  1. This is really very cool, I love the skull on front and all of the bits tackedon to the side, like the oil drums and the a RPG launcher. Very cool - love the fig, too.
  2. I agree! it annoys me greaty how standard clones don't have printed details on the legs, but some of the more "special" ones do. Stormtroopers too, though it's less annoying with them since LEGO has only ever released plain stormie and sandtroopers - still, compare the current stormtrooper to the sandtrooper and it's obvious the normal stormie should have the leg printing too. It seems TLG only print details on legs if they're going to have some other details too, like painted markings or the sand weathering.
  3. I highly doubt that this is true. There's no reason for it t be. The game aesthetic is far more realistic than The Clone Wars.
  4. Very interesting desgin. I quite like the monowheel look, though would consider making technic liftarms that attach the wheel to the torso look a little stronger, the transition from troso to liftarm seems a bit jarring to me. Apart from that, this is very cool!
  5. No problem. Sadly not, I've got a load of MOCs - mainly Sci-Fi, Star War and Hero Factory to take pictures of and post but sadly I am lacking in a camera. The layout is aslo a little bit scattered as of present.
  6. Don't know if you're aware of this or not but whilst you can detach the figures from the magnets, it's not as easy as just taking the figure off of studs like you would if it was standing on normal bricks. The figures are now glued to the magnets and as such you need to use a special method of removing them - and you're not guaranteed perfect results.
  7. I believe this torso is from a Harry Potter set. Not entirely sure though - give me a second and I'll work it out for you. Edit: Yeah, sure enough it seems to be Madam Hooch's torso from the Harry Potter theme, albeit with the Hogwarts badge removed, likely with Brasso or just a lot of rubbing:
  8. I wouldn't worry too much if I were you, there'll be plenty of coverage coming up in the next few days I think - unless there's some kind of press embargo, I know some of the toy fairs have full or partial bans on photography and whatnot i.e you can take pictures and videos of things on the main floor, but not in a private booth or whatever they call them. Just keep checking online. I'm sure we'll get images sooner rather than later. A lot of toy fairs and trade shows and whatnot are going on all over the world at the moment. I myself am fallowing the Atamaii.com YouTube and Twitter, Stu Carter who runs the site is doing a massive tour of all of them and is providing good coverage too. He may report on LEGO as he has before and he's already covered some Ninjago - though stuff we already know about. From his videos it appears that Japan is well stocked with Ninjago sets - way ahead of us in Britain!
  9. That'd be cool - though surely if this guy is rich and suave enough to afford his own chauffeur he'd be drinking space champagne instead? A little cover would be cool, yeah, and perhaps a computer screen or something....he might want a distraction when flying through less well off districts to keep his mid off all of the peasantry...
  10. In my opinion, merging Space Police and Town/City sets (and, by extension, trains) shouldn't be too difficult at all. I myself did something similar wherein I built a city-stlye layout but gave everything a sort of futuristic/sci-fi twist. For example a landing pad for hover vehicles on a roof top, computer screens as part of the building facades, robots selling things from booths and lots of outlandish transparent colours, such as transparent neon green and transparent purple. If you have the peEces, it would help to either convert your City vehicles into more futuristic counterparts - at the very least just remove the wheels and replace them with thrusters and fins, much like the Space Police sets frequently do - if you don't want to do that, you could do what I did and make the City sets look a little battered and worn out to show their age and to give them a sense of being obsolete compared to the more futuristic vehicles. If you can, use the signage and scenery peices from the Space Police sets and spread it out a little - things like the "stop" sign from Freeze Ray Frenzy, the ATM from Smash N' Grab or the statue from the Galactic Enforcer would work very well as a centrepiece for a futuristic plaza - when populating such areas with minifgs, it's always good to mix ordinary humans with some more exotic minifgs like aliens and robots. The aliens aren't always crooks remember If you're looking for inspiration for your building I fully recommend watching the film Blade Runner. When building pieces for my layout I frequently draw inspiration from it. It's a fantastic aesthetic in my opinion...and it's a great film too! Ohh and if you're wanting a decent sense of scale whilst incorporating the official LEGO Space Police sets, you might want to build big...because a lot of those vehicles are considerably larger than their nearest city "equivalent" and can make buildings and the like look out of scale as a result - unless of course you want the futuristic vehicles to dwarf everything else to further contrast the old and new. Regarding trains: I don't really know all that much about incorporating a train into a layout, I'm sure the Train Tech regulars would offer far better advice, but with regards to dressing a train to suit the Sci-Fi aesthetic, I would imagine giving it some futuristic cargo would help, especially if you're just using a standard LEGO train straight out of the box. Perhaps building a standard shipping crate with some futuristic greebles would work, or maybe having your train carry something like a rocket or small space vehicle. I myself have built a "hover train". I'd also be apprehensive about using a train like the Emerald Night - beautiful as it is, I think the contrast would be a little too jarring for a general Sci-Fi scene. Hope this helps!
  11. This is just magnificent. The way you've done that landscaping makes this, I think - and that (cherry blossom?) tree is superb too. Some of the best brick built foliage I've ever seen The little birdhouse is a great addition, too. Nice work.
  12. I just saw your third picture and I have to say he looks awesome from the front. I was a little apprehensive about the horns upon seeing the leaked image, but having seen your LLD MOC I have to say I;m very, very impressed. Shame that the Black Phantom helmet he wears leaves an axle sticking out ofthe top of his head. I really don't like that design decision!
  13. Very nice mech design! I can certainly see this being rather nimble, and I have a feeling it'd be pretty amusing to see it running full pelt, for some reason This reminds me of the Geckos from Metal Gear Solid 4. Like others have said though, I'd be tempted to give this a small weapon for defence, nothing fancy just a single-barelled gun of some description, though I understand it's a light vehicle so I can see why you chose not to have a gun.
  14. lucky you! Slightly less impressive, but I got a Meteor Strike today, and funnily enough the baseplate and a fair amount of the parts will go towards a Space Police base of my own.
  15. Very nicely done. I love the sleek, almost tear drop like shape, and you couldn't have picked a better windscreen - if I had to choose something to change, though it would be the rear seating area, I think it might benefit from a more substantial seat for the VIP to sit on. Really though, very nice MOC
  16. Not a bad job at all,a few wonky lines and slightly "squished" looking parts but as a previous art student with experience with drawing on computers free hand, I know it can be a pain. Some things would change though, if I had to choose would be the eyes - the pupils look very cartoonish, and the thickness of the hose, though I can appreciate that everyone has their own style. It's recognisable, anyhow
  17. I think that is really a matter of personal opinion - this Barris is a Clone Wars version, the older one is an Episode 3 version. The newer one has a more accurate cape and hood, but a more cartoonish face. I myself think the newer dark blue cape and hood on the older Baris would be the best combination. Really though it's just a matter of personal taste.
  18. Wow, this is adorable and very well made. The colours are classic and the face is really cute too. Well done!
  19. Thanks for the review of this set. That seems to be quite a cool mchanism for the transforming features, and I like the hidden compartments too - though like you point out, why hide the daggers when there's katanas and heavy artillery on open display? the crazy world of Ninjago! Hopefully I'll pick this set up when it gets to be a little cheaper - it'd look great with a Rattle Copter or two assaulting it and perhaps Jay's jet plane too.
  20. This is what I'm expecting, a brick-built motorcycle perhaps along the lines of the two Bat-cycles we've gotten in the Superheroes theme so far.
  21. Thanks for the awesome review! You've taken some of the best, clearest and sharpest images of a set I've yet to see and I appreciate that. It really shows the details of the set off very well. I think I'll be getting this set for sure, it'll go well with my pair of Geonosian Starfighters, and as a nice bonus the minifigures included are really nice too.
  22. I myself would be apprehensive - at a quick glance I can see a lot of pieces that aren't LEGO. You might not mind using clone brands, and that's fair enough but if you're buying this expecting only LEGO then I'd perhaps look elsewhere - as it is I can make out a few K'nex wheels, some large prefabricated car bodykit parts from the MegaBloks "Master Builders" line that are, in my opinion, quite useless and what appears to be a quite large Power Rangers Ninja set also by MegaBloks. There's a lot more, too - most of the baseplates I can make out are Megabloks as well as a lot of the more interesting looking pieces. Who's to say what the basic bricks are until you get up close and can read the writing on the studs (if any) I also see one of those large plastic skulls that Megabloks sold pirate sets in, too. They have studs on top and can be used to store things in as they hinge like a case but really they're pretty useless for building with. To be fair what's there is probably worth the £40, but I think that all depends on how you feel about the K'nex, Megabloks and whatever else may be in that pile.
  23. If you want to deeplink images straight into a post, here's a handy tutorial to follow: http://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=18451 It's very easy to do on Eurobricks so hopefully you wont have any problems. As far as the figure goes- it looks about right. I'd say it's a good approximation and you've done well. I hope, however, that the real figure has better articulation on its extra arms. They look a bit awkward to pose to me as they are.
  24. What a lovely MOC! superb use of the new "brick bricks" for detailing and I love the narrow windows under the dormers on the top level. Your snow effect is also very subtle but realistic. Is that a transparent green skull head I can see? could anyone tell me what set that's from?
  25. Like others have said, this is a really well thought out and executed MOC. I like the sense of depth that you've given to this MOC though I'm sure Obi Wan would have a thing or two to say about the Jedi carelessly leaving his lightsaber out of reach...that could easily be his undoing...'specially with Vader so close!
