Yeah, they're keeping the Recon Team builder online, with some more pieces for us to play around with. No ordering them though, of course.

Pirates of the Caribbean: Isla De La Muerta, Aqua De Vida and the Captain's Cabin. Hero Factory: Nitroblast (my second) and Nex 2.0 to complete my 2011 wave 1 sets.

Monster Fighters 2012

Indeed. I believe that there is a small tomb in Garmaddon's Fortress too, so maybe we'll get something along those lines. I certainly wouldn't be surprised. -
Ahhh! thanks for clearing that up. I'm releived, I use the helmet for my own character, and I've been wanting to make new variants of him...they all require helmets.
-
looking at that video again, I'm still seeing Stringers helmet as being Titanium Metallic rather than black. Can anyone else see this?
-
Very nice Steampunk MOC. You've go the colour scheme spot on I think, and the angles are superb. In some pictures, this also looks like a small pistol a person could actually hold, which is also very cool. Kind of like a Steampunk ray gun.

Looking at the video again, the piece of Skrall/Vorox armour on Speeda Demons bike looks to be transparent. It looks very odd. Maybe it's marbled with black? Either that or it's just a painted black piece.
-
Yay! Ahem...does Stringer's helmet look like it's Titanium Metallic to anyone else? it does to me, though I hope it's just the lighting... The rest look awesome. Speeda Demon is a must by for me. EDIT: On second viewing, a lot of elements I know are black look like Titanium Metallic here too, so it could just be the lighting in the showroom. Nex's weapon looks like it's going to be pretty flimsy, pretty much any long System piece atttached via only one stud is going to be flimsy, and I've gota feeling the hose used will push it out of place a lot too. Shame. Really not liking the use of the System aerials. Atamaii.com FTW

I noticed that, too - it always seemed to nestle in that spot just beneath the Star Wars battle packs and just above the basic brick boxes that seem to sell so well. I think, actually, at one point HRT was one of the only non-licensed items in the top sellers list. There were a few other sets, but it held a much higher position I think. I think Pick A Brick will be ok for now though, there always seems to be a demand for loose bricks. It makes me wonder, though, that if LEGO somehow altered their shipping prices to make ordering smaller quantities of parts seem more reasonable this sort of thing might not even need to happen. I don't mind paying the price of one of the small boxed villains for my custom Hero, but with LEGO's shipping, the price for a single Hero Recon Team purchase with shipping is almost enough to buy a set like Black Phantom.

Good point! I Look forward to seeing what LEGO develops from here, though it seems to me that they'll be reluctatant to try something like this again any time soon. Obviously it's not as profitable for them as they were hoping. I know that wasn't exactly the point you were making though - I hope that LEGO spends the resources on improvements to the Action Figure line in general that we can all enjoy regardless of country. Something like a parts pack or accessories or "booster packs" would be great - but very unlikely these days. Still, one door shuts, another opens.

Well, if you really want to it's not too late - the service stops on the 11th of April so there's still some time. Having said that, if LEGO continues to make Hero Factory elements available via Pick A Brick this may not really be that much of a loss, despite the loss of the novelty of ordering your own figure in its box and whatnot.
-
I know right? I've ordered two of them and they're nice, if it wasn't for the shipping prices at Shop at Home I'd almost be tempted to say they were a good deal, albeit a little less now the exclusive chest plate has been removed. Still, good fun all around and it's a great experience recieving the set you designed online with its own box and instruction manual and whatnot. I saw this coming a while back, though - what with the variety of hero sizes and the fact that now each Hero is more unique than back in 2011, when the differences were mainly colour scheme and equipment, thus making designing your own a lot less complex. A shame.

http://brickset.com/news/article/?ID=2495 Terrible news for fans of Hero Recon Team. I'ts being discontinued!

This is a nice update. I too like the torso, and the bulkiness around the ankle area is really nice. Those printed shells really suit him too, though I'd like to see what he looks like with some some the Transparent Fluorescent Orange shells, if you have some.

Well played, this is a very nice MOC. I like the colour scheme, and I like the general compact nature of the ship. I love the cockpit and all of the complex and odd angles. It's certainly well armed too!

I find that when using those pieces inthat manner, using large upper-arm armour is a good way to balance it out and to detract from the "walls of armour" problem; especially so when that armour pieces you use rise up above the shoulder a little. It gives a sloping effect that looks less extreme and indeed adds bulk. Anyhow, one thing that's bugging me with some of these heroes is the colourschemes. I myself really liked the colours used for the 2.0 and 3.0 era - each character having a main colour, and a core/highlight colour as well as one metallic colour with maybe one extra colour in a few instances. Though I see nothing wrong with, say, the way the colours are layered on Bulk, I still think it would be nice if they were neatened up a bit. I imagine storyline wise the gunmetal/black pieces are special mission specific pieces of armour, like Evo's acid resistant boots or whatever. I like that idea, but worry that sets will soon end up having jumbled and disjointed colourschemes. Hopefully the set designers will keep the layering less complex.

Funnily enough I was experimenting with those pieces in that fashion just last week. It looks really, really good but if you're like me and like all of the armour that's supposed to be symetrical to mirror eachother exactly, then it's a a pain. It's also a pain to keep in position and to pose, though of course I may have attached them slightly differently - and was using Stringer 3.0's bear helmet - a more streamlined helmet might not get in the way so much. I don't have Bulk's helmet though, so I can't quickly check. Nice mock up, anyhow.
-
Good spotting. I hope that Bulks third "arm" truns out to be something more akin to a movable mount for his weapon rather than an actual third limb. I'm pretty sure it wontbe the latter though, I think it'd just be a bit too weird ot have a Hero with a third limb.

Hmmm, your previous mention of it perhaps being a glow n the dark colour reminded me of the blue glow in the dark pieces on Takadox and Nocturn back in the day... I wonder what the chances of LEGO using something similar to that are? after all, that was its own shade of blue and was somewhat transparent. I'm hoping for that, since I adore those pieces.
-
So I was wondering what the general consensus was on when we might expect an update to the Hero Recon team? I'm hoping that whenthe update come they'll still keep a lot of the 2.0 and 3.0 elements, though I can see some of them being removed since they're not used in sets any more.
-
Definitey the Funhouse. A more original set, in my opinion, though of course the Batwing has those Burton charms. Funhouse though! definitely that one in my opinion. I'm in a similar situation myself ( the situation regarding which of the two sets to choose...I'm not dangling by my ankles above a purpe barrel full of fish)

Very very nice MOC! The colour scheme is really cool and the vehicle itself looks very bulky and well built, though one criticism from me would be that the legs don't look like they're that capable of moving...but who cares? it looks awesome...the pilot certainly looks pleased with himself

MOD: 6862 Superman vs. EXTRA-powered armor Lex
Rocketbilly replied to Tereglith's topic in LEGO Licensed
A superb modification there, very nice work. It certainly looks imposing. The drak green is great too, though I understand your frustration at the joints falling apart - all of my old ball pieces seem to just slide off the axles with very little effort at all - a shame really, they've got such potential for things like this. -
As would I, this seems very interesting indeed and I believe we do have some Russian fans present, too. Hopefully one of them could shed some light on it - and if not, I'm sure this is something they'd appreciate knowing about if they didn't already. I'd love a pack like that with my purchase, if it is what is sounds like.
