28 year old - returned from the dark ages
Lorentzen replied to Lorentzen's topic in Hello! My name is...
Yeah the Danish language has a lot of the same words as English - when the Vikings came to plunder and kill in Britain they took along with them a lot of words which the English people now have embrased as their own like "Æg" - egg and "Kirke" - Church -
I voted bluecoats - I don't even have any redcoats I think, and the Armada guys are really not my type - I'm so psyched that LEGO has returned to the best kind of Pirate/Soldier/Imperial-style instead of all that Islander and Armada stuff

Oh how I wanted this when I was a child - the yellow wall made the difference - for me, that piece is almost mythical Thanks for doing the review - great pictures

Buy 2009 LEGO Pirates from S@H or Toys R Us
Lorentzen replied to General Armendariz's topic in LEGO Pirates
Any word on when these will be available in Europe/Denmark? I can't believe that of all countries, Denmark has to wait for this?!? -
Ahh - ok, then I completely misunderstood the academy's purpose. It's for those who want help. That's a great idea :)
-
Yes - I'd like to know what that reviewing academy is? I'm currently photoshoping some pictures that I've taken of a small Creator 3-in-1 box and the 3 cars/trucks - but if I'm not even "allowed" to post a pictorial review in the Creator section then I'd stop photoshopping

You're right. Those hulls are the biggest problem - but I can always look for those on ebay too. As for sails, I can easily make my own, but it would be nice to have the original ones, but that will come in time. I'm not in a rush
-
I can't use the search function for some reason - I don't know why But I've browsed the review thread, and there's no Pictorial Review of the Skull's Eye Schooner - Is that correct? I'd like to make the review if you guys can wait a few weeks? I just bought the ship on ebay, so now I'm waiting for the postman to arrive sometime before christmas - the seller stated that it was in beautiful condition, so let's wait and see My own christmas gift to myself this year - maybe my daughter can play a little bit with it when I'm done EDIT: I've built the Skull and here's a comparison shot between my beloved Carribbean Clipper and the mighty Skull's Eye Schooner
-
I just bought a pristine 100 % complete Skull's Eye Schooner from UK ebay for 56 pounds - I think that's a pretty fair price
-
^^ Nice comparison - I love how Lego still reinvent themselves all the time - I was 9 years old in 1989 so I must say I love the original pirate Lego the most, but this new Pirate Lego has impressed me very much. I was pretty disappointed when they made some of the Pirate stuff from around 1996 or so, but this new Pirate theme has gotten me all psyched up
-
ahh - twas my first set too then later I got most of the 1989 collection and a few 1991 sets during my childhood years, before my dark age came. I still need the Barracuda and the Eldorado Fortress to "complete" the 1989 sets
-
How can you get this kind of job? What's the education that I'll need to get this job?
-
The Black Seas Barracuda has always been my biggest want ever since Lego started their Pirates Theme... even though I'm 28 years old, I still want this ship very badly. Everything about this ship is perfect - the colour scheme and details. But I'm really impressed with the new Pirate ship from the 2009 collection - it really looks beautiful and well designed

Thanks for all your replys. I had been thinking that it would be too expensive because of the shipping fees from the many different sellers. But if I really wanted to spend a lot of time browsing Bricklink, I could probably buy most of the stuff from a few sellers in Europe which would make the final shipping fee a bit lower - I really hate that it's so expensive to buy Lego on eBay because most of the interesting stuff is located in the US or UK - and if the price isn't listed it's mostly because the seller wont ship outside US/UK :( thanks again - I'll keep an eye out for the thread with the many auctions on ships
-
Hi guys - I was wondering if it would be worth the time and money to put together the complete Black Seas Barracuda with orders solely from Bricklink? If I took a look at the Inventory List from peeron.com and then ordered the cheapest bricks, bits and pieces from all the different sellers on Bricklink, do you think that the total would be smaller than if I bought the Black Seas Barracuda on ebay at a reasonable price? And what's the average price for the Barracuda on ebay.co.uk or ebay.com? Thanks

Thanks - I looked around on bricklink but I'm not too sure about buying from the seller there, because I don't know the actual quality of the bricks - what should I look out for when buying via bricklink? -
Hi there, I'm Kristian from Denmark - I just recently discovered this magnificent place. The reason I have not found this earlier is simply because I've been far away from the Lego world for more than 14 years - but now I'm back I am now 28 years old, and my very young daughter (2½ years old) has already gone from playing with Duplo to playing with regular Lego bricks - this made me happy as a little boy on christmas morning, because that meant I had a valid reason to pull down all my Lego from the addic I've of course always played a lot with my daughter whenever she played with Duplo, and now Lego because I love it so much, especially more than if she plays with her dolls... she has perhaps been encouraged to play more with bricks because I've shown more interest in this My favourite Lego themes are Pirates (That's what I have most of) and City - but I have lost so many bricks and bits and pieces over the years, so there's not much to build from instructions. But I've managed to take better care of my Pirates stuff for some reason. I don't have all of the stuff from 1989 and 1991, but I do have a lot of it though. Sadly, I never got the Black Seas Barracuda or the Soldier's Fort, so I'm searching for those on ebay at bargain prices. This is pratically impossible because it's christmas soon, and also because I live in Denmark, so shipping fees are way too high for my taste, and if they're not too high, the seller simply won't send the Lego to Denmark :( - and that really bums me out because Denmark is where Lego was invented. Oh, by the way, I love to look at all the fantastic MOCs that people have made, but I'm not a bigger MOC'er myself, because I lack both the time and the bricks to make anything worth showing to other people. Well, that was a little bit about me - take care Kristian

Sorting, Storing, Playing. Kids and Lego
Lorentzen replied to ColdBricks's topic in General LEGO Discussion
This is really a tough one - I love how my 2½ year old daughter just recently began to play with Lego instead of Duplo, but because she's still very young, I've sorted all the regular bricks from everything else, which means she can build walls, houses and basic cars, but all of my sets are hidden away because I know that there will be lots of important pieces that will disappear in time if she starts to play with that now. Your son is a lot older than my daughter, so you have to face the fact that he loves to play with more complex Lego sets and bricks, and when he does, he maybe forgets to think about keeping track of all the smaller pieces. I think you should just encourage him to keep building the sets, but at the same time, show him that the blue bricks belong in this box, the flat plates belong in this other box, and the minifigs should be put into this box after playing with them. Maybe you should be the one "helping" him clean up every night before he goes to bed, becuase then you can help him make sure all the bricks are in their correct boxes. You should use small ice cream buckets with lids, as one has suggested, or maybe buy a few of those IKEA boxes than can roll under the beds - they have wheels underneath them, and they have enough space inside to put all the ice cream buckets Kristian
