  1. Thanks! - I've just examined my piece and compared it to your picture. Assuming the one on the left is the faulty one, like I assume it is, then it looks like you've solved my problem! Thanks for your replies everyone else, much appreciated.
  2. My favourites have to be the characters from the "competition" sets; the cyan and purple ones. They're the only Technic figures I had as a kid but they're great. I spent hours making weapons for them out of technic pieces, and powered armour suits out of Slizer parts.
  3. I've recently started building my 7066 Earth Defence Headquarters and have just finished the little Viper fighter ship from bag 2. However, the canopy piece wont stay shut - it keeps opening slightly - whenever you push the canopy piece down, it pops up very slightly at the front end, leaving a noticeable gap and looks ugly. Does anyone else with this set have this problem, and have you done anything about? or is it just me? I've been through the instructions and seem to have built everything correctly. I've seen pictures online and the canopy piece certainly seems to look fine in ever picture I've seen. Sorry if I've started this thread in the wrong forum, or if starting a new thread for this is unnecessary but I didn't want to bump the review topic for this set.
  4. Fair point; I wasn't expected it to be re-cast in a harder plastic but you do make a good point about the flags. Suppose we'll have to wait and see. I've not got Gorast, so either way it's a "new" element to me; I've got a lot of plans for it
  5. I agree with Rook here; that ship is really well built and has some good angles and details, it's just a shame about the colours though. But really, it's still a great ship. I love the cockpit area, it looks very aggressive. I'm unfamiliar with the source materials for your LDD Starfighters bu they're also really nice and I can tell they belong in the Star Wars universe - the only thing I'd say is that they are perhaps a bit heavy on plate usage - but everyone has their own building style, so if that's what works for you then that's cool.
  6. Good to know! it's a nice piece. Would love to see it in some co-injected colours. I wonder if the Gorast wing pieces are going to be made of a little harder plastic this time? probably not, but it would be nice for them to share the same effect as the shield pieces.
  7. Thanks for this great review! The figures are okay, a bit boring perhaps but still nice and simple and a nice contrast to some of the more detailed figures we've been getting of late. I don't like how Wonder Woman looks from behind, though. It seems that the 1X4 grey SNOT piece has been changed slightly with rounded corners. I always thought that piece seemed a little sharp. The model itself is very nice looking and contains some great pieces in lovely colours but I find it frustrating that the legs lack mobility and that the arms seem to be somewhat limited too but gladly it doesn't seem to be enough to make it completely un-posable. Shame, until I read this review I was sure this set contained a light brick. Ah well, it's still quite nice and I'll probably get this if I have some spare money.
  8. Nice to see it finished, you've rounded it out really well! Are you planning on building this as a real model?
  9. I have recently assembled a copy of set 7065: Alien Mothership from the Alien Conquest theme. I applied the stickers to the model. The stickers on the 2x3 slopes near the cockpit slid off as I was applying pressure to them and pressing them down (as I always do with no problems) I thought this was more a problem with the texture of the plastic on the slopes themselves rather then the stickers; however after applying the rest of the stickers I noticed that the ones on the curved pieces were curling up at the edges. I'd left one of the stickers intended for the slope pieces on the sticker sheet after I found out they weren't sticking and it feels a lot less sticky than stickers I've had before. I know that stickers don't always stick to curved pieces but I've built other sets in the theme with stickers on the exact same pieces, such as the Tripod Invader and they've not peeled off yet and I've had that set for months. Has anyone else had a set of stickers that don't really seem to stay on pieces in a set?
  10. Ha if I posted all of my SP3 MOCs at once I think I'd flood the forum! I have a large backlog of MOCs across a few themes I need to photgraph and upload when I can but wont be able to for a while. But when I can my SP3 MOCs will be the first to go up since it's my favourite theme. Yes, that would indeed be awesome and perhaps could be made into a minifig, you never know.
  11. I think that that is the hand piece that the large trolls used in the Castle sets from a few years back.
  12. I really like it! the proportions are really good so far. One thing though is that I don't think the hand connection would work very well in real life. Glad to see you're still making your SP3 MOCs, too. When I get my computer sorted I'll be uploading my own SP3 MOCs too. I tried a mech for the Police, but gave up after it became far too blocky. Nice work!
  13. Great news! looking forward to seeing further renders. Getting some of your stuff moulded would be even more awesome.
  14. Seems like he may have the DK Brickmaster books confused with the US Brickmaster magazine which you have to subscribe to and get sent a set in the post every so often. At least that's what I make of it. I don't think exclusive Brickmaster sets have ever been sold in stores. Sure, some have popped up on eBay but not in proper shops on a retail scale.
  15. He did, but he said something else that sounded like the new joints wouldn't appear from the beginning of the wave, i.e We'll get them, but not just yet.
  16. Your review has really made me warm to this set. I like the colour scheme and the recolored pieces are very nice. The way his jaw opens is great. If I get this figure, I may end up converting him to a quadruped, just to see how it goes.
  17. It certainly looks that way from Siegfried's picture. A shame, I was hoping for transparent purple. Oh well. When I get Rocka I think I'll be making a few modifications. I expect to be modifying all of the larger Hero sets to some degree. I'll be making him look less cluttered by removing either the shield or ammo belt...thing. Apart from that I think he looks great.
  18. I too like to see existing sets redone and these are very nice. I missed pretty much all of the Pirates sets when I was younger, but really wanted to get some of them and regret them now - your version of Cannon Cove is great, I really wanted that one as a kid. Your version of Imperial Cannon is also very nice. I got the chance to get this as a kid but got a small Insectoids set instead. I think I prefer the Insectoid set to this day, but if the set was more like your re-imagined version then maybe I wouldn't have been so sure..
  19. As a whole I think this set looks great though the white armour is slightly annoying, as is the trans-orange cladding. Like many I was hoping that it would be transparent red. Ah well, he's a great looking set overall. Thanks for another quality review!
  20. Astounding MOCs! these are simply amazing. I'm a huge fan of Blacktron, they're my favourite LEGO Space faction so it's great to see such fantastic MOCs for the faction. My favourite has to be the heavy walking attack tank. That thing looks amazing, especially the cockpit area. Fantastic work! I like the colour scheme though personally I prefer the original Blacktron colours of black, trans yellow and trans red.
  21. So far this Batman is my favourite of the Superheroes figures as a completed model (though Joker has a better selection of useful armour pieces) I just love those new blades he has and think his colour scheme is the best in the line. It would be nice if he came with a fabric cape though, but his wings are quite a nice alternative. Thanks for all of these awesome reviews - the picture quality is superb and they're well written too.
  22. True; it's a nice looking piece and a nice looking weapon overall - when viewed from the side! the way it's going to be offset thanks to its construction just annoys me though it's a great use of that new part so it is not all bad....and a trans blue chain would just be delightful. Zane really got the short straw with having those shuriken as his golden weapon...well, as far as set representations go
  23. Regardless of whether you'd rather have an original fantasy theme from LEGO or would rather a fully licensed series of Lord of the Rings sets, the one thing we can all agree on is that if this is true then a Lord of the Rings theme would have great parts for LEGO building in general, especially for fantasy and castle builders. Sure, a lot of classic pirates fans would much rather have had a continuation of the 2009 LEGO Pirates sets over the Pirate of the Caribbean sets, but they'd likely be telling a few fibs if they didn't think that the license bought some excellent pieces for the Pirates theme in general. Personally, if a Lord of the Rings theme is released I wont be too bothered myself but I'm definitely looking forward to some of the pieces it might bring. (And I'm a fan of the books and films, for the record)
  24. I'd say trying to find the more recent Brickbeard's Bounty would be a better buy. It's a newer set and has more to it than this one, though certain parts could be very useful, like the hulls (if you don't mind prefab hulls for your MOCs) and the sails (though the sails in Brickbeard Bounty are similar anyway)
  25. I'm the opposite here. I like the way the mech looks though think the lack of knees in the legs is a bit rubbish...I imagine this would shuffle somewhat; though on the whole the set looks very promising and could work out to be quite economical compared to other sets in the theme if you're buying only for parts and also seems to be the best of the sets so far for action figure related parts. On the other had, the scythe looks very fragile to me, very liable to having the blade fall off...the way the blade is going to be offset is also a bit irritating. It frustrates me how Kai gets a unique golden weapon moulded for him, while the other ninjas just have these brick built golden weapons that seem a little hit or miss.
