Curious. I think it would be nice to get undecorated versions of some of these elements...but I'm not so sure if that is the case here. I can't get on to the PaB section of the site at the moment (nor any of the LEGO site in general) but I'd imagine the best indicator of the nature of the pieces in question would be by price - printed parts always seem to be expensive, especially those Breakout torsos - though I don't remember an unprinted one being for sale there before so I suppose it'd be hard to compare the prices. Either way there's something a bit odd going on with this pieces, I think. From what I've read, something doesn't add up.

Excellent work. The angles are great and I love thehunched position...and of course that head is marvellous. Very well done.

Here's an interesting video of the Lion Temple. I apologise if it's been posted here before but the video is verynew so I assume not.

Magnificent work. It's really beautiful. Very well done!

Was the set sealed? this seems very unusual, given that LEGO apparently weigh every set before they send them out - and that is to make sure a set contains the right amount of pieces so the scales must be very sensitive. It seems unlikely that a box that much heavier than it is supposed to be would slip through their checking process, and I'm also not sure how all of those pieces would fit inside the box properly. Still, if this really happened it's pretty awsome.

This is really good - I for one am glad you added the yellow, it makes it that much more like a real set (that and the construction is more appropriate for a set, rather than the flimsy techniques that are usually used in MOCS of these vehicles) Also: big thumbs up for the inclusion of a Bryan Ferry album!

Legends of Chima 2013 (Action Figures)
Rocketbilly replied to DarkSurgeXL's topic in LEGO Action Figures
Every time I've seen the Super Hero Ultrabuild sets they've been priced at either £10.97 or in some places, £11.97. It seems like these Chi figures are going to meet the same price point. I find it odd to note that all of the 2012 figures that came in bags were £1 less than their equivalent sized sets from the year before. This year the smaller sized sets are back up to the original pre- 2012 price of £7.99 which makes these Chi figures look like a better deal than the Ultrabuilds did when compared to the Hero Factory of that year...so I'm quite happy with the price point really. I really hope that these sets sell well enough for LEGO to produce further waves of them but don't sell so well that they out-perform Hero Factory and Lego begins to shift its Constraction focus towards these Chima figures instead of Hero Factory. I suppose with Hero Factory the designers can pretty much go wild but with Chima they're (presumably) only ever going to be restricted to anthropomorphic animals. I can't see them making too many vehicles for these larger Chima figures, for example... -
Thanks again! yeah, I noticed the "assortment A" and "Assortment B" thing. It works well for the Hero Factory theme. A little bit before Christmas my Tesco were selling the £6.97 sets from the second wave as a two for £10 deal, but not the £6.95 sets from the earlier wave (might have been the other way round) but the way the shelves were labelled it made it very difficult to tell which stock was what as each wave was also split into an A and a B selection and the stock was very mixed up. I had to use one of the price scanners but as it turned out none of the sets were elligibe. Very confusing. As for Galaxy Squad I've just found out that europe isn't due these sets until August - though I've got a feeling England won't see them at all.
-
Thanks! I always appreciate your Tesco updates, they really help me out. Is there any sign of Galaxy Squad sets being stocked? I'm hoping they'll stock more Hero Factory - my local Tesco put out two boxes of the medium sets of the latest wave, but I hope they get the rest!

Good idea. I'd probably do the same. I really want to see the raven set especially - the black sets in any given constructable figure line tend to be my favourites and with us now knowing (apparently) all of the sets for this year I can't help but feel a little shafted on the black set front. No Stringer, no analogous villain for him to fight. Compared to last year where we got Black Phantom, Stringer, Core Hunter...aswell as lots of nice black pieces on other sets who weren't primarily black.
-
And you can get them both in a two pack for £7.86 from Tesco.
-
Not really...Core Hunter and Von Nebula also used to be heroes and they turned into villains.
-
You could be right but I can't see it happening myself. I wouldn't be surprised though, for some reason I'm expecting this Summer wave to be a small one and for us to have another two heroes on top of that list along with accompanying villains seems a little more than I was expecting (though I suppose only two more sets than I was anticipating - I was just expecting the rest of the Heroes and a villain for each, no repeats of characters) as for the Rocka Idea: I think that's a great idea. I loves Millenium Slizer and think it could work out quite well - but if all of the pieces in the set are to be used for both configurations then it's likely one will end up looking far nicer than the other - plus I can imagine the specialised equipment for Rocka wouldn't look quite "right" unless of course it was just something like a jetpack that was integrated into his build or something.
-
I've long been expecting there to be a vehicle set for the heroes wih Rocka as the pilot - my reasons being as follows: Lego seems to always want Rocka to be the "main guy", but I can't imagine LEGO releasing two "canister" sets of the same character in the same theme...when you combine this logic with the fact that LEGO could easily decide to make the largest set of a wave a vehicle and a vehicle of course needs a pilot it makes sense to me to make that set feature Rocka... so Jet Rocka could easily be some sort of vehcile piloted by Rocka...of course it does sound more like Rocka with some sort of specialist equipment....but yeah, this set list might not even be real. I find it hard to believe we won't get a Stringer and Nex and some of those villain names sound a bit off to me. Of course this could also just be an incomplete list...after all, there are only seven sets. Each set released in both the Breakout AND Brain Attack themes has had a counterpart with which they could combine. Each Hero needs a villain, and there are only three villains...which to me hints strongly of an incomplete list, if nothing else. MAYBE it's six small and medium sized bagged sets and one larger set (which, if that is the case I strongly suspect to be Rocka) but that still doesn't make sense to me, given it'd be the "odd set out".
-
Yeah, sadly you're right. It frustrates me how action figure themes tend to get brushed off by most AFOLs. Well I suppose there's more than one catalogue so there's still a chance. I'm surprised we've had a leak, actually, considering there wasn't one earlier in the year. I thought maybe LEGO had increased their security somehow. It's a shame...

Question about Glatorian socket durability:
Rocketbilly replied to Sir Walter Maugham's topic in LEGO Action Figures
If you're very careful with the joints you can get away with using those re-moulded joints without worrying too much. Back in 2008 I started applying a little pressure to either side of the joint when assembling a set (or indeed disassembling a set) and I've suffered very few "casualties" - in fact, I've never broken a socket I've used this method with when building or posing a set, only disassembling them. I still use this method with the Glatorian head pieces. So basically, if you're careful and you support these sockets you can keep your cockets crack free in my experience. (I apologise if this post doesn't make a lot of sense - I'm lacking in sleep so it might come across as disjointed) Enjoy your new Toa, anyway. The Mahri were great sets, and funnily enough, the sets that bought me out of my dark ages. -
Thanks for the great review! I thought the figure looked a bit too busy and cluttered when I first saw the first images of this set months ago, but your review shows him in a diiferent light - I actually really like how the shield looks now, before I thought it looked pretty random (I was expecting it to have some sort of spinning function, actually). I still don't like the sword much but due to that lovely "hilt" piece I can see myself having fun modding mine to be more to my tastes so I'm fine with that. The only thing I don't really like is the lower leg armour and the colour scheme in general could perhaps do with refining a little, I suppose but they're rather easy to fix...
-
This is a nice piece of work! That background image is great, and the way the motorcycle is just left on its side with the helmet cast on the ground not far away is quite dynamic and dramatic. The lighting is great and the reflection of the background image on the smooth road is a nice effect, deliberate or not. I wonder what expression is on that minifigure's face?

Ahh yeah...you're right. Silly me That's a fair point about the silver, but at times it felt to me like there was too much of it - though you're right in saying it usually made sense, I quite often found myself thinking that a lot of the silver pieced in my sets could have done with being the main set colour instead. One thing I really didn't like about Bionicle in its latter days was the amount of weapons some figures could have attached to them, quite a few of the sets felt too cluttered to me, and I hope we don't get a repeat of that - though Furno XL seems to be heading that way, but of course the weapons might make a bit more sense to me when the reviews start turning up. EDIT: Stormer seems to use the new crystal piece from Legends of Chima on his flick fire missiles.
-
It happened with Bionicle, too. In my opinion, this wave is perhaps the closest to Bionicle Hero Factory has been since the first wave of sets, before we moved on to the new building system - lots of silver, more elemental themes, melee weapons etcetera. I don't mind so much, so long as the next theme of Hero Factory sets brings something different - I'm hoping that the glut of silver is something that's specific to the Brain Attack subtheme and not a sign of things to come. Perhaps it's just a special armour or something because I'd hate for Hero Factory to end up like some of Bionicle's sets with so much random and unnecessary silver. It's nice to see Surge and Breez get some time in the TV show, anyway. It looks like they'll be quite prominent. Those Chima fur pieces in white really do look like icicles, too, though I think that they look better on the ice villain than on Stormer.
-
That trailer is great! looks like there are a fair few sets in there, too - Evo with some sort of grabber staff, Surge (or perhaps Stringer) with wings and Stormer with a sword amongst others. I really like that ice-themed villain, too. Edit: no, wing guy is most definitely Surge. The one with the ornate shield could be either Stringer or Nex.
-
I really like this, very well done - I especially like how you've incorporated the "life counter" or whatever it's called as part of his back armour. Makes it feel like an official set. I think your modified Mata Nui is very nice, too.

Welcome to Eurobricks! I've always wanted to visit Las Vegas. It looks like such an interesting place. Hope you enjoy your time on the forum.

I don't know about seeing reviews any time soon. As far back as I remember, Hero Factory sets always seem to come after the System-based sets. At least here in the UK that always seems the case.
