(image by Hjmediastudios) Let the second round start! To make things clear: we decided not to allow digitally created comics for the second round. Editing with computer software is no problem of course. Another thing is the theme. In the last round we had some discussion whether or not it needed to contain an islander minifigure. In the second round, you don't need to use a Pirate minifigure (although it is preferred), but Pirates do need to play a clear role in the comic. An extra ration of rum for all of you! Good luck in the next round!

Tournament of Retribution III Headquarters!
Admiral Croissant replied to Captain Blackmoor's topic in Pirate MOCs
I'd like to do so, but that would give problems because people find it unfair that hjmediastudios entry got accepted. However, if everyone agrees I would be glad to abolish it. Of course this only concerns the bluecoats because the 5 best bluecoats (and the 5 best redcoats) will go to the 3rd round. -

Thanks for pointing that out Morthen. It was indeed february. Notice that a CGI comic is allowed for bluecoats this round, even though I'd rather see real LEGO. -

I'm not going to make a rule of that if that's what you suggest, but of course if people want to do that they're free to do so But in most cases the sigfigs are very recognizable, and their names are often included within the comic so then it wouldn't be neccesary. -
True, but we can't expect our members to have skills to work with software like that, but we do expect them to have a bit of LEGO. It's a LEGO contest after all, and we don't want to encourage drawn/CGI comics. I think the CGI-look of your comic would increase the number of votes you get, whilst on a LEGO-forum, in theory, the people with LEGO should have a small advantage in tournaments compared to people without LEGO. I hope you get my point. Still, we also hand out prizes for active spectators, most cruel comics and such, so your BrickFilms can still be rewarding

If you only want to resize your pictures you don't have to consult one of us. You're always free to do that.

True, but this comic is just one of two comics he has to make to get access to the 3rd round, together with 4 more Bluecoats and 5 Redcoats. Next time he has to make comics with real LEGO so in the final round, when it's really RvB, things will be fair.

Let's not make too much of a fuss about it. Moschino is right that there actually should be LEGO involved. Outside of that you followed all the rules and made a good comic out of it. However, being the only one with CGI, this could influence the voting (but because the first 2 rounds are not about prizes I don't think that'll be such a big problem). Because you clearly put a lot of effort into it, I'll let it pass this time, but in the next round please make it with real LEGO for the sake of the Tournament's fairness. Moschino, if you find this unfair, you (or anyone else) could make one comic with CGI in the next round. Still, I loved the Brickfilm! I keep watching it over and over again. Very clever Please post more of those!

That's exactly why I can't pass it. The tournament is for fun but there's also a big prize pool involved and I would find it a bit unfair if somebody wins because he doesn't keep to the rules.Perhaps I should have deleted the word "Guidelines" though. That's a failure on my account which I copy-pasted from the previous ToR. Perhaps we could have another small round after the official ToR just for fun and without rules or prizes.

Those are good points. I think it's better to not allow this. Nevertheless it's a great piece of work Unfortunately it's just not suitable for the contest and fair to other members. However, I think it's okay for you to take one or two days more to change the film into a comic and participate, if you want.

This is hilarious It's clearly the best I've seen so far! I know how much time it takes to make a brickfilm, an based on that I'd like to allow this, but I think we will get trouble then. We don't allow a 20 panel comic either. So if nobody complains I can allow it, but if there's even one complaint then I guess it will be difficult.

ToR III Entry Round 1 - Hot Spring Trip
Admiral Croissant replied to the Inventor's topic in Pirate MOCs
Great! And funny to see that even the islanders are collecting redcoat heads! I don't think we've seen this many sigfigs/victims in one comic so far -
TOR III Entry: Death at first sight
Admiral Croissant replied to Purpearljellyblob's topic in Pirate MOCs
Nice one. There's even a small skull on the bottle in the last image, so good work on all the details too. But one victim doesn't quite make you conqueror of the entire bluecoat army -
Nice one! The lighting turned out great indeed. Also quite clever how you add digital decals in all of your comics. Perhaps we're just not used to water anymore because we only drink rum.

ToR III Official Entry I - The "living" truth.
Admiral Croissant replied to Antonio's topic in Pirate MOCs
Excellent comic! The layout looks good and I like the empty head joke for example. A bit confusing though that the islander orders a red chicken, you're shouting "duck" to the cook and he gets a redcoat (so he gets a pig) -
ToR III Official Entry I — Metamorphosis
Admiral Croissant replied to Frank Brick Wright's topic in Pirate MOCs
It wasn't easy? He changed it rather quickly: In his case, I wouldn't even have made a big point of it if he had only added the name islanders in his comic, but I preferred an islander minifigure (which would also increase the quality of his comic) and he could change it quite easily. The main purpose of this tournament is to have fun, and I hope we won't get too much talking about rules. I hope to see many islanders as I think this will be funny and it could add a nice new element to the Tournament. But if it's really hard for you to make an islander minifigure, then a solution like this is also possible. -
ToR III Official Entry I — Metamorphosis
Admiral Croissant replied to Frank Brick Wright's topic in Pirate MOCs
I had to think about this entry for quite some time, and I guess your entry should be accepted. Of course we meant islanders from the classic islanders theme, but the rules didn't state this very clearly. I hope members won't fill every gap in the rules this way (I thought it would be funny to see classic islanders and pirates in the entries, and I hope we will), but in this case your entry will be allowed. Anyway, it's a very nice entry. I like the parts were the "flagship" is being shown and where the hat blows away -
Great entry! Smart to let an islander tell the jokes. You also gave a good view of the average redcoat ship. However, MstrOfPppts is right, there are too many panels. Please reduce the number to 10. I'm sorry but we do have a few rules to give our members an even chance as much as possible.

TOR III Entry: Escape from home island
Admiral Croissant replied to MstrOfPppts's topic in Pirate MOCs
Great comic! Clear pictures and good work on the photo-editing. The lights on the campfire is also well done, and I had to laugh about the wolve sounds Good thing that our plan worked and we peacefully got rid of those islanders- 16 replies

Great entry One of the best I've seen so far, even though it's from a redcoat. But your cannonball in the first picture.. I don't see any effect. Was it made out of rubber like most of them? I guess there's no other way for me than to order your minifig head and take revenge
