Contest Contest: Pimp My Camper! Entry Thread
Superkalle replied to Rufus's topic in Special LEGO Themes
Out of contest entry As EB staff can't enter the contest, this entry won't be possible to vote for. But since I really like doing these kind of small builds, I thought I'd share them anyway Original Original, but a few pieces changed in the front and by the rear wheel houses to make it more realistic. With lowered tent and sunroof The white version Transporter Pick-up Short Limo Racer The Dakar Edition: Monster Jam Retro -
Hi there and welcome to Eurobricks I'll move this topic into the Town section, where you hopefully can get feedback. The LDD Forum is more for taking about tools and methods, and not so much showcase individual MOCs

Early LEGO in Norway, Sweden, Finland
Superkalle replied to LEGO Historian's topic in General LEGO Discussion
And I noticed the volvo link at the end of your post I've noticed some peculiar and almost mysterious similarities between the companies Both are Scandinavian Both have the same core values - Quality and Safety (with the addition of Environment in recent years) Both make vehicles, although in different scale Both have latin names - Volvo = I roll, LEGO = I put together Both were started (with current names) around the 1930's The headquarters of Volvo Trucks, and where Volvo was founded is in Lundby - the same place where the first LEGO distributor in Sweden were located Both companies in recent years became the worlds largest manufacturers in their fields (trucks and toys) Both company names ends with an o The CEO of LEGO drives a Volvo need I go on -
Yeah, it seems many of the rare/unofficial colors turn up at seller in Germany, Denmark and UK

This mostly happens when the top and bottom half of the mold are unaligned. You can spot this by putting the bricks together, then take them apart and rotate 180 degrees and try again. If there is a difference, they are unaligned. In this case (like all others like it) I would contact LEGO Customer Service. Talk to a representative and ask for replacement bricks (all of the ones you belive are un-aligned). Offer to send a photo. This is the best way to get feedback into the quality department at the factory. (However, don't confuse this with the fact that bricks are slightly tapered, otherwise they wouldn't come out of the mold. This taper will create a noticeable gap between bricks, so if you gently drag your nail from bottom to top of a stack you should feel a slight "catch" between each brick.)

Well, it's more then "not recognized by LDD". It's a highly "illegal" connection from a LEGO system perspective. First the flanges of the blue pin will be in constant compression, damaging them over time. Secondly the connection is not very secure - the pin will easily slide out. The solution in the 5928 Bi-Wing Baron on the other hand is different, because the flange of the Technic pin can expand into the cavities of the four holes in the "1x1 brick with four studes on the side". So, in this case I wouldn't recommend the solution even if it would be possible to cheat in LDD and scaffold it in place.

LDD 5, what features do YOU want?
Superkalle replied to BasOne's topic in Digital LEGO: Tools, Techniques, and Projects
There is a solution (or partly a solution anyway): When a brick is removed because it is illegaly placed, a file named UnplaceableBricksDump.lxfml will be created in folder: C:\Users\[uSERNAME]\AppData\Roaming\LEGO Company (for win7). Open that file with Notepad, and search for materials="21" (21 is the color red). It will show you which bricks(s) were removed. -
Seems renowned company AirFix is now getting into the studded business. Read more here, including a link to a review by Gimme Bricks.

I just took the pieces out, and it's even visually clear that the x-axle will not be perpendicular to the other bricks. No matter how you press, it will "pop back up" a tiny amount. It's odd that the designers used this solution, because using a 3700 would solve the problem.

That has got to be one of the worst cases I've seen in a long time It's so bad, that I'm starting to wonder if instead of the 32064's, it should actually be 3700's, which would allow the flange of the technic axle to go into the groove of the 3700? I.e. that it's just an error in the building instruction guide. Has anyone built the Opera house physically yet and can check? EDIT: Great build Pbat BTW

What may be posted / not be posted
Superkalle replied to thehuuf's topic in Digital LEGO: Tools, Techniques, and Projects
It would be tricky because the LXF-doesn't contain any information about the geometry or collision volume of the bricks, just placement and rotation in the x-y-z space. The only way as I see would then be to "train" the software with correctly placed gears, and then compare with the "problematic" LXF. Could maybe be done, but probably very complex. -

Superkalle replied to thehuuf's topic in Digital LEGO: Tools, Techniques, and Projects
Some background first: The core issue here is that it's illegal and against the LDD EULA (End user license agreement) to reverse engineer, extract, modify or use any part of the LDD software, including brick data and geometries. I'm aware that it's possible to hack the LIF from a technical standpoint, and that there are people out there who have managed to do it. However, to maintain our good relationship with the LDD Team at TLG, it was decided some year ago that we wouldn't allow any discussion about hacking LDD at Eurobricks. The relationship we fans in the Digital Designer forum have with the LDD Team is too valuable to jepardise on some simple hack-talk. They read our forum and we are their main source of issue reports and requests. We are this because we are a serious forum. So if you ask what is possible to discuss and share here at EB (and most likely at any reputable AFOL site), the answer would be: 1. A lif file extractor / viewer - Not OK 2. A lif file modified (replace a file inside an existing lif file) - Nope 3. A part viewer (enter lif file, get a list of parts and pick one to view) - Njet 4. A part editor (gif it one of the more common 3d files and import it into lego / eventually with integrated editor) - Not allowed for LDD; but OK for Ldraw 5. LDD Sets Importer / Exporter (+ some database to index http://www.eurobrick...showtopic=41226 if given permission of the respective owners + credits in program) - not sure what it implies 6. Automatic collision fixer (give it a file, it will find gears and automatically align them correctly) - not possible since it would require the use of protected LDD brick data 7. Enter a model and the sets you have, and see if you can build it - OK And even if we did allow hacks, it still wouldn't be all positive. If someone fixes a brick geometry or collision volume, anyone else opening a LXF-file created with that LIF will get those bricks removed. It's much better then to report the bugs to the LDD Team and have them fix it, for the benefit of all. The fact that LXF-files can be opened and shared across all installations is a key "feature" of LDD. So, what about a tool like LDD2Povray? That tool uses the LDD geometries, right? Well, the simple answer in that case is that Hrontos has approval from the LDD Team to use the geometry data. But on one condition - that the geometries are protected and that's the reason for the virtual encrypted file-system driver that is installed with LDD2PovRay. Now, what IS allowed on the other hand, is to open and modify LXFs in any possible way since LXFML is an open standard. -
LDD 4.3.6 bugs

OK, so in total: 6141 1x1 round plate - with stud side in only 4624 rim - with hubcap side in (naturally) 6590 bushing - both sides in correct? As for 6590, it will actually fit I notice (no collision errors), and it's quite easy to scaffold it in place with a cross-axle. -

Superkalle replied to Superkalle's topic in Digital LEGO: Tools, Techniques, and Projects
Should 6141 attach the other way to? Or is there a grove in 4288 that accepts a stud? I'm asking because the geometry of 4288 in LDD is no so detailed. Yeah, that is an annoying one -

I have exactly the same problem. This is when you realize that today's LDD platform would sorely need a bit of updating. Like with the overcrowded brick palette that's hard to navigate, or trying to look at the super-small decoration previews, or the color palette that won't fit on a small screen, or.... -

Super work Aanchir, and with set statistics  How is the situation on minifig heads/helmets? I've got a few SW helmets in the list that are quite common, like stormtroopers. Are there any other that need coloring possibility?
