Eurobricks Mafia II: Mafia School: Conclusion
Hinckley replied to def's topic in LEGO Mafia and Role-Play Games
This was mentioned in thread and was aggravating to watch. Obviously, you made the right choice, but how was he fishing when Dave said to contact Endgame? Wouldn't it have been worse if he hadn't contacted you? It was frustrating to watch and not be able to help at all, but when you guys called it fishing, I couldn't understand what would've made a better approach. You elected him Mayor and then thought he was fishing when he followed through with what Dave told him to. Should he have just said "Hey, I'm here at your service."? A longer chain? Just the length made it more believable? I admit our PM chain between me and Rick was completely made up. So, really, you guys did everything right. I'm really just frustrated that all the ground work we laid was ultimately for naught. But when I saw Walter post his PMs, I thought it was an easy thing for someone to do that had been recruited. And if Pie thought that Dave had actually connected me and Walter, wouldn't our PMs have gone the same way, not knowing each other's affiliation? This is why I've decided that PM posting won't be allowed in my games. It's way too easy to prove what is said behind the scenes. I've never seen a successfully falsified PM and posting an entire PM conversation or inviting someone into an existing one too easily exonerates people. I have a new theory that PMs are private and therefore stay private. People can paraphrase what was said, but there's too much proof in PMs. Yes, this favors the Scum, but it's a delicate balance for the Scum to spin all of those lies in PM. What do you guys think? Do I feel that was just because PM posting just made my team lose? You guys did an awesome job. I'm just finally getting to ask the questions that I couldn't ask while frustrated and helplessly watching my team go down, one by one. And good job Walter at convincing them as well. When I first came up with the idea to tell them you had killed Pandora (I originally was going to choose Nightshroud since so many people were suspicious of him ) I was hoping that info would never come to light because I didn't want to have to accuse you and argue over it in public. That would've been hard to do. That was why I was waiting to make sure the Masons were sure before I accused you. The plan was to use none of the NA action results to stop those Scummy Scumbags from connecting, but who would jump on a Walter bandwagon based just on his posts? Ah well... win some, lose some.- 85 replies

Eurobricks Mafia II: Mafia School: Conclusion
Hinckley replied to def's topic in LEGO Mafia and Role-Play Games
While Rick and I were terrified of Pandora and had to get rid of her because we knew we could never win against her, the biggest pleasant surprise was how you managed to stay concealed as the other recruiter. You're definitely one to watch out for in the future. You struck the perfect balance of seeming Scummy, so that we never wanted to kill you and never revealing your Mason status, so we never wanted to kill you. Excellent work. We never stood a chance against a Mason that could freely recruit every night. As I alluded to, great job Pandora! As I've told you now in private, once I realized you were a mason, I knew we would be in trouble. I really didn't think at that point that Dave would track me. I thought he trusted me, but it's a good thing he did. I really thought I had been caught when Dave told me the group PM with Walter was over. But, it turned out that it was Walter he suspected because we mason blocked him. It's too bad it was a clean sweep from my lynch though. Pandora did a great job at changing her behavior from Day One to Day Two making it seem like she could've been converted. You were very hard to read and when I tried to broach the subject of Dave and the obvious Masons and if you guys were sure about lynching Walter Kovacs, you tried to seem Scummy and it backfired and seemed really Townie to me. That was so confusing for me. I knew you were a Mason and I had agreed with Dave and Pie to be the mouthpiece but I couldn't get a definite target from Dave. He was so adamant about Walter one minute (which would've been hard to make a case against him without revealing the "evidence") and then told me to hold off the next. Boy Wonder was clearly lying about the bodyguard, but for some reason the choice ended being Chromeknight. And I wish I would've contacted Boy Wonder one night earlier. We knew he was lying, but weren't sure if it was a sting. Then Rick pointed out, it was too early to be a sting, due to the fact I was still trusted. Anyway, maybe we could've helped Boy Wonder not make sure a poor decision to mason block Dave. It seems like he was low on recruitables anyway at that point. Boy Wonder, what caused you to target me, Rick and Pie? I was rather disappointed that Rick was lynched right after me. What was the reasoning behind lynching him? Not having the benefit of seeing the Mason discussion, it seemed like an odd choice after you guys had been saying Walter would be next. Oh, lots has been discussed on the dead board and I'm sure we'll discuss it all over again. Whee! What fun. Thanks. Too damn bad I didn't realize The Boy Wonder's lame attempt at infiltrating the Scum was actually a lame attempt to connect to the other Scum team. To think we could've connected on Day One! But I never would've approached Boy Wonder based on what you told me. I thought he'd have to be completely daft to be so blatant and careless. What do they say about hindsight?- 85 replies

Harriet Slutter and the Philosopher’s Balls Harriet Slutter is off for her first year at PigBlister’s School of Sorcery and Magicky-doings. But, the PigBlister Express has left her in Cockturn Alley and Lord Moldyshorts and his gang of Odor Eaters has other plans for her. Can he stop her from getting to school and get his hands on the Philosopher’s Balls for his diabolical scheme to take over the World? Or will Harriet spoil his plans and make it to school on time? Only you can answer that by signing up for Harriet Slutter Mafia - Book One: Harriet Slutter and the Philosopher’s Balls. Join an advanced game with a basic setup, yet with a unique concept for how the game itself will be approached. Tired of hero worship and meta-gaming? Take part in a concept that attempts to circumvent this pesky Mafia byproduct. In the magic world of Cockturn Alley, you can expect to find a couple of twists, but nothing that a Mafia School graduate can’t handle. Vets and Mafia School graduates are encouraged to sign up. (Current Aperture students can apply, but final decision will be left to the Aperture hosts) No cults, no fake conversions, no resurrections, no vengeful spirits ...there may be a neutral or two. You might see some Hinckely favorites like lovers or the inventor. There may be some never before seen roles as well. Who knows? Structure-wise, Town Night Actions will not be passed on, but the Scum will be able to choose which Action they would like to keep when they lose a member. If the game is brought down to one remaining Scum player, that player will be given a kill and a block Action to be able to use both nightly. I am considering not allowing players to post PMs from other players. I'd like to hear people's thoughts on that. Also, for the first time, I'm engaging in the fhomess rule: all pictures will be hosted on EB so you won't be blocked at work. So, if you'd like to play, please respond to this post with the following information: Your past Mafia experience Your ability to focus on the game over the next 32 days Will you be able to keep up with 20 hour NA deadlines? Your favorite Mafia moment Tell me why you think Vanilla Townies are important or how they are most useful (6 steps in a Mafia application?) Give me your word that you'll participate in whatever crazy concoction I've doctored to avoid the meta-gaming. It will take everyone's cooperation and to operate on their honor. Thanks for checking this out and I hope we have a great game. Currently, I have 26 slots and I can make it more or less depending on how many people sign up. There are two other games currently in progress, but my plan is to leave this signup thread up for about a week. I need to finish the game before Brickworld in June, so we have to start now.

As for me calling South America "Texas", I of course know where South America really is. The term "American" to describe citizens of the United States annoys me as well, but there's unfortunately not much that can be done about it. When I was traveling abroad to Malaysia, Singapore and Thailand, and people would ask where I was from, I would say "The States" and they would say "huh?" and I would say "America" and they would say "Oh, wow. America. Cool." So, if you can't beat 'em... Thank you! I'm a little disappointed that nobody noticed the torch was in the wrong hand. And I liked my poster better than the banner:

Busy as I was all day, I'm glad the bandwagon piled on me yesterday and there wasn't a bunch to respond to today. I wouldn't have had time. Perfect timing. Best of luck, Townies. I really don't think it's as bad for us as Pie seems to think. We're in a good spot. Bring those Scumbos down. Goodbye now.- 82 replies

Eurobricks Mafia II: Mafia School: Day Five
Hinckley replied to def's topic in LEGO Mafia and Role-Play Games
Why is everyone being so pessimistic? If the Scum have connected, it's not through the imagined Hinckley-mastermind Pie has painted. What they're saying about me connecting with Walter is not true at all. I'm not saying they're lying, I'm saying they're imagining it. Overly paranoid. I'll turn up Town tomorrow and you'll have a clear path to follow. Lynch me. It'll benefit us tomorrow because then you'll see the truth of it all. Don't give up. That's really the worst enemy. The Town will definitely lose if we all just get down and give up. Get down as in depressed, not dancing. If you start dancing, you'll have more fun, win or lose, but dancing doesn't guarantee a win either. Just an elevated heart rate and some adrenaline. Roll, bandwagon, roll.- 82 replies
