  1. I used to love this set when I was younger. I bought it from the hospital, and built it in one of the corridors then took it on an adventure with me all around the hospital. Looking at your pics, I think these sets have aged better than the Toa themselves somehow - perhaps it's because they're made from Technic pieces that are still widely used today as opposed to larger pieces specific to the Toa that, apart from a few exceptions, are no longer used because they're very specialized. Anyhow, great review and fantastic pictures! Perhaps you'd like to consider joining the Reviewers Academy?
  2. I'm unfamiliar with the rules of Heroica, but I've wondered what the sets would look like put together in a slighlty more "adventurous" manner to the way LEGO suggest; and I have to say it looks good - though a little cluttered. Since I'm unfamiliar with the game itself, I'm having a hard time telling which is official LEGO, and which is your own additions - though I suppose that could be taken as a compliment
  3. This is cool - not something I really associate with the Christmas season (besides the chap on the surfboard, of course), but of course that's because I live in the UK The water in the MOC is really, really well done, especially the wave around the surfboard!
  4. Pretty well done! I like how there's an interior though I think that the colours here are a little random - perhaps changing a few of the brighter colours to a more subtle shad would help here. Love the Obi-Wan Force ghost, too
  5. One of the things that is annoying for me about this theme is the names of some of the sets - I mean "Catwoman Catycle City Chase" is a bit of an awkward mouthful...too much alliteration! and some of them don't make that much sense, either; "Batmobile and the Two Face-Chase" just seems awkward to me, something just sounds off. Maybe they called it that because of the rhyme. Either way, I know it's hardly going to impact on the quality of the sets themselves, it's just something I find a little frustrating.
  6. The new Nya figure in her Samurai gear kind of reminds me of Zam Wessel from Star Wars. Even her face, I think, reminds of of the Zam Wessel minfig from back in, what, 2002? I think that's pretty cool. I'm really liking the looks of these trans-purple canopy pieces, they're beautiful.
  7. Awesome.I like the printed windscreen on the TIE, should come in handy for other things
  8. Ahh I suspected so. Do you reckon they'll fix it before the sets are shipped out? It doesn't seem likely to me.
  9. The transparent cladding on Furno's shoulder looks odd to me. Since you can see through it, it looks like it's not really attached, and just floating there - or am I seeing things?
  10. I'm expecting this theme to be similar to Ghostbusters - a team of heroes battle/capture various monsters; things like werewolves or vampires...things of that nature.
  11. Ahh well I'll give your newly discovered connection a try when I'm able to use my sets next, looks very good. Wow! that's a lot of money for one figure!
  12. This is lovely. I'm unfamiliar with source material for this MOC, but it's definitely brilliantly made, and looks very complex in places, too.
  13. Thanks for the superb review! Glad to see some 2012 reviews on Eurobricks, especially such high quality ones. I'm a fan of this set, as it reminds me of my youth, receiving the Dino Research Compound as a birthday gift about ten years ago from my parents...back when they still bought me LEGO These dinosaurs certainly make the ones from that set look outdated, don't they? I'm actually quite a fan of the helicopter in this set, I actually don't like the little jeep that much - it's quite nice, of course, but pretty generic. Just out of curiosity, though - how well does this thing fit on a baseplate? I'd quite like to get one, but I'm considering mounting it. I've counted, and it looks like I'll need a couple of the green 32X32 plates since I think the green would look nicer than the larger gray ones, considering those lovely green pieces already acting as baseplate.
  14. This is very cool. I'm not that into fantasy, but the piece usage here is fantastic - how are the Technic axles that attach the lower legs to the Hero Factory joint piece held in? just by friction? I don't recall there being any other connection on them apart from the ball and cup.
  15. This is so cool! I'm quite fond of the scale you build at, and the colour scheme is really very good. My favourite detail though as to be the the ways the legs look - just right!
  16. I've got a feeling that they'll turn up alongside the next series of Minifigures. Just a hunch.
  17. Beautiful! what a brilliant project - somehow I've managed to miss this topic over the time it's been updated, but now I've found it I'm overwhelmed by all of the work you've put in. Very professional, and the end result is magnificent. Great job with the decals, too. Shame the Bricklink order didn't turn up, though. I think this is the closest I'll ever come to seeing pictures of this set brand new, and I must say I can certainly see why it's regarded as a classic.
  18. I just purchased the full game after watching some tutorials on YouTube and playing the free classic version for a little while. I'd like to be able to visit the Eurobricks Server and maybe contribute something, if I may and when I'm a little more experienced and also when I've solved this awful lag/crashing problem I've been getting
  19. Here's a review of Cole's vehicle, courtesy of The Brickshow. Looks good.
  20. Me too! I'm still wanting to find out whether the ARC comes with a full set of red commando gear.
  21. Welcome back! I remember seeing you around the forum too!
  22. Certainly very bright. It looks a little open though, for saying it's supposed to be operating in an icy environment. The trans orange is really cool, and I admire the lovely Classic Space vibe coming fro this. Reminds me of being a kid!
  23. Good point, though I'm not sure how likely that could be. I suppose it's a possibility, and if nothing else gains us an extra piece with every villain.
  24. Really cool! ordinarily I'd think that there was far too much grass, but when I noticed the dinosaurs hidden inside, I knew why it was there and then my perspective on the MOC changed - but this is a well exacuted idea and it shows just how well the camoflauge on the dinos works!
  25. Hmmmm...Jawblade doesn't look great from that angle. I'll reserve most of my judgement on it until I see better pictures, though but honestly I'm not too sure about it now. Partly it's the tail and the way it's built; doesn't that mean that one of the fins will stick out more than the other? On the other hand, Toxic Reapa looks as good at the prelim pictures suggested. Maybe whoever built him didn't add the leg armour for some reason? after all, he's got a Hero Core in that picture too and since nobody seems to be able to confirm how this person got the sets, there might be a chance foul play is involved - remember those Friends keyrings that turned up a while ago with the mismatched logos and things? stuff that turns up out of a factory when it's not supposed to seems to be shoddily assembled. Might be a case of that. EDIT: Nevermind, Aanchir just jogged my memory about the leg design. I should really have look at those pictures to make my own judgment Since he's got a Hero Core, though this must mean that whoever has the sets has a Hero! perhaps.
