  1. Hm, interesting question. Even though DLuders is right, I'm still not sure what TLG would actually say. I mean, it's not a major business we're talking about An alternative is I think to use another tool, like MLCad or SR3D. About rights to screenshots, they would be yours as far as I understand. When you create something articstic, then you are by international copyright laws the owner of that work. Compare to an artist making a piece of music, or a painter. There can always be debate wether a Lego model has enough "artistic height" to be concidered protected by said laws. Also, it can be debated how novel a LEGO model can be, since you always draw inspiration from others. An other thing is off couse the potential rights to the design of the car you have modeled, but I'm not sure if a lego model in that sence can be concidered a depiction, like a photo, and if that is then valid. And on the matter, I don't know how TLG themselves view their rights to their models, has anyone read any copyright messages on the box or instructions? Just realised I put more qustions then anwers in this post
  2. Hello all 1) About Legoland tickets for our group: It's 25 pounds per person per day. The days and persons need to be decided in advance, and all tickets need to be payed at once (not possible to allow individual participants to pay separately). Normal entryfee at Legoland Windsor 41 pounds (from what I was told). If we want to do a group booking, I'm gladly handing that over to someone else to arrange that and handle all the money re-inbursements. 2) About Sunningdale Park. It is a conference center during the week and I was just informed that therefore they allow children only for weekends. This is a big setback for me as I was planning to take my family like Dfenz did last year. I'm looking into alternative solutions for my family. Anyway, for all the rest of you guys, the booking details are now clear: a) The rooms are reserved until 13th of may, so you have until then to pay. When you pay, you pay a 10%, non-refundable booking fee. After that you have until noon the day before arrival to cancel, and you will then only loose the 10%. b) The rooms are like mentioned £65 for twin, including breakfast, and £55 for single. c) Booking the room will be done by each room-responsible calling and stating a booking code to get the good rate. I'll get back with that info. d) The social room is available for us after 18.00 for free. If we want something before, we might have to pay for it.
  3. Working for one of the large truck manufacturer, I find it really nice to watch these amazing models. Thanks a lot for sharing
  4. Oki-doki. In order for us to get the £25 entrance fee, we probably need to pre-book, but I don't know how many days in advance. I'll check it out. About hotel reservations, I'm getting the final booking setup tomorrow, but this is most likely how it will work: Each of us will ourselves book our room using a common booking code (to get the good price). It will then work as an ordinary hotel booking, i.e. erach person responsible for one room each have to contact the hotel, leave a credit card number (for assurance), and then be responsible to pay, or possibly cancel if that is needed. This way we make it simple for all involved. But like I said - i'll be back with the details tomorrow Please also note that the social room is free for hotel quests. For all others coming to the event, and wanting you join in the fun in the evenings (building, chatting, competing, having the odd beer etc), there might be a small fee (a few pounds). OK, that's it for now... EDIT: Just got reply from the YOuth Hostel central Booking - no Youth Hostels available in the vincinity for all of us. Not that it matters, but good to know I suppose.
  5. What about the Legoland tickets? The booking agency I talked to can arrange corporate priced tickets at £25 a day. Is this a good price?
  6. I downloaded IE9 and also had problem with inserting links. The solution for this problem was to turn on compatability mode (thanks for the tip Siegfried): 1) press the ALT -key 2) On the Tools menu that appear, click Compatabiliyt mode 3) Done I'm not sure if it's a Microsoft bug, or an Invision problem (the makers of our board), but for now, it's a workaround. Big Cam - can you see if it also solves your problem? EDIT: Just noticed there are some anomalities - for example I see that the Cancel button when editing a post is not wrapped correctly...but at least it works.
  7. Topic Moved to the LDD forum General info - please note that this is a one year old topic that was bumped. I'm not sure how relevant it is anymore. Can someone answer sracz?
  8. Too bad. I was really looking forward to another chance of beating you in table football again But....family first as they say.
  9. Yepp - and it's called bad programming No, but seriously, I re-wrote the queries completely so now it's ultra fast and no hick-ups. Will have a new version out shortly. Might however wait for the new LDD to come out first, to check if any bricks have changed etc. (I'm guessing that there is a new version soon, since they always come out early april when DbM updates their brick selection).
  10. OK, update: We have three alternatives in the initial search and based on the fact that we want to stay together, and have a room for socialising: 1. Sunningdale Park - a hotel and conference centre about 10 minutes drive south from Legoland can offer twin rooms for £65 per night and single rooms for £55 per night. This includes breakfast. Dinner at an extra cost of £15 per person. They are able to offer a private room in the evening free of charge. They only have 8 twin rooms available each night, so the rest would need to be singles. http://maps.google.se/maps/place?cid=715327524511799823&q=sunningdale+park&gl=se&checkin_date=&num_nights=0&ved=0CBAQ-QswAA&sa=X&ei=SMuITZi7EcG__gbz9oCyCQ 2. Holiday In T5 at the airport about 8 miles from Legoland can do twin rooms for £65 including breakfast. They do not have a private room available but can section off part of the restaurant for us. http://maps.google.se/maps/place?cid=3937808782740692846&q=Holiday+Inn+t5&hl=en&gl=se&checkin_date=&num_nights=0&ved=0CBkQ-QswAA&sa=X&ei=StOITeHOJNyd_AaEtZjUAg 3. Lastly Copthorne in Slough/Windsor - a four star hotel with leisure facilities, about 10 minutes drive from Legoland can offer twin rooms for £85 (including breakfast). A private room would be available at a cost of £120 (Thursday) £175 (Friday). http://maps.google.se/maps/place?hl=en&rlz=1T4GGLL_enSE360SE360&um=1&ie=UTF-8&q=copthorne+hotel+slough&fb=1&gl=se&hq=copthorne+hotel&hnear=Slough,+UK&cid=1581875598490180401 So, these are the first three options. What do you think? Personally, I'm not sure about the cozy factor, but I'm not sure how important that is, and how high demands we can have taken the short Also, the booking place I was in contact with can offer Legoland tickets at £25 each.
  11. Search is now initiated. Reply estimated tomorrow. I've given this criteria: 1) Arrive: 2nd june. Leave 5th june. 2) Guests - mix of single adults and families with children. 3) Must be able to host all of us (calculated based on 25 people). If we cannot be in the same hotel, there must be walking distance between hotels 4) Distance to Legoland - not super important as long as we can take a bus (like shuttlebus) there 5) Type of accomodation (B&B, Hotel, Youth hostel etc) - not important at this momement 6) Availability to socialise/conference room (where we can be in the evening, have contests etc) - important 7) Price - I've said that we should be on the lower end of the scale. Speaking of price - what is affordable BTW, i.e how much per person per night in a shared room for 4 (as an example)?
  12. Sure, I can do that. Regarding B&B - the likelihood of finding one now that can host us all is probably very slim - and if we do find B&B we will be spread across the countryside - at least that's my guess But, let us pay 5 pounds and see what happens. I'll get back here soon then.....
  13. Someimes a bit of cross posting at EB cannot be avoided - just check this out over at the Technics forum http://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=53200 Blakbird has done some amasing animated renderings.
  14. I propose the following We try to find a hotel, youth-hostel or similar were everyone can stay and that have a place (conference room, gathering room) were we can have day or evening activites like in Billund. For me this is worth so much to be able to meet in the morning for breakfast, talk about stuff, meet up in the afternoon, building together etc - just like we did in Billund. So I vote for NOT spreading us out all out in various bed & breadfasts in the country side. Now, a simiple solution would off course to book us in one of the larger hotels near Windsor. OK, it may not e walking distance to Legoland, actually it may be several miles from Legoland, but such is life. Also, a yout hostel would be super, but I'm not sure about availability at this stage. Naturally, a hotel room is not cheap, and it's not as cozy as a smaller place, but I prefere us together rather then anything else. What I've done is the following 1) I called the tourist information and asked. http://www.windsor.gov.uk/site/contact-us. Now, they wanted 5 pounds to do a hotel search, so I decided to search myself (point 3 below). 2) Called YTH (youth hostels) call center. They are doing a search for us now and will get back within 24 hours. The closest one is about 20 miles away though. Price is about 20 pounds per person per night. 3) searching for hotels. I'm here at the moment: http://www.windsor.gov.uk/site/accommodation/hotels OK, update: Called Royal Holloway University of London - 24 rooms available, 25 pounds to 50 pounds per nite - however, no social space available for evening activites. Placed in mostly a resedential area in Surrey. Pretty far from Legoland. Doesn't sound so promisigin. Have to go now, perhaps someone can take it from here....
  15. Hi Snipe Sorry to have to start this welcome like this, but please remember this is an AFOL site, so we do ask that you start sentences with capital letters, use proper punctuation etc. Thanks!
  16. Excellent tutorial! I'll put a link in the index topic
  17. I think that's called an optimization error and it is caused when LDD removes the hidden surfaces of a brick, for example when it is covered by a stud or another brick. By removing unused surfaces, less data has to be handled and the model can be rotated more smoothly. But sometimes this optimization is apperantly not working as intended. For fun, I tried to put a 1x1 cone in the holes, and it gives similar results.
  18. Hi DLuders Regarding 10 min posts, I gave Trainee rights to do post, so no problem, but thanks for pointing it out. And regarding the Megaupload - I appreciate it, but I'd prefer to have a single download site, just to be able to keep track of which version is the most current etc. If you could remove it from MegaUpLoad, I'd be greatful. If Skydrive continues to be a problem for more users, I guess I have to switch (perhaps to Megaupload )
  19. I'll look into this. Hang on. EDIT: Well, I can't figure out what the problem is. The file is 12 Mb, and skydrive has a 50Mb limit for uploads, for which I assume it has the a 50Mb download limit. So, until I hear that that others report the same problem, I assume it has to be with your local connection? Anyway, I'll try to help you out. If you PM me your mail adress, I'll mail you the file.
  20. Can you try to close the windscreens a couple of more times. I sometimes find that hinged bricks will close shut if you close them more "gently".
  21. Well, it should definitely work. It's hosted on SkyDrive, which is the Microsoft Live site, and I've never heard of anyone having problems downloading from there, but maybe some of the other forums members can help out?
  22. About attaching LXF-files. Yes, it's possible to attach to a post (max 100kb), but the main drawback is that since space is so limited, the risk is that you have to deleted the file to attach another one, and then we are left with a forum full of "emtpy" links. So, if including a LXF in a post, it is prefered that they are linked in from a Brickshelf account, Google or Hotmail SkyDrive or similar. Also, regarding posting MOCs, they should normally be posted in the respective theme here at EB. Only MOCs where you share your LXF-files should be posted in the LDD forum (since it then becomes of more general interestes to other LDD builders). But, having said all the above, in this particular case I think the MOC is so special (modular), and you've shown a nice way of presenting it with the space backdrops, that I think it can go here even without the LXF
  23. So, the question we've all been wondering - are any of the designers at TLG using LDD for their design work? Sure they are! As an example, legendary designer Steen Sig Andersen used LDD to design this exclusive set, the 21100 Shinkai 6500 (described in detail here): (Box photo curtesy of CM!) Here is Steen in front of LDD, and some of the other models he has made, also with great probability designed in LDD. Interstingly you can also see the model opened up in the TLG rendering software. You can also see the high level of detail of the bricks, where even the bevels of the bricks and the "LEGO" text on the studs is visible. Nice Read more about this model and the design work here
