  1. Noo! I'm not saying the've been pointed into the wrong direction I knew that the hooks on the image I posted were meant for damaging sails, but I also had this image: These hooks are quite small and in the opposite direction, so I was wondering if they were meant for the same purpose, or if they were just boarding hooks tied to the yards. But it seems like you don't know that either. Still, they would be a nice detail for your galleon so please keep them EDIT: A quick google search learned that they are called "sheerhooks", "grippling hooks" or "bill-hooks" but they were not thrown at an enemy ship.
  2. Beautiful! It's quite remarkable how similar to the Nuestra Señora this is in some ways, but with many excellent unique features. The stern view looks very realistic. I like the fact that it only has 1 small window and the frog details are nice as well. I also noticed the hooks at the end of the yards. I found those before and I wondered how effective they would have been. On another image (of an English galleon?) they are much larger and pointed in the opposite direction: So I wondered if perhaps your hooks are just for boarding an enemy ship, but I hope you can give a clear answer to that. Anyway, great job!

  4. Hello joeyrw, welcome to Eurobricks! It's always good to have new members You might want to introduce yourself like Legonardo said, and please read our member guidelines. We're not very fond of caps lock sentences, and large numbers of question/exclamation marks. Also, you've already had quite a lot of help, so it would be nice to pay gratitude or at least reply on those I hope you'll find your way here on these forums, and if you do, you can enjoy all the great topics around here!
  5. Seems like I should have rethought it before I wrote the comment. It caused quite a lot of correcting comments I know that a ship should be crowded and of course I've seen the hammocks in M&C as well. When I looked at the third picture it just seemed like a rather small and cramped ship. But I think I have to adjust my comment a bit, because it actually looks quite realistic on the first image. The real Recouvrance could also look more spacious due to the fact that there are no cannons on the deck. Then again, it's not exactly minifig-scale like you said. But it looks quite allright. Have you considered adding deadeyes to the shrouds?
  6. I've never seen this done before in LEGO, but it looks genious! It would be nice to see more of these. Perhaps you could only show the MOC picture next time so we can invert it ourselves and see the result. Once inverted the MOC gets some kind of shady and foggy effect which (I think) can't be achieved in a "normal" MOC. That's very nice. Funny though that the skeleton becomes black
  7. Such a beautiful ship! It looks extremely realistic with this technique and rigging. It's quite visible that you based it on real plans. The measurements seem perfect. The ship does seem a little bit crowded though, because it isn't exactly minifig scale. On the other hand that's the only way to use those lovely decals The colourscheme and cannons are also very nice. Good job! Can't wait to see it with sails! [bloggedcp][/bloggedcp] (I'll index this once the sails are on)
  8. Translating the whole story would be quite a lot of work. First there's something about the build (started in may 2009, finished october 2010) and where the bricks came from. Secondly there's something about the design, and on which real ships I based the Vesta. Then there's only a description about all the stuff you can see happening on the deck and in the masts. And finally "search the monkey" This was the only part that wasn't written by myself, but I guess it's nice for children She could look slightly better. I changed the headrails.First they were made of yellow 1x2 plates, now I used hoses. And for this display I also took in all the main sails. Outside of that there are no significant changes. Thanks for the comments! The topic has over a hundred now
  9. Good that you've resized the pictures Now this ship looks very good! I like the working rudder. Although the stern might need some more experimenting, it's quite nice already. I like how you've incorporated minifig torso's there. Never seen that before. I think this is a rather good middle between a realistic and a playable MOC. Are you also going to add more sails? You could perhaps try to make your own sails, we have quite a lot of tutorials in the index. However, I do think you could add some more variety in the length of the different yards first. Good luck on future projects/experiments!
  10. Good that you came up with this question! I thought I'd already posted some pictures, but now I find out I haven't. The Vesta has been reconstructed and it's back in the museum for a few months now. I've visited the ship once now (in mid-july) and I'm very pleased with the result. My ship is currently on display on the main floor in the restaurant. It has a showcase over it and there's a small story about the ship. So here are some pictures! A high-res. picture can be found here. Thanks for watching!
  11. That's certainly an important picture for this topic! However, it's too large. Could you please risize it? Our max. allowed is 800X600 pixles
  12. Good that you want to give it a try! I hope you don't face too many problems, but if you do, don't hesitate to ask questions. Good luck! I'm looking forward to the result

  15. This could well be the best LEGO carronade I've seen so far It looks extremely detailed and realistic. Clever work with hoses too. Do you think it would be easy to copy this design to a full ship? In that case it's even more perfect. When I take this image as an example I can't notice any significant differences: Well done! Any further plans with this? [bloggedcp][/bloggedcp]
  16. Thanks! I've added the indiaman as well.
  17. Good idea to start this topic I'll take care of these. The indexed image was added to the Technic topic, and I already save the images of the other MOCs. EDIT: ...and it's done
  18. Happy Birthday!! I hope you'll have a great day!
  19. Woest ek nog nei LegoWorld? Of wurdt dat lestich ifm stage of sa?

  20. The biggest part of this ship looks excellent The stern and the bow could use some work though (IMO). I think you could try to make the side galleries less edgy, more round and smooth. And the figurehead seems quite low. It should end at the same level as the top of the rail. Good luck!
  21. Nice MOC! Even though you used large wall pieces, it doesn't look easy or boring. I also haven't seen that many soldiers with golden spanish helmets in one MOC before. Good job on the photography as well!
  22. That's 5 points for the dodo's already. I guess they're on the list now! Thanks for your support!

  24. What I'd love to see is a LEGO dodo! In the movie "The Pirates! Band of misfits" (2012), the dodo is the main character. Dodo's are very typical creatures and would be a nice addition to many MOCs. In museums or science labs they would suit as well. And it would be quite unique, I've never seen a dodo in a toy set.
