  1. I probably still will. Just don't think I can afford it day one which is disappointing because I don't want to miss out on the Mr. Freeze minifig.
  2. Silver lining. That's a good way of looking at it!
  3. At 2500 pieces, that would make this comparable to the modular buildings, which range from $150 to $180 or so. I realize this is a licensed set but the Simpsons house is licensed and 2500+ pieces and is only $200. $270 seems really excessive for what we are getting. The Ghostbusters HQ is 4600 pieces and is $350. Then again, the Helicarrier is 3000 pieces and $350 so what do I know?
  4. This might be out of my price range if it's really $270. Not sure this is worth it at that high a price point.
  5. It looks like Catwoman has a double-sided face: with and without the Domino mask. Most of the time Julie Newmar didn't wear the mask anyway. It's a small detail I appreciate. I hope they do the same for the the Riddler. Was anyone else hoping the Riddler would be wearing his suit and bowler hat instead of the leotard? I know the leotard is more iconic to this version of the Riddler but I always preferred the look of the suit.
  6. I agree with that. Though the Mr. Freeze minifig looks great, he's not as iconic as Batgirl...especially considering two other actors played Mr. Freeze in the series.
  7. That's around the price range I was hoping for. You are right, the large panels do make it look larger than Arkham but it's probably pretty close in piece count. I missed out on Arkham but I will not miss out on this set, that's for sure. Disappointed there is no Batgirl, though.
  8. It doesn't seem as substantial as the Ghostbusters HQ set so I don't think it will be that expensive. Maybe $200? Though I'm hoping for less.
  9. In his original appearance in Detective Comics #66 in 1941, Two-Face wore orange and purple and I think continued to early on in the comics. But I do agree I much prefer the black and white version like in the Animated Series. I too would love to see a Ra's Al Ghul figure. I like his appearance in the Animated Series but the Arkham design is great too. I also agree Mr. Freeze without the goggles didn't feel right.
  10. You are correct. I was actually just thinking about how they should do that yesterday. Can't wait for this set!
  11. I'm so glad they've replaced Santa in the Advent calendar with the collectable minifigs version. The old one with the Majisto beard and the pirate bandana has been done to death.
  12. Where in Texas did you find Mr. Gold, KanyeTwitty? And at what store? I'm in San Antonio and haven't seen this series on sale yet...though I've only checked Target.
  13. My two cents: I think this entire wave looks fabulous. Unfortunately I have to pick and choose what I want to buy. I really, REALLY want Orthanc but at 200 USD, I don't know. If I do get Orthanc, I definitely won't need the Wizard Battle. The Council of Elrond is a must. Elrond looks fantastic. As does Arwen...but once again a licensed female minifig with those horrid cheek lines. Her hair covers them up for the most part but this is really one of my pet peeves with TLG's design of female characters. I love the half Black Gate as well but can't see myself buying two of them. The corsairs' ship looks great but meh...it's probably the one I'll sacrifice to pick up something else like Arkham Asylum or some future sets in the Super Heroes lines or this year's winter village set. TLG makes way too many great things and I make way too little money to keep up. Oh and I too hate...absolutely hate Gandalf the Grey's hairpiece. Almost as much as I hate him with this same old wizard's hat also with no hair. If Jack Sparrow warranted a new molded hairpiece, they surely could have done the same for Gandalf (though I know the age old excuse that this line already has a lot of new molded pieces. Still Gandalf is a major character and deserved to be done right. There's still a chance if we ever get a Balrog set, that Gandalf will get a new hairpiece (or maybe hairpiece and beard combo) but I'm not getting my hopes up. I'm very happy with Gandalf the White, though.
  14. Great review, Plissken! This is the MOS set I am definitely buying. I'm still debating whether to get the Battle of Smallville. I agree with you that Lois could use a better hairpiece. Her torso his great but her face, like many of TLG's recent licensed female characters in the Super Heroes lines, is absolutely hideous. She's like Black Widow's even uglier twin. TLG really needs to stop doing the weird cheek lines thing. Does anyone have any suggestions on a more appropriate replacement head for Lois (or Black Widow for that matter)? I'm thinking Elizabeth Swann.
  15. Am I the only one bothered by the fact that the characters can't seem to agree on whether his name is pronounced "Cragger" or "Crager"?
  16. I finally received my replacement long "Shredder" cape for Elrond. He looks worlds better than with the ridiculous tiny cape (which I plan to give to Thorin whenever I pick him up). Of course, I just happened to have an extra old dark blue cape (not sure where I got it since my Crownie king still has his...but I'm not complaining) but I must say Elrond looks better with the new long cape.
  17. I tried a black cape on Aragorn but I personally prefer the dark green cape I took off Eomer (who doesn't wear a cape in the films anyway). I just think it gives him a more dynamic look, especially considering his coat should be green. Obviously black is more screen accurate, but I just think he looks good with some green on him. Whenever I pick up an extra Mirkwood Elf poly, I can give the dark green hood to Aragorn to complete his Strider look. I also gave him a black glove on his right hand. Have you given gloves to the other minifigures that are lacking them? Gimli, Theoden, Eomer, and the Rohan Soldier are the ones that bothered me. I tried giving them all reddish brown hands as they all wear brown gloves in the film from what I can tell, but I just thought they looked too light. Plus, in the case of Eomer and the Rohan soldier, I didn't like that their hands were the same color as their weapons. I didn't want to go with black so I went with old brown instead. I thought the color was different enough to work. I think dark brown would be ideal but Lego doesn't produce hands in that color (yet). Anyway, just wanted to know your thoughts on these other minifigs.
  18. Awesome MOC! Boromir looks great in the grey cape. I'll have to try that myself once I get my hands on a Boromir minifig. I love that you added gloves to him. The lack of gloves is one of the things that really bothers me about the otherwise fantastic LOTR minifigs.
  19. Would you have any interest in a trade? I'm willing to part with a loose 4502 X-wing Fighter (Dagobah) and 4504 Millennium Falcon (both 100% complete with minifigs and instructions included).
  20. I find that the cape from the Crown Knight King (and also the Fantasy Era Good Wizard and the Vikings chess king) is a very similar color if not the same color as Elrond's tiny cape. Luckily I had an extra one and replaced it. Elrond looks much nobler with his long cape. http://www.bricklink.com/catalogItem.asp?M=cas332
  21. First Pirates set I ever owned. Love it!
  22. My wife and I were lucky enough to win the exclusive Phoenix and Black Spider-man minifigs at SDCC. Phoenix is absolutely stunning. Spider-man is nice too but I would have preferred Bizarro...not that I'm complaining. I did, after all, come away with two extremely rare minifigs. Someone at the LEGO booth offered me $40 for each but I knew better. These are already going for up to $300 a piece on eBay, though I have no intention of selling.
  23. That would be great! I always preferred Wolverine's brown suit!
  24. Attack on Weathertop: Frodo doesn't have Sting until he meets Bilbo in Rivendell.
