  1. Well, first of all, I want to say thanks for posting this review. I found myself just today wondering when the farm sets would appear. To those who gasp at the price point it's important to recognize that this set was purchased at a TRU. I'd imagine that the MSRP on it will be 39.99 and the price given is TRU's hike. Given the size of the set, I find 39.99 to be about what I would've expected to pay, if not a little less than what I expected.

    Tsetse V1

I saw this over on Brothers Brick and I was really impressed with it. I think it's a pretty clever design on the cockpit. Was it pretty frustrating wedging those dishes together? I can imagine a lot of trial and error in doing that.
  3. If you check the inventories on Bricklink, you'll find that there are certain pieces that come extra in the sets as a standard. While some people have mentioned a few really neat flukes there are certain pieces, like the technic pins and the 1x1 round pieces and cheese slopes that come extra in every copy of any given set. My understanding is that these are pieces that are often easily lost and these are given as a convenient replacement.
  4. Lego isn't exactly known for their red herrings.
  5. This is pretty hilarious. He's got those Popeye-esque bulging forearms. I'm glad to know the Rock Monster arms are interchangeable with regular minifigure arms. I'm sure this will yield more humorous MOCs.
  6. Wow. This is pretty impressive. Most notably the stained glass really catches my eye. I've seen various attempts at stained glass, most of which has been pretty cool. But I really like yours, it's not like any I've seen before, and it's really eye catching. I look forward to seeing future pictures of this build.
  7. I believe I read somewhere that there would be cryogenics involved in the capture of the villains.
  8. I'm definitely of the mindset that these need to stay as is, high pricepoint, high piece count, and high quality. I have all three and I love them.

    Vending Machine

Great vending machine! No wonder our economy is in a funk, what with vending machines selling products that require consumers to use $100 bills!
  10. This is hilarious! What a clever idea for a new Castle MOC! I love the little troll children. This is classic. Great job.
  11. Yeah, I'm also of the mindset that stickers aren't really a bad thing. To me, they increase the options available when considering using certain pieces from a MOC standpoint. But I honestly think they flesh out the models that TLC releases rather well. I know many people disagree, but I honestly think they make the designs look better (most of the time.)
  12. Hey, these are pretty cool. They certainly have the feel of the classic pirates line.
  13. Very cool MOC. The rail is a very unique technique. Great job.
  14. Do we ever get to see pictures from the Toy Fair? I've only been an AFOL for about 7 months now, so I wasn't around for any of the previous ones.
  15. I just found three King's Castle Siege's for $30 at my local Wal-Mart. They also had the Troll Warship for $25 and the Indiana Jones Temple Escape for half off, I believe.
  16. I bought a box of used LEGO pieces and some of the pieces were so horrendously yellowed it was unbelievable. And the unfortunate thing is that most of the sets were from the late 90s. My assumption is that this was due to sun exposure. I think the proof of this would be in the fact that there would be pieces that were connected and on all of the exposed areas the yellowing occurred but when you separated the bricks the portions that were covered looked pristine. But I can say that brown, gray, red, blue, and white were all significantly affected by the yellowing.
  17. Nicely done. This is pretty cool
  18. I just saw this when I was there the other day and I saw what I believe to be this photographer snapping these pictures!
  19. I buy regardless. And I've yet to regret it. I hope it stays that way.
  20. I was thinking about this in the car ride from LEGOLAND today. I think the online community would stay very strong. Because I'm not a LEGO fan simply for NEW sets coming out, I'm a fan for what I already have!
  21. There could be a lot of truth to this, given the fact that you get some pretty obnoxious tourists in there. I even heard a mother admonishing an employee today because the prices of the products were too high. I sat there for a moment and listened and realized that this is why MegaBloks remain in business.
  22. Makes you wonder, doesn't it? It was like they went out of their way to replace it with something by getting this old "COMING IN APRIL" Speed Racer banner.
  23. Here is something we all might find interesting. It was under a week ago that I went to LEGOLAND and photographed this sign. I was there the week before and the sign was not present, so that means it was a pretty recent acquisition for the shop. That being said, I go back today and it is gone. I thought this was odd. It was replaced by an old Speed Racer sign. Why do you think this would be? So odd, but makes me realize just how lucky we got seeing this early.
  24. Ugh, Galidor. Interestingly enough, Googling it just for misery's sake revealed they still have the homepage for it up on LEGO.com. Weird. But I've got to say, this baseplate isn't useless at all. I've seen a couple good MOCs using it already, and I think time will bring us several more.
