this round to experiment (an excellent round to do so given we have the guardian angel) we'll know exactly how to capitalize on the situation when it happens again. We are in know way in a terrible position right now, remember this is a final boss fight against Wren, did we expect it to be easy or straight forward? As long as Zepher has an exact pre-planned layout for how things will work depending upon what we do, I'm satisfied. It's when a QM is wishy washy and hasn't really planned ahead for an awkward situation like this one and just makes things up as they go along, that I'll cry foul, as their decision can easily be influenced by what is currently going on in the battle. Orcs have their own language and depending on how much education or interaction with other races they may be able to speak others. Generally in this game, most orcs have been portrayed to have a little difficulty in human, but certainly not all.

Han's glanced over at Hoke, "Are you daft man? Wren is like no other enemy either you or I have ever faced, we aren't going to get anywhere if we're afraid to ever strike. Throw the bomb Lady Nyx!" OoC: Sorry Zepher, I know Skrall wouldn't be able to put these thoughts into speech in character. I'm trying to stick pretty closely to Han's personality. Also, Wren isn't equipping any armor so I can't figure out how you're going to take it off. -
I like the character and agree that the theatrical rogue is a great interpretation of the class, so kudos for trying something uncommon. Flash-backs can go one of two ways, if based off of a current situation that triggers the flash-black they can help add depth to your character and thus the situation (as long as you aren't doing it in every scene that is). The second way flash-backs can commonly tend, is they happen just for the sake of happening, they don't really add anything to a scene and they're basically your character monologuing, tooting their own horn, or as Zepher put it once "playing with yourself" instead of the other characters. The key thing to remember is that Heroica RPG isn't just about your character (and I give this as general advice for anyone putting more emphasis on role-playing over game-playing), it's about the story as a whole and how everyone contributes to the grand-arching themes pervading it.

OoC: +3 Health to Skrall as he has 8SP not 5. Also, do we have a set definition for how spell spins effect healing staves? Also, now would be a great time for conditional actions, dependent on if Wren is treated as part of the party or not. "What the..." Skrall turned quickly, drew his crossbow, and fired at Wren from point blank range. Hans shouted over at Nyx, "Ms. Nyx, perhaps now would be an excellent time to throw one of your bomb XX's at us, that way we can figure out if you're still fightin' with us or against us." Felton mused aloud, "If for some strange reason Wren is protected by your angel, Cronk, then we need to turn our attention on that chaos beast of life. If she isn't, then everyone should stand back for some party in-fighting and pile on the hits!"
