Hi Ro87n Please note that general MOCs done in LDD should be posted in their respective theme forum here on EB. Only if you share your LXF-files, or if you have a question or similar about LDD should you post in the LDD forum. Thanks! I'm moving this into the Sci-Fi theme.

UPDATE January 2012 There is no longer any need to manually unlock the Extended Mode - it is available to all users when simply installing LDD Unlock all the bricks in LDD with LDD Extended Mode (This information by kind permission of the LDD Development Team in Billund) With the release of LDD 4.1 comes a new mode - LDD Extended - that you need to manually activate. So what about the "old" Lego Universe mode? Well, it is now activated for all users out-of the-box - no need to edit the preferences.ini file to see it. However (and this is important), the new Universe mode does not have all the bricks we are used to. Luckily, the LDD Team in Billund (thanks guys!) have thought about us more hardcore LDD fans and has given us LDD Extended mode which again unlocks all bricks. Also, please be aware that LEGO is making LDD Extended mode available to us LDD fans as-is. LEGO takes no responsibility for this mode and there is no support available. How to unlock LDD Extended mode Please do NOT re-post this information on the internet. Instead, link to this post. Thank you. For windows users 1. Close down LDD 2. Find the file preferences.ini the LEGO Digital Designer folder. For Windows 7 and Vista it can be found here C:\Users\UserName\AppData\Roaming\LEGO Company\LEGO Digital Designer\preferences.ini For Windows XP here: C:\Documents And Settings\UserName\ApplicationData\Lego Company\Lego Digital Designer\preferences.ini NOTE: If you can't find this folder, the read here how to make it visible OR simply enter %appdata% into the Explorer address bar (or Start menu search box) which will automagically open the right place (thanks Andy for the tip) 3. Open preferences.ini in a text editor and add the line: ThemeAccess=LDDExtended 4. Save the file 5. Restart LDD and now you have access to LDD Extended Mode For mac users. 1. Close down LDD 2. Find the file preferences.ini in /User/Library/Application Support/LEGO Company/LEGO Digital Designer/preferences.ini 3. Open it in a text editor and add the line: ThemeAccess=LDDExtended 4. Save the file 5. Restart LDD and now you have access to a LEGO Universe palette Regarding LION on the Mac (thanks to Vynsane for the info) With this newest release of the Macintosh Operating System, the "Library" folder in each individual "User" folder is hidden by default. You will first need to unhide it in order to access the directory structure "{hard drive name}/Users/{user name}/Library/Application Support/LEGO Company/LEGO Digital Designer/preferences.ini" Open Terminal (via the 'Go' menu when in Finder and selecting 'Utilities', then double-clicking 'Terminal') and type the following (replace {user name} with your actual user name): chflags nohidden /users/{user name}/library This will unhide that directory, allowing you access to the folders therein, including the files necessary to activate 'Extended Mode' per above. Want to discuss Extended Mode? Go HERE to discuss Extended Mode, questions, issues, problems etc. ================ Extended Mode Q & A Q: If I activate LDD Extended mode, will LDD still automatically update over the internet when a new version is released? A: Yes Q: If I design in LDD Extended mode, will the model also open with LDD on computers that do not have this mode activated? A: Yes Q: Does Lego offer any end-user support on Extended mode? A: No Q: Are all colors available in LDD Extended mode? A: Well most of them. Unlike for the other modes, there is a Legacy section with a selection of discontinued colors.

Looking for Part in LDD
Superkalle replied to JasonM's topic in Digital LEGO: Tools, Techniques, and Projects
Have to agree with Vincent. Try to download any of the LXF-files you can find in this topic to see how it's done: http://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=41733 -
[Software] LDD Manager
Superkalle replied to Superkalle's topic in Digital LEGO: Tools, Techniques, and Projects
Thanks for the input Alienwar. And I think I understand better now what you mean. And as usual, I think your massive LXF-files are more then LDD Manager (and even LDD) was ment to handle -
[Software] LDD Manager
Superkalle replied to Superkalle's topic in Digital LEGO: Tools, Techniques, and Projects
I'm not 100% sure exactly what you want to do, but there are two ways to find differences between LXF-files in LDD Method 1: Compare two models Will give you a list of bricks that exist only in one model, that exist in both, and that exist only in the other. This method will not give you the brick count, but is quick to use. Method 2: Model Commonality Analysis This method will give you brick count. To use this feature, you first need to add the models you want to analyse to Model Groups. You can inlude any number of models. This method will give you a pivot view of all the elements on one axis, and the models that use them on the other, including count. About different totals in excel vs. LDD Manager, I'd really like to learn more about that. Can you send me some LXF and the corresponding Excel, and I'll look into it. PS: About sorting and filtering in Excel - I re-wrote a number of queries in the latest version (will be released soon), so that will make it a lot snappier, specially when working with really big LXF-files -

Could you please give a typicial scenario when you would need the feature? I'm guessing that you have made multiple models, and some of them may contain the same part in the same color (i.e. the same ElementID in Lego-lingo), and what you want is an aggregate, so you can pick/check/order all the physcial parts for those models at one time. Correct? Also, have you tried the Model Commonality Analysis feature? Does that perhaps do what you want? -
Please note that LDD MOCs should be posted in the respective theme here at Eurobricks. Only if you share your LXF or want LDD support, should you post here. Also, you would do well in croping your pics conciderably. I'm moving this to "LEGO Town"

How to book accomodation for the EB 2011 Event at Windsor Hotel booking set-up is now finalized. You can now go ahead and book your room for the EB 2011 Windsor Event Please read all of this carefully. Rooms have now been allocated for us at Sunningdale Park (a very nice hotel and conference centre in a green environment about 10 minutes drive south from Legoland). However, we will not make the booking directly towards the hotel, but instead a booking agency will do that for us. To book a room, you need a credit card and then you need to either call or email the booking agency. Contact info: Phone: 0044 1753 743900 E-mail: windsor.accommodation@rbwm.gov.uk Very important When booking, be sure to mention the following booking code that is for our group: LG0611 Please note carefully 1) Each room is to be booked separately. You need to yourself call or e-mail the above agency to make your booking. 2) For each room, a room-booking-person needs to be appointed. For single rooms, this is obviously the person staying there, For twins, you have to agree amongst yourselfs (see list below). 3) The prices are £65 for a twin and £55 for single. Breakfast is included. 4) A credit card is needed to make the booking 5) As mentioned earlier, children are not allowed during weekdays - only weekends. 6) After you have booked, there is a 10% non-refundable cancellation fee, i.e. if you cancel the room you loose that money. Rooms can be canceled up until 24 hours before arrival. These are the rooms, who stays in them, arrival date and depart date Single1 LegoStein 01-jun 05-jun Single2 --> BOOKED Sir Norman Ray 01-jun 05-jun Single3 Ras74 01-jun 05-jun Twin1 --> BOOKED CopMike 01-jun 05-jun Etzel 02-jun 05-jun Twin2 --> BOOKED Christian 01-jun 05-jun Quarryman 01-jun 05-jun Twin3 --> BOOKED Boney 31-maj 05-jun Captain GH 31-maj 05-jun Twin4 --> BOOKED Pally 31-maj 05-jun Pally Extra 31-maj 05-jun Twin 5 --> BOOKED Aredhel 01-jun 05-jun PepperMint M 01-jun 05-jun Twin 6 --> BOOKED Holodoc 01-jun 05-jun Snefroe 01-jun 05-jun Twin 7+8 Superkalle 01-jun 05-jun ??Superkalle Extra 03-jun 05-jun ??Superkalle Extra 03-jun 05-jun ??Superkalle Extra 03-jun 05-jun (I'm marked with ?? since I need to work out some alternative accomodation during the weekdays with my family). When is LDD/PAB updated?
Superkalle replied to RubeusHagrid's topic in Digital LEGO: Tools, Techniques, and Projects
The last two years the DbM palette has been updated early April, so its no surprise if it is done the same time this year as well. -
Steampunk Hotwing
Superkalle replied to Lalror's topic in Digital LEGO: Tools, Techniques, and Projects
I really like that the colors stand out so cool against the black background. Super. For the rest, I think I'll agree with Brickdoctor -
OK, update Since children cannot stay during the weekdays, I'm looking into other accomodation for those days. Right now I'm waiting for confirmation that the group discount is still valid even though we cancel two twin rooms for a number of days. I will get info tomorrow. Hang on

This is a forum for AFOLs (Adult fans of LEGO), and as such we ask our members to post as such. You need to be more specific if you have any problems. A "This does not work for me" is not very helpful. LDD LU Mode is used to build various content. All I know is that certains fans use it (don't know about programmers). After that, the LDD designs are converted to LU graphics format and incorporated in the game. Perhaps the screenshots you show are ones from when models have been moved into the game developers environment? But I'm stretching my knowledge here, so I better be quiet now

How do I put some stuff in?
Superkalle replied to LegoCityFanatic's topic in Digital LEGO: Tools, Techniques, and Projects
@prateek: I wouldn't call it an illegal connection since it's not really a connection at all. To your question LegoCityFanatic, prateek is completely correct in that you need to build some supporting structure around, place the brick, and then remove the scafolding thus leaving the brick "floating". In future version of LDD we're all hoping for some sort of feature to "free-place" bricks like you ask. -
Ah, cool that you got hold of one eventually. Great review guys

[Software] LDD Manager
Superkalle replied to Superkalle's topic in Digital LEGO: Tools, Techniques, and Projects
You're welcome -
This is not entirely true Lego Universe was developed to allow certain, selected fans to help out build content for LEGO Universe. These fans had to sign a NDA (Non Disclosure Agreement) to get access to LU Mode, and hence the information about LU Mode never reached the general fan community. After some time (I'm guessing a year or so), the LDD Development Team, after a lot of concideration, said "OK, why not let the entire fan community get access to the LU Mode". This was done in April 2010. So this means that yes, LU Mode was developed directly as a way to support game development. Also, since I don't play the game myself, I'm curios what you mean that not all bricks in Lego Universe have produce physcially - which ones do you mean?

[Software] LDD Manager
Superkalle replied to Superkalle's topic in Digital LEGO: Tools, Techniques, and Projects
Good question. I'll look into it. In the meantime, the easy work-around is to simply select the entire part list (Ctrl-A), and copy-paste into the Calc - because that's basically what that "Export to Excel"-button does. -
Custom Instruction
Superkalle replied to fabulous_bricks's topic in Digital LEGO: Tools, Techniques, and Projects
In any case fabolous-bricks, I woudn't worry about it too much. Give it a go and see if you manage to sell any instructions. If it turns into a million dollar business, then TLG-lawyers may pay you a visit Anyway, let us know how it goes - it's an interesting project in any case -
Are you talking about collecting all the money for the LEGOland tickets, because then yes, it is needed that someone helps with that (in case we go for those group tickets). However for the hotel, the idea is that everyone reserves and pays for it themselves. Then we avoid that whole process of one person has to collect the money etc. Regarding room for you Holodoc, you are now teamed up with the very nice Mr. Etzel

Wow! Excellent idea and excellent work. Good that you got permission too. -
load unsaved file?
Superkalle replied to alienwar9's topic in Digital LEGO: Tools, Techniques, and Projects
I don't think either that the work can be recovered - don't know of any backup or temp-files created by LDD. Sorry.
