Great and not so great colours
Peppermint_M replied to 3.14 Toasts's topic in General LEGO Discussion
Purple and Dark Red are my favourite colours in all of lego. Dark Red is very well represented in star wars and castle however purple is far too rare. The colours I dislike are hmm, that old orangish brown that looks very odd, plus there wasn't enough of it to really use beyond minor "wood" details. Of course bley and black and white are the staple colours that I enjoy working with. -
Edited small stud miscount (I counted some studs twice) Thanks for pointing that out

A fine battleship that plies the skies of the Empire. With her brave and noble crew the Albion Ascendant is near unstoppable. Flying the colours of the Air Navy all know the allegiance of this vessel. I made this a while back and took my time taking the photos. I can’t precisely remember the source of all the elements I used but the minifigs all have naboo fighter pilot torsos and regular legs which I bought via the online pick a brick. I like making steampunk MOCs. Albion Ascendant on MOCpages

V-LV-19D Well, it's a yellow sports car, 8 stud wide with wood and leather interior. Sports Car on MOC pages that is all.

Best and Worst Minifig accessory
Peppermint_M replied to 3.14 Toasts's topic in General LEGO Discussion
My best minifig accessories are the laptop, ninja sword and briefcase. The worst are the plate (too large a scale outside of Belville) and the skateboard, it is too large and is one case where I think the *whisper* megablocks *shudder* equivilant element is better. -
Full write ups are now live on my MOCpages for both the Gold Ray and the Amber Charge. These explain some of the features and capabilities of the cosmic cycles.

Dark Age nearer than I think?
Peppermint_M replied to darkrebellion's topic in General LEGO Discussion
Intrests wax and wane. A year or so ago I was way into anime, now I buy an anime magazine as it comes out (too keep an eye on Ghibli output and the mecha) but I haven't bought or planned to buy any new series. Maybe in a year or so something will come up that catches my eye and I will be hugely into anime again. Its the same for me with comics, I used to collect three or four series, now I get one and the odd book that catches my eye. If you think you will have regrets about a dark age, put away your lego but don't give it away/sell it, or you could just keep your favourite parts/sets/MOCs. Then in a few years, months or even weeks you might have second thoughts and still have some to play with. Most importantly of all, enjoy yourself, make sure that the dark age is your own choice, not peer/parent preassure and live with every choice you make. (I have never seen any problem with "chicks" and bricks, but then I have been playing since I was seven and never did like "girls toys" I suppose most girls think its immature... their loss ) -
My laptop is all fixed. There were many problems that a local computer shop fixed and now I am back, getting all my stuff sorted (the only solution was a full system restore, so i am trying to get firefox to remember all my info I need it to again) so wo0t. New discriptions and MOCs will be sorted by Saturday.
-
Thanks all. Right now I am testing my laptop too see if it will freeze again, hopefully I will find the solution and be back with the full write up on those MOCs The Gold Ray is white and gold due to my persistant friend demanding such a colour scheme... I might change it into a "custom" (in that universe) version in different colours. (I just wish I knew how to get my Firefox browser back how I liked it)

Well, on Saturday and Sunday I built two more space cycles and uploaded them to MOCpages. Unfortunately my laptop decided to break and essentialy all I managed to do before it crashed (about twelve minutes afer re-boot each time) was load the pictures to the computer, then load them to MOCpages. They have no discription as such (typing sped up the time between boot and crash) so here are my two other space cycles that do have a fantastic write up (on a sheet of paper in my notepad...) Amber Charge and Gold Ray Enjoy. I hope to get my laptop fixed soon (spent Sunday trying lot's of things, all i managed to do was muck up firefox, losing all my favoutires and my theme) and be back replying regularly. (logged in from Uni at the moment )

If you could revive any one dead theme...
Peppermint_M replied to Darth Legolas's topic in General LEGO Discussion
Adventurers! That would be fantastic. Everything else has been revived in som form or another. -
How does Eurobricks affect your Lego Hobby?
Peppermint_M replied to I Scream Clone's topic in Community
I voted no and no. I spend the same amount on Lego, I just know in advance what to look out for. I do ask which set to buy as I am never sure which order to buy sets in. I have always MOCed at about the same rate since school started to get more important to my future. All through my GCSEs, A-Level and now my HNC I spent a little time some evenings playing with my Lego and on Sunday afternoons, unless it is freezing cold in the loft. I think if anything, I have become more intrested in the Lego community, looking at Brothers Brick and wading through Flickr to find cool Lego MOCs. I joined Eurobricks to show more people my MOCs as MOCpages was depressingly stuffed to the gills with Bionicle And Star Wars shortly after I joined and I wanted to find somewhere to post the pictures where people would appreciate them. -
Hurt. Nine Inch Nails. I love the intensity of Trent Reznor's voice.

It was the only Batman set I bought. On the strength of classic grey and black Batman, newish style Catwoman and a purple motorcycle The Space Biker saloon is going to be a station on an asteroid, its going to look very cool. I have been building up a list of parts on bricklink so soon I may splurge and buy all the bits.

Ultra Violent... Hmmm, I can understand a mix up with the film, but Lego Ultra Violence would end up looking rather comical... Back on topic, I have plans for several more "Cosmic Cycles" and a station for their pilots to hang out in I just need to get a few of the classic cycles and some more chassis...

Review: 8958 Granite Grinder
Peppermint_M replied to The Cobra's topic in LEGO Action and Adventure Themes
Good review. I bought all three of the smaller sets and this one is the best out of the three. As for the tanks, I theorize that they are compressed air for the grinder, "plants" (technical name for construction kit) like those often have hydraulic driven tools. -
Oh good I'm glad it'll still be around. I really like purple and I only have small amounts of it to work with.
-
Ah, well here is the thing about liscenced sets, Lego wish to "stay true to the source" therefore the realistic guns turn up (Star Wars fans whinged about the megaphone blasters of old). This is why many dislike the liscenced sets.
-
Thanks guys but RangerBob, the question is, what did you misread it as?
-
Well, the comments about MOCpages certainly ring true... I started this topic to try and find somewhere new to go without creating my own site.

I will endevour to discover where my friend got several (in case he loses one) He can get it in the accurate size, however the blood splot is like the one in the comic, not the one in the film. Is this ok? If it isn't I'm sure he knows somewhere/someone making them where you can get it without ebay. I'll PM you the details once I have them. I have a slightly larger one on my bag that my sister bought me at a comic con I was too broke to attend. =D EDIT: Sorry, the seller sold out since the film got popular.

(oh, the pet peeves place was a good place to vent all those little frustrations that put a coat of grumpy over my pysche) I find that a new Lego MOC gone well, a new set tracked down and my orders arriving are very "happy" events. I also like it when I find a ZOID. "Happy" isn't really something I can quantify, as I am not familiar with it (I got to around teen things didn't go so well and since then I can't remember the happy like you have when under ten) just good mood, bad mood and really miserable. Lego, listening to music I like and watching films and cartoons, comic books and regular books all put me in a great mood. Whenever I am feeling down or stressed I pop into the loft and play with my Lego, whether I make a new MOC or play with the sets I have, minifig sorting and making viginettes and by the end of the time I spend playing (I can build for up to three hours without noticing sometimes) I feel great.
-
I find flikr confusing and slightly daunting, the same goes for brickshelf. I like the rating/commenting feature on MOCpages but it does become disheartening sometimes... I think I will be sticking with MOCpages for a while to come. (I use photobucket for my non-lego pictures that I wish to share/post online. Its intresting to see the sites people use.

Thanks, I was somewhat limited in what I could do with such a small MOC and part selection. I love purple, it being my favourite colour, and the only reason I bought one of those odd "action figure" knights kingdom sets. The Dark Panther was a welcome addition to my collection.

Ultra Violet (MOCpages) Please follow for more views and larger images. Well, I went into my loft after tea to tidy up a bit, sort some parts and make everything look a bit neater.... But then I noticed all that lovely purple and an idea that had been forming all day sprang to the front of my mind. So I built this and made more mess . (this is the full text from the MOCpage) Ultra Violet The personal light speed space transport. With Slip Drive™ , retro rockets and atmosphere jets all combined in dual omnitech© booster pods this is the smallest craft capable of taking you from Apollo to Sol that still allows planet side landing and in-system travel. In stylish purple with yellow, black and gray detailing you can tear up the void in style! Similar to Sproket’s Superior Airbike but in a more SF styling, I again used a motorcycle chassis and lots of clips, pegs and a very gentle touch to create Ultra Violet. The chassis is from a Batman set, the bulk of the purple from the Exo Force Dark Panther and some random parts that I can’t assign to a set. The minifig is a custom, using a modified Life on Mars torso, Knight’s Kingdom II legs, a respirator helmet and a cut down KKII armour element. The background is from the Terran Trade Association Handbook, Spacecraft 2000 to 2100. I wanted to try something new and different to plain white paper. (end of page quote) It is a delicate MOC as it all hinges on one of these clipped to the chassis and one of these clipped to that. I used this technique in an earlier MOC. Well, I'm pleased with it, what do you think?
