So what are you really bad at? You need to give us more info as to what in particular you think you’re terrible at. as per the others for some general advice … Read lots of official instructions, all the pdfs of the modern era are on Lego.com website. Build them if you have the parts. Don't expect / try to build a 1:8 model of a real car from the start as you’ll only set yourself up for failure. Start small by trying mechanisms and techniques. Read old threads on this forum to see peoples thought process. Remember you need to walk before you can run. Like everything in life, learning a skill takes time. If you look back at my TC entries you’ll see how my own skills have approved over the years. I know I still want to learn advanced body shaping skills. Finally … accept you will fail from time to time. I can’t remember the number of times my TC entry has changed after hitting a “wall” and my collection of unfinished MOCs that I may pick up again is extensive.

End of a Reviewing Era
Seasider replied to Jim's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Going to miss the Eurobricks reviews. I liked reading them and thought the photography was great. In terms of other media reviews of Lego there’s only a short list of people I watch. It’s going to be a shame as there’s something nice about a reading a well written musings on a set. thanks @Jim @Milan and the other Technic reviewers for eurobricks -
Generic Contest Discussion

In English it’s often used when talking to children to ask if they’ve done an no 1 or 2. But as you say @Jim that’s off topic so I suggest you just hurry up and put the competition up so we can all get working on small construction equipment before we all decide that we’d like to build large multi-engined propellor driven flying machines instead :) -

For option 1 how are we going to define what’s a car ? Is an SUV or a 4x4 a car ? What about a Morgan 3-wheeler ? … just being provocative @Jim -

I kinda like the construction equipment idea. Gives lots of options, and we can also say on this not a licenced model -

But it’s still copying something that exists and not promoting imagination. -

I think it should at least have a theme rather than just a bounding box. -

I agree with howitzer a basic theme helps with the voting, but may not please everyone. How do you compare a helicopter to a car for example ? It’s not as easy as comparing a car to another car perhaps not for this but perhaps at some stage we should have a construction / agricultural machinery competition. -

Don’t worry Jim I’m sure I can come up with something. Hopefully a little different. Just put the competition rules up soon so we can all start thinking True -

Damn @Jim I was hoping to build something that wasn’t a car 🤣 but if you insist -

@Jim can it NOT be a build anything competition… my mind needs some form of direction rather than a purely blank box. Also can we not have a “build something licenced” I think tonn on many competitions are ruled by people building copies of real cars etc -

I can’t think of one @Jim we’ve had a couple with Part count limits. The triple and mini contests both were part limited, I think you’re right and the small car was the only one with a described volume box. -
Disney Properties 2022 - Rumors & Discussion

Loving the Classic Space vibe of the XL-15. May have to purchase this -
Looks great I loved air wolf as a kid. I think the nose is slightly off, a bit too short / stubby from what I recall a model 222 looking like. But otherwise great job

The All-Terrain instructions were still missing when I checked earlier this week too. So I wouldn’t read anything into it The livery would have been designed very late in the day so I’d be surprised if that was an issue. Sponsor names could be a problem if they’re different from 2021 to 2022, sorry I’ve not looked in detail. but you could fix that by changing the stickers.

[HELP] Generic Building Help Topic
Seasider replied to Jim's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Thanks @2GodBDGlory and @howitzer I’ve managed to get them a bit straighter using a bit of light heat from friction with my fingers and light bending. They’ve now got a gentle bend and I think I might leave it at that. -

Seasider replied to Jim's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Not sure the best place for this Q I’ve been expanding my non-Technic collection (lots of space stuff) and just bought off eBay the City Spaceport set that has 3 of the 32L axle pieces in it. However they’ve not been stored great and so are all bent (thankfully a gentle curve). Rather than buying new ones does anyone have any suggestions for how to straighten them? I’ve improved them a bit by some bending and heat from rubbing fingers on them. But wondered if there’s a better method -

The problem with B-model contests, as someone has said before is that bigger often equals better in terms of voting on this forum. Also licensed (building a model of a real vehicle) often beats building an original creation. the volume box has worked well before with the small car contest we had for vehicles to fit the transporter -

Great little model. I like how you put hidden switches for opening the closures and headlights. Are the headlights meant to be low rise ? -

@marcus2388 it’s just Jim’s thoughts at the moment. Nothing is official until a new contest thread is started.
