  1. He was using the same 2 diameters for all 3 of his materials so I would class material as the main variable
  2. Great little machine you have there. if you compare the Young’s modulus of your materials you get … Aluminium ~70 GPa Copper ~117 GPa Steel ~190-215 GPa so you can see how much the challenge increases for your 3 materials
  3. Ok thanks so it sounds like give it a miss
  4. Yes it’s arrived but I don’t have it in my hands and not built it yet. And the Lego sale ends on the 31st
  5. Hello all, I’ve recently bought the Zetros (v1) in a sale and just seen that in their Boxing Day sale they have the xl motor and medium angular motor for sale. are they worth the purchase to expand my powered up / control+ collection ? I haven’t tried either app as yet
  6. Just downloaded the free instructions for all the models. Wonder where you got the idea for the trans-blue from 🤣 it actually works really well on your images
  7. Great little model, it flashed up on my instagram feed yesterday and then I saw who created. Your small/mid scale models are great.
  8. 6941 is definitely a car. I’m going to wait and see what the final rules are and see if I can knock out a quick model for this one too while concentrating on the Sci Fi thread comp
  9. Oh no … just found this thread … hmm I’ll have to make serious decisions as I was already planning to enter the Sci Fi threads spaceship contest and had started to scheme something up. I always find it hard enough to enter one competition over Christmas let alone two as I’m away from home visiting family for at least a week especially if they only run up until End of Jan. Oh well I may sit this one out.
  10. I thought they all run really smooth with no one asking any little tiny question regarding the rules or even for extensions for time 🤣🤣🤣
  11. @1974 for your 3rd question about posting online I think what they mean by this is not having shared it in the past on social media / a forum / at an event. As you say we all need to put pictures onto a hosting service before posting the entry here so that doesn’t count. But if you’d posted them on Flikr before this competition had been announced I’d say that MOC doesn’t count for this competition.
  12. Big fan of classic space. Fingers crossed I can get some build time to have a go at this. Better get that brain thinking
  13. Thanks @Maaboo35 Does anyone have a parts list for the differences between v1 and v2 models ? So I can prep the bits I may need in advance.
  14. Sorry if this has been asked already but are there any clues on the boxes as to whether you have an original or updated set?
  15. I picked up 2 copies yesterday in a store. Hope to start building some time this week.
  16. @Navy Trooper Fenson if you could quickly come up with the what’s missing list for building all 3 from 2 sets that would be great 👍
  17. @Corellian Corvette - I want to build all 3 too. I haven’t ordered the set yet as I’ve got the chance of going to an actual store this weekend, so will pick one up then. We’ll actually I might pick up 2. The plan I thought about is to arrange all the pieces neatly. Then put the pieces for the mid-sized in a pile. Then repeat for the small one but make 2 piles, one for parts still from the bin (not used in the mid) and a second pile for common pieces. I think there may be quite a few parts missing in the substructure and some of the details like the parts to make the arrows. But I’m thinking a brick link order would still end up cheaper than buying 3. I guess the biggest question is how many parts that are unique to this set, so the printed parts, are common to both the mid and small ship. This would make it expensive to get the extra parts. For the ship number I was planning on using custom stickers to number them all correctly.
  18. Has anyone worked out what extra parts you need if you buy 2 Galaxy Explorers and want to build all 3 models at the same time?
  19. This one ? Lego on top … Lego on the shelf, and Lego on the bottom (SW helmet collection) … and clothes squeezed in between. The other side is my partners side for clothes
  20. So here’s the “set up” I struggle with … my desk has 2 computers on it, my work laptop and my own iMac. What desk space I have remaining is for Lego building and storing Lego builds (currently occupied by my 1979 Space box, the chassis of the UCS Porsche and my WIP Eunos chassis. On the shelf (my main Lego display space in the house, yes it’s a 1m long IKEA shelf) you’ll see Brickmonkey’s mx5, the new buzz Lightyear set and some classic space. Under the desk in boxes are UCS Falcon, Slave One & Landspeeder, Kit’s UCS Tantive and then the 4 big boxes contain Lego city space port, Mars and lunar sets along with TLG Benny sets and a few Creator space sets. My Technic loose stuff is in the various tubs you’ll see on the floor, and the cupboard next to it which looks like this … the top shelf contains classic space, the rest is Technic. And then not forgetting this … Where you’ll see on top of the cupboard is more sets (including the Ultimate Technic cars) and the left side of the cupboard on the shelf it’s all random Lego sets and the bottom of the “door area” are the SW Helmets … plus of course my clothes! theres also some random Lego in the loft ! so as you can see I’m very jealous of @Jim and @kbalage with their rooms!
  21. I’m dead jealous of all that space that you have @Jim. I’ll take a photo of where all my Lego is stored at some stage and show you how I’ve over extended my collection a bit too far !
  22. Yes a non vehicle would be good. In the good old studded days of Technic they used to build machines and not just cars, bikes and trucks.
  23. We’ve not done Walkers before … no wheels or tracks but make a vehicle that can move
