  1. It is a little hard to tell for certain, but it appears to be 90s/00s Best Lock. Did all the parts come as one bundle or were they part of a bulk brick lot?
  2. Got to say, this looks like a bit of a You Problem and not an actual issue. It looks like Reddit agrees too. Buying new and sealed is a bit of a lottery the older a set is; unless it was stored in a museum quality archive, your boxed set could have been through a lot. Glue perishes, rubber degrades (all polymers are shockingly active in a chemical sense) Cardboard sheds, cycling humidity and temperatures can cause reactions. A good way to tell if bricks are fake though, they rarely bother to reproduce the TLG codes/marks on elements. Buy a brand new set from a LEGO store and you can compare that to find the aberrations. There can also be a difference in how the elements sound, both the click when parts are combined, or when rummaged together.
  3. Ok, Cloney made a nice warning. Imma make the less nice warning: This is for LEGO discussion, not Movie Debate. Take it somewhere else, there is a whole Culture and Multimedia section you can chat in. Stick to the brick, or the thread might need a brief pause so you move along.
  4. Hello, new members need to have ten posts before the message system is accessible. It's to prevent spam bots accessing the feature.
  5. No problem! The classic smiley head with the pigtails is from the Classic Town blog, I used to be part of it while it was still active. The Ostrich was from a Prince of Persia contest from back when that was an active theme (a while ago). The goat tag actually predates the LEGO goat, I used to have an MSN icon goat until the official goat arrived. That is a bit of a joke with the staff and fellows, hence why it is unique (no, I am not an old goat! But there is a lot of context, hence the in-joke). The Stud Lover tag is what it says on the tin; I like to build with studs showing proudly, I don't think it has been given out in a while, but I am going to take a good look at people's MOC body of work to see if anyone new qualifies. Customiser is from the Minifig Custom workshop, I used to make some custom capes and other garments from paper (When I had access to CAD). Nya's logo is one I had made for a big Ninjago contests I ran and I did like it a lot so I use it, the same with the Elves symbol. Sky-Fi was awarded from Special Themes as there was a time I built a lot of MOCs in that style. My country flag is Wales. I am Welsh. I'm going to try and get more active in giving people tags. There are a lot and they are fun.
  6. Ooo, that is an old one! Some of the very old tags were created by previous/retired staff, so their purpose is lost to time...
  7. When I was a child and I wanted to build something very big, I did have to settle for it being more than one colour, and having to use printed parts that might not match the theme, and using LEGO that had been manufactured in the 70s and had taken a little bit of sun damage. It didn't discourage me from building the thing and sometimes we got inventive to make the build work (say, a castle with different coloured towers etc). Truly, I only learned that is was something to be upset or ashamed over when I joined the online community (which at the time was mostly ten years or so older than me and Male, with a percentage of those my age. Who were also Male mostly building Bionicle, Halo tributes and amassing Clone/Storm Trooper minifigures). By that time, I could go to a PaB wall and get a lot of parts and I had the money to do it too, so it wasn't a big deal and I still cheerfully shared old photos of childhood builds. I found when displaying alone at a comic con (the only LEGO presence in place) where I brought along a big bin of clone parts, the children didn't care too much about matching colours either. But that is just anecdotal.
  8. There is a sort of master list in one of the staff sections which is more of a reference/source for tags and tagging for staff. The special tags are awarded for various reasons like contest prizes or helping staff. Some of them are in-jokes between long term community members or related to sadly defunct projects on the site. Like Member Titles, they are given out but not on request
  9. I thought it fit and I had to check things were working didn't I? Enjoy.
  10. Yes, and it works for me too.
  11. Wow, you really captured it in LEGO brick form and minifig scale. That would look excellent in any town. Thanks for sharing
  12. Just a little detail, but the pressure dial in the Steampunk Inventor's gear would look great on the instrument panel/dashboard of an adventure vehicle and the legs would not look out of place in a custom adventurer figure. It also depends on the flavour of adventure you like, but the brown "paper hat" would look perfect for characters with a military background. (Saw it in a post about online PaB/BaM parts).
  13. Hey peoples: It would be kind of great if you could tell us a real reason for changes especially with such new/low post count accounts. Thanks
  14. I always use the Admin Panel part? I think it gets muddy on staff profiles who has authority to do what, but it's the same way I apply tags to members. No problems We can have a great laugh as a community sometimes but I forget that things I learned/lived happened a long while ago now! (E.g. My Goat Tag is a long running in joke)
  15. That is a very atmospheric build. I also love those technic gears as wall carvings. Thanks for sharing
  16. That is a Member title, those get given by different staff to members for whatever reason takes their fancy. Essentially, if you get noticed for something positive/funny a by staff, they add a "title" to your profile. Mine is currently "Likes Chess" because of my contribution to the Eurobricks Brickworld Collab last summer. I have given some in the past that backfired a little , I have also given them out for kind people, cool builds, interesting things... It is like the extra member tags. Just a little bonus for active members.
  17. It's quite clear why it is in place. Ten posts isn't a difficult total achive.
  18. Welcome to the forum, it is always nice to see more MOC builders. I hope your boys keep enjoying LEGO for a long long time with you.
  19. Another 2025 thread, with the old posts split here.
  20. This post will end up landing wherever once split the posts from the discussion from 2024, but it looks a lot tidier to have a 2025 thread now.
  21. Yea, this really doesn't need to be bumped @Renny The SpacemanI think you need to check the last date a post was made in a thread before you post. If there is a pre COVID date, just don't post. Good rule of thumb.
  22. Indeed, once upon a time there would be an advert page in The Beano, a promotional flyer in the newsagents that sold LEGO (those were such treasured places in my childhood!). Now there are lots more places to advertise, but there are also new rules to work within.
  23. I would love some theme banner concepts for action themes
  24. You really only need one post/topic. So this one can stay live.
