  1. I'm sorry to say this but Eurobricks is not just a website for advertisements. We do allow long term members to sell their LEGO occasionaly, but this should be done in the Buy/Sell/Trade forum once you've reached at least 100 posts. And be sure to read the rules of that sub-forum first. I'll close this topic, but feel free to place an advertisement in the correct forum once you've reached a post count of 100.
  2. Moyalmas, I'm sorry, I totally forgot we did have a thread for these kind of posts. Mister Phes brought this to my attention so I merged it with your topic. So although we rather not have seperate topics for this, the discussion about newly aqcuired sets is permitted here. Again, I'm sorry for the harsh treatment. Even moderators make mistakes sometimes
  3. Those are really nice sets indeed However, please refrain from posting your sets in the future. You're a new member so I won't make a big problem of this, but our forums are meant for MOCs or set discussions, not just for posting pictures of sets (unless you're making a review). Therefore I'll close this topic. But don't be discouraged to post on these forums. MOCs and fruitful discussions are always very welcome!
  4. Looking for a name for your ship, as a finishing touch, can be enjoyable. At least I enjoyed it when I thought of one for my frigate. My ship was called l'Unité at first, then l'Aigle (what a coincidence ) and finally Vesta. I chose Vesta because it wouldn't have been a very unlikely name. Roman gods were often a source of inspiration. And on the other hand, there wasn't a frigate called Vesta at the time, so I didn't have to model it after a real ship. So I had a look at the awesome page Kolonialbeamter linked here, and I thought Persévérante might be a good name. Only in 1847 there was one French ship called that way, but not in the 18th century. It sure has a strong feeling. At least this can be a good method to look for a name.
  5. We were discussing possible new Pirate sets for 2014 in the 2013 thread, so let's continue here.
  6. Sounds like good candidates! They've both been added to the crew and will soon be trained to Blog Editor. Congratulations, and thanks for volunteering!
  7. Truely a beautiful ship! And what a clever way to increase the width of the hull at the lowest deck I also like the view in which you can see all the decks, and the stern decorations are very nice as well. On the other hand, I think prefabs are way too narrow for a first rate ship, so I can't wait to see your skills being used on a brickbuilt hull. But on a frigate even with prefab hulls it would look splendid. All in all this is very promising, good luck on other MOCs! EDIT: And of course: Welcome to Eurobricks!
  8. Let's compare it with the previous version: Some great improvements! Although the look of the folded sails is a bit too tube-like for my taste, I like the custom sails. The deck details have also improved and I really like the look of the white cabin doors. The black cones in the railings are nice as well. All in all there's enough difference between this ship and your previous one to get a seperate Index image Can't wait to see bigger-scale ships!
  9. Thanks, they've both been indexed now.
  10. Hi Captain Golden Hook, Welcome to Eurobricks. There is no Tournament of Retribution going on at the moment, so please post any Redcoats vs Bluecoats stuff in this thread. Next to that, we do expect a slightly higher standard on the quality of MOCs we see here. Nevertheless, you're a new member, so It's not a big issue. Just keep those things in mind
  11. Looking good! Keep it up! On the image it has six beams on the side. I don't know if they always had six, but it looks nice anyway.
  12. Congratulations to our new Shipyard Masters! With two excellent candidates we decided to promote no less than two crew members to Shipyard Master. Darkdragon and Capt. Stabbin both have a good amount of experience and will help with the blog, the Index, new recruits and more things. They surely deserve an extra ration of rum! (This means we can use some new bloggers in the near future so keep your eye on the horizon.)
  13. Perhaps you'd get more comments if there were some really new things added instead of copying stuff to the other side (except for the beam at the back of course). No offense, I don't mean to criticize your build as it's very nice. I really like the colourscheme and shape. Are you also going to give it those six large beams you can see on the sides on your image? I don't know if I've seen that before on a ship with CGH's technique being used but it might look nice. It's quite a characteristic feature I believe. Good luck!
  14. Seems the chest is even more worthless than the jar of dirt Anyway, nice MOC. And because it's a MOC, I've moved it to the Pirate MOCs forum.
  15. Seems like you had a great time there It's an impressive layout and enabled you to make some great photographs. I'd love to join your fleet some day in a future event! Thanks for sharing these pictures.
  16. Who do you mean by "you guys"? Do you mean all of the Eurobricks members that ever posted a ship MOC in the Pirates forum? In that case, you're referring to more than 150 different ship MOCs, so that means many different ways of making a mast. The mast you're showing could have been used by some of them. Again, if you're looking for inspiration please check the index.
  17. The advice I'd like to give you is to stick to one model ship as your example, or at least one type of ship from one time period. Otherwise you might end up mixing the wrong characteristics. And then just try to make it as closely as possible in LEGO. You can also find many great examples in our Ship MOC Index, and in our Historical Ships Index. Good luck! (And could you please start each sentence with a capitalized character? Looks better )
  18. Hi legoben, have you read our rules and guidelines? If not, please do so. Please don't use too many emoticons and please also don't make too many short comments. Thank you :)

  19. This could indeed well be the finest LEGO galleon I've ever seen on this forum! The amount of detail and accuracy is mindblowing! And the rigging and sails are just like you would see them on a wooden model. Do I also spot Sir Francis Drake himself on that one picture? By the way, you've also earned yourself a place on the Eurobricks Frontpage
  20. With the help of a true wooden ship model builder, Eurobricks member maydayartist has made this beautiful recreation of a galleon on which Sir Francis Drake fought against the Spanish Armada, thereby bringing LEGO ship building to the next level! Have a look and see the crazy amount of detail for yourself in the Pirate MOCs Forum.
  21. Hi piratekingrd, although I like your enthousiasm, please don't bump too many old topics. Especially when on top of the thread, there's a large red title saying it's not meant for discussion. Thank you :)

  22. Outstanding!! I think you really found a perfect way of making LEGO sailing ships! Everything looks very smooth and I like the way you gave each frigate a distinct look despite using the same technique. So what are your plans with this fleet? Put them on display? Bring them to a museum? Use them for Brick comics?
  23. I've moved this to the discussion forum.
  24. You're rewarded with a new tag: the Ship MOC expert tag. Wear it with pride It will be given to those who build amazing ship MOCs and bring LEGO ship building to the next level. For those who prefer to build non-ship pirate MOCs there will of course still be the regular MOC expert tag.
  25. Beautiful! Can't believe you used no glue for the rigging. It looks very neat! Looks like an exceptionally accurate model with an impressive number of bricks. Are all sails 'modular'? Or just the 3 on the picture? I think this is a very useful ship if you want to explain life at sea, or perhaps to make a comic. Is there also an interesting story about the figurehead? Why you chose it or what it represents? By the way, your ship is currently on the Eurobricks Frontpage also
