  1. Thanks moctown! I had those slider plates in my original LDD build. I switched them out because the two stores I bought pieces from didn't have them in the right color. I think they had black, greys...maybe dark tan...but I didn't want to use dark tan. I might get them eventually and see what they look like. This might be my last build for a little while. I'll be moving soon and will be pretty busy
  2. Looks fantastic, denes. Like others have said, that walkway is a great touch and very unique. Your color choices seem spot on, too. Unrelated: are there any rendering programs I could use on a mac?
  3. jluckhaput, timmyc1983, Esurient, and Denes: Thank you for your comments. It's one of my favorite builds so far, too. timmyc1983: I think I'll revisit that bank I have build in LDD. I need to make it a little bit bigger before I build it in bricks. I also want to build that dark blue one but it might break the bank to get that many bark blue bricks. Maybe I'll switch the color to something easier to find.
  4. Thanks lightningtiger and kristel! Kristel, I might switch the cones now that you mention it; I kind of agree. I appreciate the comment.
  5. Hey there, I've had this mini modular built in LDD for a while now but wasn't sure if I wanted to build it with bricks. I finally caved and bought the bricks needed for it. It's my second apartment building and my fifth overall mini modular. ^ The idea for the building stems from the blue columns. They ended up making the building fairly weak, structurally speaking; I had to make a few modifications (one of which was adding an extra level of plates at the top of the building). ^ For some reason I like putting dumpsters behind most of my builds. ^ Here are all five of my minis to date. Somehow the two apartment buildings ended up being the same exact height. You can see some more shots of the minis on my flickr. Any comments or critiques are always appreciated! Thanks
  6. I appreciate the kind words, moctown. I'm working on two more now...we'll see how those turn out!
  7. Looks great! My favorite part are those two accent tiles under the bottom window. Small detail, but they look really good.
  8. @RoxYourBlox: Thank you! I tell you what, I'll trade you the mini Pumpkin Factory for your regular Pumpkin Factory And if you can't part with the Pumpkin Factory, Green Gables Stadium will do!
  9. I appreciate everyone's kind words. @TheLegoDr: I have a soft spot for the 10217 Ollivander's, so it had to be done. The bay windows were probably the most difficult part to tackle but that's why mini building is fun. And that Pumpkin Factory that RedCoKid made is amazing...I hope I did it enough justice with my interpretation.
  10. Those fence pieces really make the crane look perfect. Nice job!
  11. @TomLego: I appreciate those comments. I hope to get a HH one day. @Esurient, @Legogal: Thank you very much! I'm gonna start working on a new one soon enough.
  12. Thanks you two! I'm happy with how they turned out. Sand green is annoyingly expensive though... I'm gonna start designing a new one soon. Gotta thin of some ideas!
  13. Hey there! I just finished my latest mini modular builds. These two are the third and fourth builds I've done. A picture below shows all four that I've done. Here they are: "Ollivander's" "Pumpkin Factory" (inspired by flickr user 'RedCoKid's' minifig scale Pumpkin Factory) Here is the lot of four I've done so far: More photos can be seen on my flickr. Let me know what you think! Thank you for looking. P.S. One day I'll get a camera to photograph these things properly. One day...
  14. This looks great. Just a side note: the back of the top roof piece looks like a robot head I look forward to seeing more of your work!
  15. I'm a sucker for those sand blue and green colors, so I might be a biased viewer. These look great. I'm partial to the villa; the bay window setup looked a little bulky at first but I love it now. I'm still trying to pick my favorite of yours. It's probably between the haunted house, townhouse, and central plaza. And the basilika is very nice as well. Do you have a favorite? I should be getting pieces for my mini ollivanders wand shop soon. I'll post when it's ready! Great job.
  16. I do! I don't browse here as much but I come here to share MOCs so I can see what others think about them. The apartment is my favorite too. Grey and blue is my favorite color combo for a lot of things...lego, shoes...etc.
  17. Started a new mini the other day in LDD. I have some orders set up to get the pieces but haven't finalized them yet. What do you guys think of it? It's a mini version of Ollivander's Wand Shop from 10217 Diagon Alley.
  18. They both look very nice. Bumper cars could be cool little build, and even a little train for kids; a small oval track to go with.
  19. Thanks for your comments Kristel. I agree about the roof; I don't have much inventory on hand and most of it is from 15-20 years ago. I'll have to scrounge up some more roof pieces. I modified the tan and red one a little bit. I actually added a brick to the ground floor. I think it looks better now. I'll probably take moctown's suggestion and add a central tower/spire to the corner portion. I'll update the thread once I get that done. BTW, those windows on the red and yellow mini are very old. They don't have traditional connections on the bottom; very odd.
  20. I like the idea of a rounded tower and spire. Building a traditional sloped roof with that inside corner is quite difficult. Do you think an all light bley and dark red would be nice (instead of tan and dark red)? I'll eventually build it with real bricks...though not anytime soon. Maybe in the coming months. I don't have any of the bricks to build it, sadly. I chose tan because I have a lot of 1x4 tan bricks. I actually just threw together a new mini with bricks I had laying around. I have a lot of red and yellow pieces from when I was a kid...so I decided to use those colors. Hence, it's pretty ugly but every downtown area needs an ugly building, right?
  21. Now that you mention it, it does look out of proportion. I was thinking of possibly doing the ground floor dark grey and then the tan scheme above.
  22. Here's my latest mini modular. It's just an LDD rendering; I'd like some input on the color scheme. Any thoughts? I couldn't find any examples of an inside corner modular (regular or mini) so I really winged it here. Thanks for looking!
  23. This isn't really a review. It's just a lot of screenshots and then some simple math to determine price per page...which is a bit of information that is somewhat irrelevant.
  24. I like this a lot. I have a soft spot for modular banks for some reason; I wish TLG would release an official one. The dollar sign on the sidewalk is a nice touch.
  25. Thanks moctown. I'll probably throw in a few headlight windows on the backside. One thing I always struggle with is finding a way to get texture on the front facade, on the left and right sides. In the first one I used the headlight + tile combo, which I like a lot. The pizza place I used the middle columns and some masonry bricks. After that, I seem to be running out of ideas on getting a good texture on the front. Thanks again.
