  1. After more than two and a half years, Eurobricks member Dread Pirate Wesley has finally finished his mammoth ship! About 4000 bricks, and tons of research went into the vessel. Head over to the Pirate MOCs forum and stand amazed!
  2. Very nice I especially like the colourscheme and the stern details. IMO, there are a few things which could improve this ship. First of all, I think the headrails/figurehead part is a bit too large. Secondly, I would remove the lowest yard of the foremast as it doesn't belong there. Finally, it might look nice if the stern was a bit sloped/overhanging. But that's just a minor issue. Nevertheless, she's coming along very nicely. Promising!
  3. The torso library has been updated. New decals are always welcome of course
  4. ...or perhaps you could first finish your ship, and then finish this series (maybe with the new ship appearing in it)? There's no hurry. Give it some more suspense. This excellent series needs a proper ending
  5. Another great MOC! Nice addition for the index. It's a rather simple design indeed, but it's still a challenge to make it look real good. I love the use of the modified tiles with studs here and it's also nice that you gave this "simple" looking ship some more detail below the waterline. By the way, do you know the wreck of USS Cairo? This ironclad has been salvaged and is now a museum ship in a remarkable good condition. Not exactly the same as the Monitor, but stil nice to have a look.
  6. I can see them now, thanks for fixing this. It's a beauty! The proportions seem a little bit odd (the sides are quite high for example), and it could look better with some more rigging and perhaps a few sails (like the ones she carried on the 200 years anniversary). Outside of that, I think this is one of the best LEGO USS Constitutions I've seen so far. I can see that you know the ship quite well as you did a great job on all the details, like the dark green railings, and the double gunport hatches. I agree this would look great on your shelf Well done!
  7. I can't see the pictures somehow. Yesterday Brickshelf said they weren't public yet. Now when I visit you Brickshelf I can only see the small thumbnail images and when I click them I don't see them anymore.. Could you try to fix that? Or maybe upload them on another site? The thumbnail images look very promising!
  8. I can see you have a good knowledge of how the rigging of such a ship should look like The rigging looks very realistic, and I think it will look even better on a bigger ship. Now it still looks a little bit 'overcrowded' with rope. Perhaps you could also try different rope colours. It may be less realistic, but the ship could look more appealing. The bolt ropes look great as well. And have you already tried folding the sails? If yes, do you have a picture? This IMTP contest is also a nice find. I didn't know of it's existence. Perhaps we could do more of those in the future..
  9. Great crew! I agree that a crew is an important aspect that makes a LEGO ship appealing. I think you did a great job composing this crew with such a good diversity. Perhaps you could add a scandinavian crewmember as well but I don't know if they were often aboard British ships. I also see that you've used some excellent literature. I definitely need to get one of those anatomy of the ship-books sometime. Thanks for sharing!
  10. Very nice! Pictures like this certainly have a place in this thread. When you're making a whole series I wouldn't even mind if you made a seperate topic for it. And of course you could still put a link in this thread. Isn't this the scene where they are talking about "the wonderful voice Mr Hollum possesses?" You forgot to give Aubrey his cup of coffee though. But never mind. I'm looking forward to the next one!
  11. Cool ship! Well-armed and well-built! Great colourscheme too. Personally I don't like the inacuraccy of the lowest yards on each mast much(they shouldn't be there), but it does make it look more like an official LEGO set. And that's something I do like a lot about the ship. It looks very neat and new like an official build. Nice job
  12. On any corvette I've seen, there were no guns placed at the stern below the captain's cabin. However, it would be possible to have guns placed inside the captain's cabin sticking out through the stern galleries. On the last picture here, you can even see gunport hatches at the stern. Here and here, you can see the lines of a corvette. As far as I know, most corvettes had open gundecks. On the drawings you can see another deck below the gundeck. On this deck you would have the officers cabins, medical bay and crew hammocks. As you can also see, the hold is yet another deck below the crew hammocks and such. I hope this answers all your questions properly. Of course you're totally free to post pictures of your project. As long as you don't promote your finished product here to sell it.
  13. RTN LNA has left this forum long time ago. Currently I'm doing the ship indexing. Nevertheless, thanks for pointing it out. I moved your ship to the four masted section.
  14. You're saying you've seen a lot of white gundecks; do you mean the deck planks, where the sailors are standing, could also be white? White as in tan, or really bright, painted white? I've never seen that on a ship from the age of sail. Do you have an example? I have seen white roofs on the gun deck, but as far as I know the deck planks themselves are always some kind of brown shade. So I don't think a white deck would be very realistic, but on a LEGO ship you can have a bit more artistic freedom of course :)
  15. Those shrouds are really beautiful! Both the colour, the rope-like look, the knots and also how the small horizontal ropes are going through the larger ones. The quality of the rigging seems to be just as high as on a professional model ship made of wood Perhaps it would also look nice in terms of proportions to make the lower yardarm of the spanker sail protrude a bit at the stern. But I guess that would be more personal taste because it's historically accurate either way. Can't wait to see the next stage of this ship!
  16. No, we only add completed MOCs to the index. So when you've finished your MOC, you can make a new topic for the finished product and we'll add it. And if we don't, you can always remind us here.
  17. No problem, some of those details like the ships bell were "stolen" by me as well Some credit would be nice of course, though not neccesary on such a small detail.
  18. It has a nice classic look and the writing is funny too Still, I only see a few very small changes compared to the previous ship. Looks like it could have been done in five minutes. Next time you give a ship such a "massive overhaul", please just add a post to the previous topic instead of making a new thread. Thanks in forward
  19. Ah never mind, there seems to be a website specially made for people who volunteer to make photographs on cemeteries close to where they live. I think I'm going to wait a while to see how that works out. They're doing it for free anyway, and there are a lot more volunteers. But thanks anyway!
  20. It's in Brooklyn, you can easily find it on Google Maps. Here's a map of the cemetery on which you can also see section 137.
  21. Good that you're saying it here. I didn't notice because the title still had WIP in it. Anyway, I'm glad to have this in the index. It's been added and the title has been edited
  22. The winners of Tournament of Retribution III have been announced! Among the prizes are Eldorado Fortress, Brickbeard's Bounty and more! Take a moment to congratulate these lucky few in the Pirate MOCs Forum.
  23. As I announced in the ToRIII Banners thread, the banners were actually only allowed during the tournament. I've given the most active defenders of either faction among you a tag as a sort of compromise, so please remove the banners again until the next tournament. This is among other reasons because we don't want too much RvB talking in regular LEGO discussions and because they fill quite a lot of space, which isn't very inviting to new members. So, please get rid of them...for now
  24. Jep. That's right, Sebeus I won, and he's a Bluecoat, so the Bluecoats did win! On the other hand, the Redcoats got most of the prizes...you lost in a brave way. Better luck next time
