  1. Sometimes caution is the better part of valour It does not look very clever to post a reply to a thread that was last posted in 5 years ago. Especially to then use text speak. Maybe next time it would be better to have a little think before posting yes?
  2. I think Japan has quite high prices on LEGO, certainly more than the cost in America. That cave looks very cool, but I can't help looking at it like it is a parts pack more than a set... The MOCcer that I am is cheering about all the cool parts.
  3. I did notice this. I came to three conclusions: 1 Ben Fogel does not remember his own childhood. 2 Ben Fogel is not creative. 3 Ben Fogel does not go shopping. 1: He is around the same age as my uncle, so his childhood was prime LEGO Set time. My uncle loves to look at my books about LEGO and point out all the awesome sets he used to own. He rarely recalls boxes of plain bricks at all, instead he had many of the classic town and castle sets until he grew into Technic. 2: As many said, projecting onto children is a huge issue. They see X, so the child sees X. Who knows... I volunteer at a LEGO club for children, one of them came up to me with the boat motor, he wanted to know what it was. Once I explained, he thanked me and then went off to play. Later he returned with an underwater scene all self built from brick and plate. The motor was now fixed to the plate as it was a Submarine. Very creative building and storytelling. No adults involved beyond letting the child know that yes, it is a LEGO piece. 3: It has never been easier to get plain brick in the UK. When I was growing up, there were few creator sets on shelves and rarely any plain bricks. Now you can get the boxes of classic bricks in ASDA and in toy shops. I dunno, it is as said: Sometimes someone famous has been ignore of late, they say something stupid to get attention.
  4. Looks like it was back when there was really noticeable differences between the Chinese made parts and those from the European facilities. My Classic Space shoulder bag had a spaceman that looks like a match to him. The many adventures of Wed Reird (To use the old Star Wars name trick) could be an entertaining diversion.
  5. Ebay is great for picking out lots of figures. It is pricey to get popular figures, but a lot of people simply selling off their kids/their childhood collection simply list a number of mixed figures. Most of them are not the "official" figures that came in a set, but the parts are easy to mix'n'match.
  6. I'm moving this to community where it belongs.
  7. Great MOC, but I think it would be more at home in Licensed, so I'll send it that way.

  18. Compatibility mode helps. I am stuck using IE in work and the websites and software I have to use to do my job do not agree with IE. Tools has a compatibility mode you can add the website to the list with and it should work a little better.
  19. My brother in law got one. I didn't. Very grumpy about this.
  20. Hi We don't delete accounts here. You simply leave the forum and your profile. If there is information on your profile that you do not want searchable, then you can edit that out as you see fit before you go. Otherwise you are free to leave or return as the whim takes you. Regards
  21. I'll go fishing after work. I've been a little busy with the event
  22. So, as the Fenz can attest, flight delays from Billund mean I am now stuck here in Amsterdam untill 21:10. At least I get free food and have some LEGO to play with. Feel free to post pictures here. I'd love to see what everyone has to share.
  23. I'm sat outside the cabin with my luggage and waiting until checkout time. The event is over for another year. It was great to see new and familiar faces. To spend time with friends and get a whole lot of LEGO! Thanks to Holodoc and Bonaparte for working to organise such a great time. Oh, one last thing: Farewell and safe travels to everyone. Hope to see you all at next years event!
  24. Packed! Now all I need to do is tuck my contact lenses into my luggage and note down what name the cabin is under!
  25. I'm a LEGO Nerd. I don't speak acronyms (except those ones that have entered common parlance like AWOL and FUBAR/SNAFU) and it is much easier to say I am a LEGO Nerd than AFOL. At the Children's LEGO club I volunteer at I get called the LEGO Expert by the organiser and the parents and a Master Builder like Wyldstyle by the kids. I'm not really big into labels these days. Me is as Me does.
