I liked it. Fright Knights had been the last castle before that and I wasn't allowed it (My mum had "views") so KKII was great. I didn't like the giant knights (I bought one for the arms and legs, plus all the purple) I like colour coding and the large parts are slightly awkward but are useable. The swords and shields were great and so was the armour and helmets. Ok, so the speedo knights (yellow legs, black "belt" ) were a bit off... Simply put, KKII wasn't classic castle so it got a whole pile o' hate. All fandoms seem to scorn things that don't fit exactly to theur nostalgia. Such is life.

This is a mecha I made a while back, before I joined eurobricks. I love making mini-mechs such as this one. Please take a look (picture is thumbnail, click through for a larger view and more pictures, plus a story =D).

*variouse noises associated with mutley* I was going to make a robot I jest (I was really making one, but no biggie) I will share my ideas as I decided to just use it in a scene for my MOC. I was planning on trying them as vents in space craft, detailing on a fast car (ferrari style) window sheilding on a post apocalyptic car/truck. a roof rack on a small car or a parcel rack on a motorcycle. Armour or shielding was my main idea.

Ok Greviouse. You like Bionicle, however, others do not... Please can all the arguing stop now? I like Exo-Force and lot's of people bad mouth it, it happens. I don't leap to its defence after every negative post. It was established that this thread was stuck in an opinions only replies and one argument, however passionate and well reasoned, isn't going to change people's minds (sadly). People will like one theme and not another, it's something we all have to live with. I'm not trying to be in your face or anything but the amount of Bionicle defending you have been doing has served two purposes. 1. It has established how much you must love it as a theme (admirable indeed) and 2. People can't be reading all the other posts, as your many defences of Bionicle cover a lot of the points they dislike. Arguing it out doesn't seem to be working. This is a respectful and somewhat careful request for an end to the cycle of Bionicle badmouthed-Leap to Defence as clearly not many people are reading this. Please don't take offence.

Does a lack of space mean a lack of Legos?
Peppermint_M replied to SWMAN's topic in General LEGO Discussion
In reply to the title: Yes and no. Space is at a premium in my house. I still live with my family, and there are 8 of them besides me and we have a three bedroom house... I still buy lego and display my latest/favourite creations amongst my books and action figures down in my (shared) room. The loft is the land of lego, both mine and my little brother's. Up there it can be a squash as my Lego fights for room between Zoids, books, dvds, games and comics in my "half" alongside the family collection of wooden railway and the bodyboards... Needless to say I don't have much room however I still buy Lego. None of the massive sets (largest so far have been the big Agents sets and Sentai Fortress) and my plan to buy more big sets means I have to dimantle a Castle MOC I have kept for at least three years. If you feel bad about taking up lots of space in the house, or don't want to share space with Lego everywhere then stop buying for a while and plan some Ikea style modular living. -
Well, now that misunderstanding has been cleared up... I have to say I agree with Norro's explantion of his dislike of Star Wars, he articulated some of the thoughts I have in a much better manner . If I may explain my Bionicle and agree why it belongs on both lists. It was good because it was new, I have to say the first generation was fantastic, the second even better but beyond that I just couldn't "get" it and started to see it as a cash cow. Now it's nothing like its roots. If Lego were to (dare I say it) re-boot the theme it could be great. Current building techniques combined with the original story or a similare tale would be fantastic. I must also add: Stingrays was just such a departure from the Aquanauts I had been bought as my first Lego. It was mildly scary (to a 8 year old child) and my mum wouldn't let me have anymore sets. So that's why I don't really like it.

It's a good set. For building up a MF and accessory collection its perfect and the price is good (in the UK) the figures have useful parts. I voted just off majority by the looks of things.
-
True, true. But my point still stands, I do enjoy the challange of <insert that tiresome argument> parts. They may cut a lot of corners but have some fantastic effects that most "traditional" Lego cannot achieve. On topic Well, I thought about the 90s themes and the best and worst for me in the 90s were: Best: Adventurers Alpha Team Rock Raiders Worst: Aquazone with the odd non-human looking Stingrays/Hydronauts Znap ... I cant think of a third one.

Buying them all, adding to my planned Agents layout. Must buy all of last years first. Can't wait 'til summer!

No, I'm not bashing or flaming. Sorry. I legitimately believe Star Wars to be one of the "worst" themes. The price, generally small/limited construction (I have had quite a few sets, if you check my brickset listings, I have the same username there) and the fact all the sets are just taken from an overgrown leviathan of a franchise. I do not hate it for its popularity, I just feel sort of sad that many people buy it just for a pretty star wars spaceship/scene/minifig for their star wars merchandise collection, not for Lego's well known true purpose; MOCing , and so so many end up gathering dust on a shelf alongside the die cast and kotobukiya kits. I am afraid at the time of my post I had been thoroughly wound up by my storm trooper friend (I made the mistake of linking the Akbar minifig to him..) all in jest of course, but highlighting to me the problem I have with Star Wars as a Lego theme. To summarise: I use star wars Lego, that’s why I buy it. What I regret is fact it is one of the themes that doesn't encourage creativity in others. This is why I have put it in my "worst" theme list. I apologise if I offended anyone, and I curse my lack of foresight in not explaining my reasoning adequately. However, Star Wars will remain in my list. Please don't jump to conclusions about things, people rarely explain themselves properly on the internet. (If I were flaming I think I would have used more caps, and 1337) Post Script: I'm not talking about the ultimate collectors edition sets. Those are very detailed and have a thumb numbing piece count, if it weren't for their price I would have some of those. Even if they are true display pieces. I must also add: I am the staunchest defender of "Lego is made for Children not AFOLs" (people never seem to notice my posts most of the time...) I love the parts people complain as <insert that tiresome argument>. I can see the positive in 4+ Pirates! If there are certain rules as to what qualifies sets as good or bad, please let me know and I can re-acess my lists. I can see many lists I disagree with (Rock Raiders were one of my favourite themes, and from my list you can see Exo Force was my favourite right up until they discontinued it) I am afraid that the 90s is a bit of a blur, it being my pre-teen years, all Lego was the bestest ever in my mind at the time. So I can't really say much about them, apart from Alpha Team, Adventurers and Rock Raiders featured greatly in my (sadly uncompleted) wish lists. (sorry for the misspelling, the true spelling was censored )

Minifigs aren't hot, or sexy.(I may change my mind when we get the Jake Gylanhaal minifigs )

Yes, more baseplates are imperative! This is why I will be buying the lego board games . I hate competing with my siblings, so I wont play the games, I will play with the Lego

Best: Agents (My current favourite) Exo Force (My previous Favourite) Adventurers (My "back in the day" Favourite) Worst: Spongebob (I hate it I hate it I HATE IT!!) Star Wars (It sucks, too expensive, far too popular and removes the focus from classic Lego to replicas of boring films. An anamathea on LEGO) Bionicle (It has gone on long enough. Please end it nicely) No, I'm not being contrary (much ) I rather enjoyed Exo-Force, a decade of mecha building struggle ended with the Grand Titan, even though it was skeletal I could bulk it up and had a framework to build up from. Agents is just the theme for me this year. Spongebob is just not on. I'm sorry, its really irritating. Star Wars... Fleshtone figures, high prices and a huge percentage of Lego fandom who spend the time not focused on SW taking figures from the classic themes to adapt as extras for their Star Warsy lameness Bionicle was good in the beginning. Heroic warriors fighting the evil on their adopted home. Now they all look as evil as each other and fight for glory, not honour. Ho hum

o0 Oh my. That is rather good news. So, minifig hour glass? Minifig Prince of Persia . 2010, hurry up.
-
Thanks for making the list. And by the by, the Female Insectoid minifig has the name Gypsy Moth, but im not sure if this is fanon or official from Lego comics/promotional material.

Tokens or coupons in Lego instruction booklets perforated so as not to damage the booklet, collect a large amount and send in for some cool extra, like a baseplate, or a keyring maybe impulse sets or some sort of exclusive. I get a bit miffed when I check set listings and find some really cool little sets that were promotional in one country or one part of the world and impossible to find in my country, apart from inflated prices on ebay and bricklink. If Lego had theses availiable via mail in token collection promotions it would be awesome!

Fun With Agents 8632 Swamp Raid
Peppermint_M replied to dieselboy m's topic in LEGO Action and Adventure Themes
The violence does seem at odds with the characters involved... A bit more graphic than it need to be. I'm not currently seeing the "fun". Took the photo's well. Good angles. -
Updates? Please say its just camera trouble, or a fleeing muse. Cliffhanger

You know, you could solve all this by taking a "baddie" alien head and put it on a Space Patrol Uniform.... After all, Lego is very customisable. You could buy a whole pile of Insectiods and UFO alien heads and put them on Space Patrol Uniforms. Just Saying. My little brother loves the rock monsters in power miners. More often than not he is making plans on what he'll have them do to the power miners, hat stealing, truck hijacking, it's clearly not making him racist. Ok, so he didn't like the Mars aliens, but that is because they are two part clear green figures with limited articulation.... Give kids more credit, they will grow up racist if their parents and family are racist, not because Lego gave them aliens as baddies in the space theme. Ho hum.

Free Power Miners raffle, - the entries
Peppermint_M replied to CopMike's topic in LEGO Action and Adventure Themes
Wonderful! (but Imp is a Druid's son he need white robes just me being picky...) Too bad lego don't do dark glasses that fit on rock monsters. -
Hmm, yes Mr Star Wars fan... talking about prices.... Lucky you, get it while it's on sale! Lots of shops sell new lines at a reduced rate to get people intrested. I bought most of the Exo-Force mecha on 25% off in Woolworths when they were new, for about the first two weeks after the sets arrived in shops they cost less than RRP. Parents would buy one and the kids wanted more just in time for the price to go back to RRP... All I can say is i need more lime green...

Will the Digital Designer brick pallet be updated to include more of the elements and colours availiable via pick a brick?
-
Ah yes, but Algernon had to remove his link with an edit proclaiming that confidential pictures cannot be linked to or posted. Oh, I am so looking forward to the new Agents lego!!! My plans for modifications and expansion of certain sets are going well and all that Inferno equipment will be a welcome addition. Roll on summer!!
-
Algernon posted it and was told to remove it... We aren't allowed to post confidential pictures as Lego's competitors can steal the designs or make a rival theme (or so I've heard) the pictures do rock though, and the past few posts have been discussing them. Just a heads up to help a newbie avoid trouble

I have to say, it was wonderful to be presented with a pile of plain bricks. I do love all the new shapes and mouldings that have become available in the past few years but the bricks... My head just overloaded on ideas, I must have rearranged that little MOC at least six times... It'll be great fun when I get the castle one.
