Eurobricks Mafia II: Mafia School: Conclusion
Hinckley replied to def's topic in LEGO Mafia and Role-Play Games
Double negatives are hilarious. Truth be told, Cecilie Dave'd herself. Her posts in thread may as well have said "I am the vigilante! Scum should kill me! " Sorry, it's true. We kind of knew from those posts and if anything Cornelius confirmed it by asking Rick how to get in touch with the Masons because he knew someone important he wanted inducted into the Masonic Temple. So, we knew he was talking to Cecilie and we knew he wanted to get someone important into the Masons and we had Cecilie's posts. Walter actually did me a disservice by connecting me to the knowledge directly. He "slipped up" during that weird day when I was yelling at Dave and Walter who had two very conflicting stories about what they'd said to each other and what their Night Action targets and results had been.- 85 replies

Student Enrollment: Character and Theme 2
Hinckley replied to Brickington's topic in Brick Flicks & Comics
This is really well done, Brickington. Thanks for being patient and waiting for my schedule to free up. Do a little bit more work for me on this one, before I move you on to the next lesson. 1. Focus a bit more on Patrick as the Protagonist and Wellington as the Antagonist. 2. Besides usual vs. unusual, what concepts could be antagonist and protagonist in your story? Use something that Patrick can wrestle with internally. Fear vs. Confidence or something like that. This will help explore what motivates Patrick to be brave when the time comes. Is he always that brave? Is it hard for him to be brave? 3. Lastly, imagine an antagonist that would threaten the knights and the thieves and think about how all of the characters would respond to that. How does that challenge our views of the Patrick/Wellington conflict? How does it challenge Patrick and Wellington's views of each other. Overall, I'm really happy you're participating as a student here. Your narrative meanders a bit right now, but I think your story is fun and creative. I don't want you to jeopardize or change your original story. Nobody can tell you what to write or even how to write. These exercises are meant to help you bring the story out, solidify your ideas and challenge you creatively to flesh your characters out. Keep up the great work. I look forward to seeing your answers to those three questions. In the meantime, I'll make sure lesson three is ready for you. -
Eurobricks Mafia II: Mafia School: Conclusion
Hinckley replied to def's topic in LEGO Mafia and Role-Play Games
We could tell you were disengaged and thought that was a Town tell. We knew we had to pay so much attention to what was going on, a recruiter wasn't likely to be so absent. And at the same time, your inactivity and vote from Walter made you a reasonable vig target. We thought I was likely to be tracked and wanted to be able to say that I was the vig and see how long we could get away with it. We assumed I would be metagamed out by Night Actions long before Day Four, so I was being pretty bold by killing anyway. It really was unfortunate for us that we killed you on Night One. That's a huge reason we lost. We lost a mason block (well should have, Boy Wonder, ) and Boy Wonder was never able to convert, choosing a Scum and a Mason as targets. What made you choose me for Night One conversion? So unfortunate that the two Scum teams targeted each other on Night One.- 85 replies

Eurobricks Mafia II: Mafia School: Conclusion
Hinckley replied to def's topic in LEGO Mafia and Role-Play Games
I hope I was clear about that as well. Pie, you continue to improve all the time and I enjoy it when you're part of a game. You played really well here. I subscribe to your paranoia and confirmation theory, of course, that's why it was so hard to keep up appearances with Dave. If I told him what I would as a Townie, he started suspecting me. But if I just went along with him and encouraged him to tell me everything he thought I was Town. The problem was I assumed he was posting all of our PMs to you and Pandora and that the two of you would see right through it. I wanted to be talking to all three of you and I was starting to realize there was a huge difference of opinion amongst the Masons so I started appealing directly to you and Pandora. I think my mistake was not posting all of our PMs for you (which I did for Pandora) to explain the madness I was going through with Dave. For example, I tried to talk him down from vig-killing Chromeknight (not that I had that control) and told him to think about what he was seeing and if Chromeknight would've acted like Scum in order to infiltrate. He was so mad at me for "doubting him." Side note: Dave actually quoted Darth Vader to me at one point. Dave, you should take away from this that you don't handle positions of power very well...or at least didn't. Dave said "I find your lack of faith in me...disturbing." Anyway, I really thought he would post all of my PMs and you two would see how I was pleading with him to be cautious and I tried to appeal to both of your sense of (supposed) aggravation with him. If I had been Town, I would've had a very very different conversation with Dave. It would've been the internet posting equivalent to a punch in the balls. No offense, Dave. Glad you're taking this as a learning experience. My point is: Pie, you played fantastically. Congratulations. Nice work. We were going to kill Dave if he was Mayor or not. Tracker was way too dangerous to keep around, even if he was buying all of our megablocks. And Dave, I don't mean to pick on you. Read Bloodbrick I where I was Jesus. I really gave the Scum the game on that one.- 85 replies

Eurobricks Mafia II: Mafia School: Conclusion
Hinckley replied to def's topic in LEGO Mafia and Role-Play Games
I keep forgetting to mention what a genius Rick is. He devised a code so we could pre-prove we had done the killing instead of waiting another game night to convince the recruiters. Boy Wonder just believed me when I contacted him so it wasn't necessary to reveal this code. Apparently Pie's argument was convincing enough. Boy Wonder doubted a trap would be so elaborate. But here's the code: take the list of players from Day One and assign them each a letter, in alphabetic order, in order down the list. So every player has a logical letter associated with him or her. Whoever we decided to kill, I started my final post of the day with that letter. Rick is so smart.- 85 replies

No, duh. We were obviously doing well enough that the Scum was afraid to kill or convert us, fearing the other team would be targeting us instead. I mean come on. How dare we survive? That must mean we're Scum. Great. That'll be a hard one to overcome from now on. That's because there was no "they". It was just Boy Wonder.- 85 replies

Boo, you cheater! Honestly, I had a couple people tell me they thought I was either PR or Scum and I figured it was because I was online and posting while you were deciphering your PM and I didn't respond to it at all. Rick and Redblade both incriminated themselves responding to the whole ordeal. I saw people saying the same to Rick: "You're either Scum or PR". I don't know if it's because of your, once again, not reading your God-damn role PM, but then using it to your advantage, but it certainly made us sweat for a second. Congratulations on surviving. Yeah, stupid Town.- 85 replies

This sounds to me like I'm arguing for you to have fallen for the lies. Which I am, but I'll continue. Sour grapes and all that. This is the trap I fall into when I'm playing Town leader or whatever. People want to know what's happening. I try to chalk it up to an idle curiosity. I'm sure Rick wasn't asking Endgame questions that he was going to use the information from. Rick isn't sloppy like that to go fishing for info. I think telling a Vanilla Townie to just be content with what they're told perpetuates the problem of lazy Vanilla Townies. In that position, verify a person and then engage them. I hope the reason was more that he wasn't verified and not that he was vanilla as that's aggravating to hear that Vanillas are supposed to just follow the PRs or Masons. Boo to that. Seriously, boo. And surviving the night as Mayor? Didn't we let Pie live for one night as well? Did you really think we were just going to kill the Mayor every night? There was too much threat of being watched. But since I was the Watcher, we shouldn't have been worried. Seriously, surviving as Mayor is a really bad reason to lynch someone. Bad winning Townies, Bad! Really, good job. Even if your logic was flawed and you forgot to fall for the lies and give us a fighting chance. Couldn't you just have lynched Walter to give us the slightest glimmer of hope? As far as it being a new rule, I think it will be up to each host what they want to do with public posting of PMs.- 85 replies
