  1. Just for general information, there is already a topic about this fine publication here at EB, since Carlos from the magazine usually creates a topic of his own. For issue #14, the topic is here
  2. I have Chrome, and it worked if I used the "English Preview". The PDF download however didn't work (it stopped downloading after a minute or two).
  3. HispaBrick Magazine issue #014 released A new copy of the excellent HispaBrick Magazine is out. To download, go here. Note that the download link is a few rows down where it says "English HispaBrick Magazine 014". After reading, feel free to discuss here

Hello there and welcome to Eurobricks. Really nice looking model, even though I notice the roof might need some reinforcement if you plan to build with real bricks I'm moving this topic to the Town forum. In the Digital Designer forum we only allow MOC's that are of special interest to other LDD users or concern digital tools in general. You can read more in the section index.
  5. The general trend seems to be that new molds (not designID's, but physcial molds) have the hole, and older does not. Also, plates have them more often then bricks. I suppose you can make into a choice in LDD2PovRay. To keep it simple, I propose you make it so that either you add to the hole to all pins/bricks, or to none.
  6. Yes (and looking at it now I must say it makes a huge difference to the realism!) And please note that the indents should not be on the underside of technic studs but only on "normal" ones (with the LEGO logo)
  7. I'm talking about that very small hole (about 1 mm diameter) that is in the pin. Is that what you mean too? I'm not referring to the indent exactly opposite a stud, but that is a possibility too
  8. @Smartiac: I'm curious what the yellowish color is on the 1x2 and 1x3 plates on the belly of the dragon. Is it standard yellow? If so, it doesn't come out too good in the rendering (so nothing wrong with your MOC:classic:). BTW: great looking model. The nose with the nostrels is a genius NPU @Hrontos. Idea for future versions: the pins on the underside of some bricks and plates could have small holes in them to make it look more realistic. It's the 1 x X bricks and plates I'm referring too (sorry about the humongous pic, but I couldn't find any other right now):
  9. Nah, it will soon fall into oblivion...maybe to be discovered by some future internet archaeologists
  10. No problem making a new topic. Unfortunately I don't have an answer, but maybe someone else does?
  11. I'm taking the liberty of moving this topic to the Digital Designer section
  12. He only has 8 posts, so you can't send a PM. He needs 10 posts.
  13. Aha...a design challenge - who can resist that Here's two proposals. The foreground one is similar to what you had, just shifted the brown bracket up In the background one I used 1x1 brick with stud on the side.
  14. This is a forum for AFOLs (Adult Fans of LEGO), and looking at how you write, I'd say you're a bit too young. Sorry about that, but our age policy is all in the site guidelines. PM me if you have any questions.
  15. We have a topic for most wanted bricks in the next release of LDD. But wanted decorations tend to get lost in there. So I thought it was time we put some focus on them with a fresh new topic So go ahead and start wishing. And be sure to add a link to BrickLink (or include a small thumbnail) so it's easy to see exactly which decoration you are refering to. EDIT: while we're at it, let's also include multiple colored elements, like this and this and this
  16. Forgive my ignorance, but why is the minifig pixelated?
  17. Fantastic review KDM
  18. Good find. Reported to LEGO. The brick is most likely modeled as a square block, and not with the "waist", so it needs to be remodeled. Good find. Reported to the guys at TLG. You can make the old 3063 macaroni-bricks fit at a 45 degree rotated angle with a bit of tweaking. There are instructions here on the forum (can't remember where right now though...try to search for macaroni). The new one will not work however, either in LDD or in real life. Good find. Reported. It's a known bug. I don't know why the LDD team does not fix it, since it's so obviously wrong.
  19. It seems the LXF-file is corrupt/bad (only 1kb in size).
  20. I'd like to point to the official Ldraw forum over here: http://forums.ldraw.org/ That's the best place for brick requests, and also to offer a helping hand. Naturally, anyone is free to post questions about design techniques, renderings, tools etc here, but for brick authoring and other ldraw platform related things, the ldraw forum is the best.
  21. I'd like to ask some feedback about colors. As Hrontos mentioned, I was involved in trying to create a good color palette. I made endless renditions to compare with official TLG product photos. In this work, I was lucky to find some un-photoshoped product photos floating around the internet, and the goal was that LDD2PovRay should generate as realistic colors as possible right out of the box. Even so, I know some of the colors could be improved. Blue for example I struggled with a lot, and also Light Bluish Grey and Dark Bluish Gray. So if you have some ideas for better RGB-values, please share them Also, I'd like to take the opportunity to clearify some things about the Call-back virtual filesystem. Some of you may be wondering - why is it needed? Why not let PovRay read the geometrise directly? Well, it was decided quite early to run this project completely by the book, since LDD2PovRay would use the LDD geometries and it would violate the EULA to use them without permission. So I was asked to mediate some contacts with TLG which I gladly did. TLG said that as a first step, the geometries need to be fully protected. And the call-back system does just that - it allows only PovRay to access the geometries.
  22. Generally there are more parts in Ldraw, specially older ones. On the other hand LDD tends to have more of the absolute latest ones. I guess it also depends on what parts you use. If you look at the most common parts used in sets, lets say for the past 10 years, I'd say the two platforms are pretty much even and very complete. Anyway, some rough estimate part counts (excluding decorations): LDD: approx 2500 Ldraw: approx 3500 PS: Ldraw has more decorations if that is important (and the ability to add custom decorations).
