One of them is really old - the other one is quite new... One a more seroius note: I think it's perfectly fine that LEGO has made a new and much more up-to-date set. Many kids today don't know that you can buy old sets online, so they'd miss out on a set with a postman in his car, if it was not because of LEGO making a new set based on the same idea. That goes for a LOT of LEGO sets nowadays.

Vintage Minifig V3 contains a BLUECOAT!

I'm in! Amazing prize - good good job on that (and the entire competition)

Wow - amazing. I want to win the "small entry" the most - That prize pool is incredible! How you guys find the extra money in your budget to buy these things, and just give them away, is beyond me

*drools* I would never have a chance of winning it, but oh man I would love to own this ship...
-
If you owned every 2009 set and could have one more...?
Lorentzen replied to PittSOB's topic in LEGO Pirates
Either BB or the Soldier's Fort I think I'd go for the Soldier's Fort even though you get less bricks compared to price. I have a few of the other ships from the classic line, so I wouldn't need another BB to MOD my first BB (if I had had one) - but a Soldier's Fort would benefit greatly from an extra copy, so I could MOD them both into something even larger -
Holy crap that is an amazing line-up You are very talented

I really like this ship. It looks really great, and you've added a lot of great ideas. One of the best I've seen, especially because you haven't tried to over-design the ship. The thing that I can't stop looking at though, are the four brown plastic riggings. They looked like they are almost cramped in there. They are rounded almost. Perhaps you should raise the masts a tiny bit, so the boat riggings will straighten out?

Wow - I just checked classic-town.net, and this review made the frontpage :) thanks guys, that's pretty cool

I have to enter this time. Although I've never made a MOC in my adult life, it would definitely be fun to try now - I have enough Pirate LEGO but I don't think I have enough bricks in general

Thanks for this excellent review :) I want this set very badly, because it reminds me a lot of "Back to the Future" which I was countless times when I was a kid.
-
I have this one - cute little car :) It would be nice to see a completely orange car

Wow - this Fire Brigade looks so great next to the other Exclusive sets. I wish that my budget allowed me to buy these kinds of sets. It's really what I've wished for in LEGO sets my whole life Great review - thanks

Oh no. That's really bad news. I had hoped for a similar run just like 1989 (pause in 1990) and then new sets each year for 5 more years. Although I'd think that this time around it would be new line in 2009 (pause in 2010) then new sets in 2011-12-13 perhaps. I hope they just put the whole thing on hold. I would realy have loved a ship for the soldiers. It could have been an epic set

Yeah - it really does have a Paradisa feel to it. Even though I was a boy, I often found myself checking out the LEGO catalogs for those nice Paradisa sets. The seemed so nice and sort of "90210" - I loved them. They are a great addition to a summer setting in a LEGO city. If people want to re-build this set, I noticed that the large windows can be found on bricklink for around $2.50 a piece, in a good condition and with the stickers too. I think that's a pretty fair price. edit: I linked to a picture of the classic box and put it in my first post of this thread

Yeah - I remember getting this, and thinking "wow - what a big set" btw - I forgot to take some pictures of the cafe guests on the top floor through the windows. I guess I'll do that tomorrow

Great review! I always wanted this set when I was younger. Thanks for a great review and some really great pictures. It's nice to see the set "up close and personal"

INDEXED 6376 - Breezeway Cafe Year – 1990 Theme - Town Pieces – 171 Minifigs – 5 plus 1 parrot Price (according to peeron) $23.00 Overview: The box: (Picture taken from bricklink) This set is a great addition to any Lego City out there. The large curved windows and the green front yard along with the many light bulbs and different plants creates all together a cafe that is almost timeless in appearance. There are a few things in the design that give away the fact that this set was released way back in 1990, but nothing really stands out as being out of style in comparison to today's sleeker LEGO sets. The manual: You can see already on the first page, that this is should be easy as a breeze to build :) You get lots of help throughout your building process. Random page: Interesting pieces: This is a long cafe, so naturally, you get a number of quite long bricks. The design is quite "open" so there are a lot of 1x1x5 bricks, and a few arches This cafe has room for six paying customers, so you get 6 yellow chairs, some red fences that make sure no minifigs can fall from the top floor, and you also get some wineglasses This set has numerous plants, and they all contribute to a timeless design The reason this set wins my design award: Curved windows with stickers - I love it. The curved large window: The cafe has a grill/kitchen and a bar. Grill: Neat simple design - My guess is that the red 1x1 tile is a steak. Bar: Here you can have both mustard, ketchup and... wine, altogether The minifigs: You get five minifigs with this set. That's actually pretty great, compared to the size of the set in itself. The staff: Chef: (picture taken from brickset.com) Waiter: The guests: (picture taken from brickset.com) I'll now show you the Breezeway Cafe from different angles. I love how beautiful this cafe is, I love all the lightbulbs, and the green plants that twist and twirl up against the windows, panels and walls all over. It's really beautiful if you ask me. The entrance: It's a really open design, so you can move around all the minifigs as you please. Take a closer look inside: This is probably my favourite part of the cafe: The light bulbs and the plants growing on the arch: It must be a cosy place to sit and have a glass of wine The verdict: Design: 10/10 - Timeless design. Great use of plants and space. Playability: 8/10 - There are not a lot of cool features in this set, but it is a cafe, so naturally your imagination can help you along. 5 minifigs is a definite plus too. Build: 7/10 - It's easy and the result is stunning, but there's nothing out of the extraordinary, building wise. Parts: 9/10 - The long bricks, the baseplate and all the windows, the plants, the chairs, fences and the many "poles" (1x1x5 bricks) are all extremely great parts in any LEGO collection Price: 8/10 - I feel that $23.00 must have been a pretty fair price back then. A 16x32 baseplate, 5 minifigs and a great design makes this worth the money

Thanks for adding a poll - I wanted to, but forgot

Wow - that's a great MOC. I love all the details, and the way the light "presents" the room to us, is so great. It really makes this perfect

INDEXED 6353 Coastal Cutter Name: Coastal Cutter Theme: Town/Nautica Year: 1991 Pieces: 175 Minifigs: 2 Price: USD$19.00 Box (picture taken from peeron.com) THE REVIEW: This is my first set review outside the LEGO Pirate world. My other reviews have all been of classic Pirate sets. Lagoon Lock-Up Rock Island Refuge Skull's Eye Schooner This Coastal Cutter was one of my last sets before I entered my dark age. As a result, it is in quite good condition which should make for some nice pictures of the set and its functions. THE MANUAL: The front of the manual has a marine-like design with the yellow rope acting as picture frames. It is simple yet effective. Random page As you can see, the manual is quite easy to follow, with seperate building steps, as seen on this page. THE INTERESTING PIECES: I like stickers, and have never understood the whole DSS problem :) - I, for one, love to place the stickers as accurate as possible, so this set was perfect for satisfying my needs to place stickers on numerous bricks. The windows on this cutter are pretty cool, and have a great blue colour to them. I like those more than the non-coloured transparent windows in other sets. I like the design of the small motor for the motor boat. THE MINIFIGS: You get two police officers with this set. One for each of the boats. Both of them have a life jacket, while one has a white police hat, and the other sails around with his hair blowing in the wind :) Take a look at their police uniform. It's not as detailed as the current police uniform, as you can see to the right. Also, the two minifigs in this set has the classic face. The newer police officer looks tougher. I guess he must have faced a lot more trouble in Legotown in his years of service, compared to his 1991 colleague. THE BOATS: Motor boat: Great little boat, with clever a design Cutter: I am in love with this design, and I think that the design makes this boat fit in with today's LEGO sets. It does not look like it's from 1991 at all. Front: Front, cockpit Side: Back: THE COCKPIT: Great design no doubt. Look at all the details in such a small space! The white tile with the print is really great, as is the black phone. THE CRANE: In order to pull the small motor boat on board the cutter, you'll need to use this wheel on the side of the cutter. It's situated just below the cockpit, and it is one of the greatest simple things I have ever seen in a LEGO set. When you turn the wheel, it pulls back a red crane with a hook. This hook will grab onto the device on the motor boat's front "hood". A few TECHNIC pieces and a rubber band are used in order to make this work. Almost there... Ahh - we're ready to sail back to our headquarters THE DESIGN: As mentioned earlier, the design is what I love most about this set. I really do feel that this set could be sold today, and no body would notice that it was designed back in 1991!!! The colour scheme is flawless all around. All colours work well together, and the windows, lights, alarms, etc etc all go great together, making this set one of LEGOs very best in this category of sets. These other boats from years close to 1991 are also pretty timeless in their design: 6483 from 1994 (although this actually looks a bit chunky) 6596 from 1995 6679 from 1991 VERDICT: Design: 10/10 - Flawless. The design is contemporary, the function of the crane is perfectly done, and the colours are great. Playability: 8/10 - Two minifigs (both police officers) are not "enough" - maybe a minifig in need of help, or a robber on the run instead of one of the police officers. The crane and the fact that there are two boats in one set, makes up for this. Parts/Build: 8/10 - There are some great parts in this set: the "wings" with stickers. The red crane, and the cool windows to name a few things. The building process is easy, yet interesting: You get to build two boats, and you're challenged a bit when you get to the part with assembling and making the crane work. Price: 10/10 - I think that a set like this, with two minifigs, two boats, a crane, 175 bricks and the sheer quality of the design/colour scheme makes this set worth every penny. This concludes my first non-Pirate review. I hope you enjoyed it :)

As long as I get to see some of the pics (it doesn't matter from which) I'd be grateful I'm just curious to see some pics :) and if the scans are from the Danish book, I can check out the Danish names of the figures, places, ships and stuff :)

I really like your clean style. I also like it when people add a lot of details onto their castles, but to see this castle was a great change I'd love to see more of this edit: I really love all those stairs inside the castle. And the walls. Wow
-
Would you mind scanning them/some of the pages - or do you know of a place on the internet where we can see them all, and what's inside them? thanks

Great review :) very structured indeed. I counted 77 or 78 pieces in your picture I love this set. I love almost all the Classic Town sets actually, but I guess it's due to nostagia ;) thanks for your detailed review
