Now that is a good question! I would have to think about it for a bit.

Are there too many licensed LEGO themes?

If this is just going to get stupid then I'll lock it. Discussions on the subject are one thing. -
Are there too many licensed LEGO themes?
Peppermint_M replied to imposter's topic in General LEGO Discussion
You have to remember that for those themes, the "three year plan" did not exist yet. They were two to three year lifespan sets. The launch of Ninjago and the unexpected success created the more ambitious aims. The longevity of past themes were never more than the standard cycle most novelty ideas have. Yeah, people can point out that themes after Ninjago might have "failed" or been "cancelled" because of early development plans that are out there, or story plans that don't reach fruition, but not everything is going to run indefinitely. However it would be foolish to not have some planning in place if there is runaway success. Conversely: say Monster Fighters had the same success as Ninjago. Would that theme then be listed as a not so creative theme that has taken the rightful place of something "better". -

So my flight gets in at 17:40 on the Wednesday. A little later than usual, which i am happy to trade getting up at the crack or pre-dawn, and also rushing though the airport to my connection! -
Do we still have rules about flaming I like the plastic/vinyl sails and wings more than fabric, they are a little better to pose. Brick built can get too heavy for certain creations I want to achieve.

Hopefully adding the image helps.

Bricktastic - Manchester 2025
Peppermint_M replied to Peppermint_M's topic in LEGO Events and User Groups
I certainly plan on attending next year and displaying. This year was a lot of fun and apart from the absolute plague I seem to have caught up there (or on the train home) everything went well. -

I probably have to look at if there are any new rules for little ol' me coming into the EU from outside. That is a task for after my trip to Manchester next week. -

Yes, I spotted those when I went on a snacks'n'beer run during Brickworld Chicago last year. The flower designs look a lot like some that Block Tech brand releases here in the UK. The boxes are re-coloured according to how they are being marketed (I saw them in sky blue boxes for Mother's day and currently Pink for Valentine's day). The MTV branded stuff hasn't appeared yet, not even as generic builds without the IP.

Bricktastic - Manchester 2025

Hurrah! It has been too long. -
Just out of curiosity, I am going to this event. Is anyone else from EB attending (I know of one or two). This will be my first convention in the UK, having only gone to Brickworld Chicago. Yes, I live in Wales, but my most attended con is in the USA... So, asking if anyone is going so I can say Hi!

Considering that Hot Wheels and Barbie Mega sets already exist, I am wondering if this new brand might be a way to create distance from the "Megablocks are cheap LEGO knockoffs" by making something that can immediately be positioned as Premium Product without the baggage of MEGA printed on the boxes/bricks. I have personally enjoyed building the different Hot Wheels sets, on two scale points and the diecast based Blok Cars. With no real issues with quailty. However, I could see this new brand taking some of the popular IP and licences they have to market to those TLG are targeting with Icons and other "black box" sets. Maybe adding their own lines of Adult Market items that are generic enough TLG can't object. Even the teaser poster looks something of a match to Icons, with the black background. Something I will keep an eye out for.

Once you get to 10 posts, give it another go. I can't remember exactly what is shut off for an account that is brand new, but it is likely a spam prevention feature. A reply to me, is one more post

Brickshelf is shutting down. Let's try to save it.

Oh dear. That is sad to hear. I hope the family know what a huge and positive impact he had on the online LEGO community. It is too bad there is probably no interested parties to keep it online. I know many threads of the past will lose images (many of my own included). -
Well. This looks like it might either cause a whole heap of trouble to an Adventurer, or give the Monster Hunters something to contend with! Thanks for sharing, I do love to see strange creatures built of brick.

Have you attempted a comparison on how the parts sound? Truly, even the best quality competitors do not sound the same as LEGO product and I have extensively collected many examples of Non-LEGO brick. It is a little odd to think TLG would truly care much that about Bricklink to try and discredit you. Most sellers on Bricklink have aggregated their feedback percentages in the years prior to the TLG buyout. Also, I am the last to defend the whole thing as good, I actually ended up quoted in the mainstream media for my opposition to the whole thing (Seriously, look it up, some Journo came looking. Actually one of my prouder moments). An individual on the site is not a corporate schill and we are not that here either. For the years of transactions on Bricklink, I have only had non-LEGO when I purchased from sellers that TLG routed from the site, sellers who only dealt in custom parts. If your experience is that poor, is there a chance to contest the sale through your Credit Card or Payment broker? Packing it up and sending it back is possibly covered under consumer protection law.
