  1. I just finished my second mini modular. It's a little pizza parlor to go with the above apartment building. I figure I'll keep this thread going instead of making a new one. Next to the dumpster is a leftover pizza box that didn't make it into the trash. I used some old grey bricks I had from when I was a kid instead of ordering all new light bley bricks. Any comments or critiques are welcome! Thanks for looking.
  2. I love it. Captured a lot of those two scenes. This would've made a great set for the Batman line.
  3. Thanks guys. I have a few more done in LDD now but I don't think they're worth bricks yet. So I'm starting another as we speak. Hopefully it'll be up and ready. @moctown: Your minis are the gold standard, so thank you for the praise.
  4. I've designed a few mini modulars in LDD and decided to get the pieces for this one because it was my favorite so far. I like how it turned out. Enjoy. http://www.flickr.co...in/photostream/ http://www.flickr.co...in/photostream/ http://www.flickr.co...in/photostream/ Sorry for not putting the pictures in the actual post. I always get confused by the formatting. Thanks for looking. Mini Grey and Blue Apartment by johnparilla, on Flickr

  8. The printed windows make this boat look huge on the box. Thanks for the review.
  9. Looks great! I'd have to say the range hood and pot rack stand out the most to me; fantastic.
  10. Cool idea. I like the boy scout the most. The metalhead and wizard are pretty cool, too.
  11. Nice review. I really liked this set. It's the only Architecture set I have and I wasn't disappointed. I've noticed (in this thread and others) that the only gripe with the set are the protruding clocks. It didn't bother met at all, to be honest. Maybe I'm biased because it was the first set I had built in a long while and I don't want it to be tainted! But the set comes with a good amount of pieces (8 or 9 of which are the 1x1 4 studs) and is sold at a decent price. Some of the other smaller Architecture sets are more expensive; the Big Ben set seemed like a great deal. Edit: spelling
  12. I haven't given this a shot yet, but for anyone giving it an honest attempt I would suggest disregarding minifigs that have a couple of distinct colors, like the Gnome. Stick to the ones that have one solid color, like the Lizard Suit Guy, Gorilla, Knight...etc.
  13. Simply repeating "no offense meant" doesn't help your cause. At this point, you are being annoying on purpose and trying to "get back at us" for giving you honest criticisms. Your little tangent about the definition of America, how many languages people know, and pro-American bias is really uncalled for and quite off-topic. To be honest, I thought your original list had too many Americans, and I'm American myself. But you don't need to attack people personally for giving your list a criticism. On the topic of knowing only one language: the US is a very large piece of land and English is the predominant language. Europe, on the other hand, is a lot of smaller countries bordering each other. This makes it more reasonable for people to learn multiple languages. Neither is right nor wrong; it's just how it is. If each state in the US had it's own language, you would see more people in the US learning new languages. There's no need to get on a soap box and preach about knowing three languages and bashing a nation for calling itself something. America doesn't have one definition. It can be a continental term or a term to describe the US; that's just how it's come to be known. Call it a colloquialism, perhaps. At this point, this thread isn't really doing much for the forum. And you are also being difficult for the sake of being difficult.
  14. I agree with ReslpsaLoquitor. There's no mocking going on. If we have a question or don't agree, should we not post? I disagreed with all of the animal suit figures, but you haven't really given a reason for your inconsistency. There's a chicken, gorilla, rabbit, and lizard. One goes to the country with the most of that animal, one to a country with a fast food industry, one that invented the character, and the other is godzilla I guess. Why didn't you just choose one of those and run with it? For example, give the gorilla to the guy who invented king kong. Just seems like you went in a bunch of directions for no reason.
  15. Itaria, I hope I didn't come off negative in my previous posts. It seemed like you were completely set on the choices you made for each for each minifigurs; any input from anyone else was pointless because it had no bearing on you changing your mind, or even considering it. Again, I'm still confused about the chicken suit guy and gorilla.
  16. Thanks Damaximus. I'm pretty sure they exclusively eat pie, sausage, carrots, turkey legs, apples, and pizza
  17. Hey guys, Had a little bit of builder's block so I decided to make a CMF vignette (not for the contest because Series 3 is long gone). I went with the Sumo wrestler whom I have named Sumo Same. Here's a small glimpse into his day. Here, Sam is eagerly waiting one of the most important parts of the day: eating. Once his food arrives, he's happy as can be. Thanks for looking!
  18. I'm still not sure why there isn't much consistency in your choices.
  19. This an interesting topic. I think the whole thing is open to interpretation on many levels. Do you classify something as A because a person from A invented it? OR classify that same figure as B because B made it famous/what it is today? There are a bunch I'm not really sure about. Several of the minifigures are given to countries that "invented" the topic of the minifigure, yet you gave fishing to Chile because they're good at it? Same for the tennis players. You gave gorilla suit guy to the country with most gorillas yet didn't give chicken suit guy to China, who has the most chickens. Same with bunny suit guy, and even lizard guy (even though I agree with the Godzilla thing). Librarian seems a little far-fetched. She doesn't seem in any way related to the reason you gave. Jungle boy is iffy. I can see the Sailor going to the USA because of the enormous navy but why not give it to the inventors of sailing? I think you did an okay job. But it would be better if you stayed consistent with how you distributed the classifications.
  20. Title: Frankenstein's What? Minifigure: Chicken Suit Guy Theme: Fantasy/Sci-Fi Series 5 Mad Scientist is at it again! He's created the ultimate laboratory for creating what we know as the Chicken Suit Guy. On one half of his lab, he breeds chickens. They live in a little coup and wait their turn to collaborate with some poor prisoner. On the left half of the lab, the scientist has his control panel and prisoner. The prisoner lays chained to a stretcher with a tube stuck to his head. This tube is where the chicken DNA is transported. The result of this mad experiment is a funny little human chicken! The tan chicken is the scientist's henchmen who overseas the other chickens. The unlucky prisoner doesn't seem to excited to be chained and handcuffed to a stretcher. Hopefully he'll understand after all is said and done. Here's a view without the minifigures so more of the vignette can be seen. The control panel consists of a screen, keyboard, gauge, red emergency shutoff, and a tube connection; oh, and a crazy beaker which holds some of the madness. The stretcher can swivel up and down, to an extent. To see more photos of this and other entries, visit my flickr. Edited to change theme.
  21. Title: Santa's Workshop Minifigure: Santa Theme: Town Every year Santa and his elves make all of the toys that kids put on their wish lists. This corner worksop comes right out of the North Pole and has everything Santa needs to make toys. He has a wrench, hammer, chainsaw, comfortable chair, map of the world, and of course, an extra beard in case something goes terribly wrong. Two presents have already been wrapped and put up on the top shelf until Christmas. The brown treasure chest holds some other presents that won't be seen till December. The red cupboard is open to reveal the little widgets Santa needs to make all of the toys. At the moment, he is working on a bright red car! Some fire in a barrel is aflame in the corner to keep the workshop warm. Thanks for viewing my entry; I hope you enjoyed it. To see a photo with Santa in the vignette, visit my flickr; you can see my other entries there, too.
  22. Title: Day at the Lake Minifigure: Hippy Theme: Micro Town These two decided to take a day away from their day jobs; they drove their bright red VW camper van (used with permission from flickr user Ochre Jelly) to a peaceful lake. The huge sun beats down on them as they hope for the fluffy clouds to move in the way to create some shade. Thanks for looking! You can view more of my entries here: flickr
  23. This looks great and the van is a nice touch. I'm hoping in the future TLG will release smaller modular sets like the one you've built. Maybe around ~$75-100. They could add to a Lego town and it's always good to have a variety of similar items at different price points.
  24. This is awesome. The orange really jumps out; great choice. Not sure if I missed something, but it looks similar to the Fire Brigade modular; whether on purpose or not, you did a great job with this.
  25. @antp: Not sure how I missed that. Thank you nonetheless!
