  1. Won't that become more expensive than buying a complete CC on eBay? I sat yesterday and tried to bricklink as many Black Seas Barracuda parts as possible from one seller, just to check out if it could be done. When I came to 100 dollars I stopped, and at that time I still needed to find 3 of the sails, two of the middle section hulls, all the minifigs, barrel, many of the "wings/wedges", all the biggest of the plates, the flags and the figure head. Plus a few somewhat regular bricks
  2. I think it's cheaper to buy the ship as a complete set. Ship hulls, masts, and the sails are pretty expensive, and if you on top of that also buy all the other bricks my guess is that the total is more expensive than a complete CC from eBay
  3. Finally - I've been waiting for a review of this set for ages! I've even considered buying a set on ebay, just build it and review it But even in opened condition that set is too expensive for me right now. I'm not sure I would have bought a MISB just to open it, but might have bought that 200 dollars set that you linked to instead. BUT I can definitely see the point of getting a fuzzy feeling inside from opening such an amazing classic set for the first time ever. Thank you for the review. May I suggest that you in the future use the function "Macro" when you take pictures close up? And in bright light so you don't have to use a flash. I really really loved to see all the pictures iof the box. I've been searching the internet for a long time trying to find such good pictures of the box.
  4. I already have a picture of some of my treasure in my PTVII entry
  5. This should be fun - so we'll check with the inventory lists at peeron for each set we have (opened) and post the number here? Or do we go trough all of our LEGO and count every coin we find? What about diamonds?
  6. Svelte +1 Erdbeereis +1 SlyOwl +
  7. It would be sweet if you could review that set. We still haven't got a review of it, and I would love to see it. My parents got a HUGE barrel full of LEGO from one of my moms co-workers, for the price of... two bottles of red wine. They have all the LEGO so my daughter and her cousins can play with it whenever they visit my parents :) anywho... among all the LEGO bricks, there was most of the Firebreathing Fortress, and I managed to build it only replacing a few bricks with different colours. Unfortunately the minifigs were either gone or of an extremely poor quality and the dragon was also gone, so a review of the set from me, would be lacking. My first castle set was this one, I think:
  8. Wow - what an excellent review. I am amazed at how much information you can squeeze out of such a small set. I guess if I tried that, my review of the Skull's Eye Schooner would be two pages long. Excellent review and as mentioned by somebody else, I think I'm going to read some of your other reviews now.
  9. I like your new CC - but I feel that it is a bit too blue in the cabin section, and maybe even the blue railing is a little too blue. But the actual design is really great. I've always loved the CC and I still have mine perfect condition from when I was i kid. It was one of my largest sets, and I re-built it countless times. I, like you, always thought that the cabin was a bit lacking. EDIT: Oh, btw: you should add the last small sail just above the cabin and steering wheel, just like on the Skull's Eye Schooner. That would definitely spice it up considerably.
  10. Wow - those are great pictures SlyOwl - it really makes me wanna take some new pictures of my SES - at the time of my review there were a few bricks missing to make my SES 100% complete, but now it is complete. This should definitely make for some better pictures to put into my review.
  11. Wow - SlyOwl You've done it again. I must say, I am very impressed. You keep coming up with new ideas that I've never seen before. I love the dock made of large wooden doors. I've had a couple of those doors lying around, and didn't know what to do with them, but after seing your MOC I know what to do. You inspire me very much with all your excellent ideas, and your incredible building skills
  12. They are extremely expensive - but try Bricklink - they are there most of the time. There's an individual section for boxes for sale :) Check out my review of the SES - there are some amazing pictures of the box in original condition with everything intact. Incredible box for sure.
  13. I couldn't agree more The Otters, you are a truly deserved winner. You've been in every corner of critiquing for this whole contest. Excellent

  17. Thanks to the staff for making this excellent contest. Congratulations to Jansued and JKool - I really loved your MOCs The creative critic part of the contest has helped me a lot with tweaking my own entry. This was my first real MOC and there were so many great advices that I hadn't thought of myself, so thanks to those who helped me make my entry better, and thanks to those who cast their votes on my entry. Merry christmas
  18. Now that the voting has begun, I really want to say many many thanks to all those who helped me re-design all those changes and small details into my MOC. As I've said before "Creative Critic" is the best idea for a contest I've ever come across - it does so many good things for a contest like this. There are so many excellent entries this year, and especially in the SMALL category - and many of those entries owe thanks to all the people giving critique. I've learnt a lot about MOCing - this entry was my first attempt at a MOC and the cretive critiquing has definitely given me the balls to try out again next year, and also the passion to build MOC just for the heck of it. I've already built a few things for my daughter to enjoy Good luck to everybody in the contest

Wow - I really like this style of bignette - excellent job
  20. Yes, this truly amazing. I love to browse through your pictures for details. There are so many amazing entries this year, it's gonna be very hard to decide on a favourite, especially in the large category. There's so much talent, and it's really nice to see that you've outdone yourself (that's what I guess you've done, by making your biggest MOC yet) Congratulations on making such a wonderfull MOC
  21. That is great news for Pirate fans especially
  22. Wow - that is just amazing- Incredible build, and incredible idea. I must say, that these last few days of the competition have been very exciting for us all. Good luck in the competition, you stand a great chance IMO edit: I totally forgot to congratulate you on your storyline for this entry - It's really great, and along with your building techniques and many details, this is probably my favourite entry this year
  23. Thanks for looking at my very first MOC Grimmy - welcome to Eurobricks - enjoy your stay. I really like to browse through all the indexes in here. And people are really nice, too It's a great place
  24. Wow... I'm glad I didn't spend time and money building a "Large" entry - that would have been a complete waste
