  1. I'd much prefer any of those reasons, but I get the feeling that even the final comic was restricted to on Bara Magna, so that all the Star sets got decent coverage. And there was a bit of rebirth, with Mata Nui returning to the Ignika. (Although it was too rushed to have much effect) As for the EP Entity=Big Bad theory, it would've messed up the comic by adding an extra layer of confusion, however I think it's quite possible that the EP Entity is a more ultimate villain that Makuta. Presuming he's always existed, he's the cause of SM's shattering, and I remember reading a quote a while back that talked about the GS keeping the EP away from Bara Magna. It could be possible that all the destiny transformations that have occurred and made use of (Rahkshi, Toa Nuva), were orchestrated by the EP Entity, making events play out as they did in order to bring the EP back to SM. The EP could even have disabled the MUGS' movement system to ensure it was destroyed from the space rock. With the GS dead on the ground, the EP will be able to leak back into the planet core again. So far in story, I doubt anybody has thought about the EP's current location. Perhaps he will show up in a future storyline threatening a second Shattering, requiring a mission similar to the one in the Alternate non-Shattering Universe? Only this time everybody has experience from the first, but there are no Great Spirits to help.
  2. It's surprisingly stable, although probably from using ball and socket pieces that haven't worn down from use. I'll try using your suggestion for the feet, but I prefer not to use pistons and double joints unless they're absolutely necessary for bigger MOCs. Thanks for the all in-depth feedback. I disagree about the Nuva armour, because it along with the Mistika claws and Mctoran arms give the torso quite a nice round shape. It's my fault though, I can see that none of the photos actually show that. Otherwise, I'll try taking your thoughts into account when I get time to remake him. Front - The Gresh mask is indeed fantastic. Although I find that the blended version (and blades) give much more character, the lime version is surprisingly nice as well. It's just a shame that it limits the head articulation on the 2010 Gresh, but I doubt Christoff knew it would be needed for that purpose when he made it.
  3. Veteran Gresh I made this MOC a while ago, but I've only recently completed it after I bought the new 2010 Gresh. It's meant to be a depiction of Gresh after he replaced his armour, in a way that looked like an upgrade of his original set, rather than his quite different (and smaller) look of the 2010 Gresh. I feel I slacked off on the arms, but otherwise I'm very satisfied with how it turned out.
  4. Does anybody else suspect that a future serial will deal with the dream plague effecting people? Given that Teridax has already arrived when Sahmad finds Metus, it's quite unlikely that that arc will be closed before the conclusion of Journey's End.
  5. Well Mata Nui was also made to explore the cosmos and study other life-forms, so the second robot was needed to....um....yeah. My best guess is Rule of Cool.
  6. I read the second chapter, but there wasn't an awful lot of things that happened that we didn't already know. Greg has said that there are females of all tribes, but they've just never featured in the story. At all... To further distract from JE chapter 2, the next chapter in the Mata Nui saga is up, this time with even more discrepancies to the scale of Great Spirits. I really like how the story is requiring the 2 spherical moons (with more life than the planet they orbit) to simply be crashed back into the planet, and none of the characters who know of this have considered the disastrous effect it should have, instead thinking it's going to restore an ex-planet that exploded to it's original happy state.
  7. Wow, that's horrible, especially because I've been living under the assumption that Bara Magna was more gender-fair than the MU. Coming to think of it, the only females on BM are Kiina and the sister Skrall. ...No wonder Kiina wanted to get away!
  8. You can put it where you want, but here you'd probably get more comments on the building techniques used. I think I've said it already, but this is a fantastic MOC, and one of the few in the contest that really look like what they're based on. The use of Metru lids and the arm construction is great, just stick some texturing stickers on the lids and find a way to fit in the third eye and it'll be perfect!
  9. Bionicle builder Primus has posted a collection of his recent MOCs, including this fantastic Wyvern! See the rest of these MOCs, which expertly mix Bionicle and System parts together, over here!
  10. Thanks for sharing these MOCs Primus! I especially like how the Wyvern has a great non-Bionicle rustic look to it with it's wings, tail and the nets on it's legs. Perhaps the tail could be thickened at the base though by putting the Mahri tubing in a section of wider black tubing?
  11. I find it ironic and slightly annoying that only once Bionicle is over do the Thornax balls (in the case of World Racers) and launchers come in sets in greater quantities than one pair. It's the 2009 vehicle sets that should've had lots of Thornax launchers.
  12. All in the post-2008-now-robot-insides MU.
  13. The first 2 pages look amazing! Great poses, expressions, colouring and a very professional comic-book look. I look forward to reading more of this, and I can help improve your grammar as well (I can dub the existing text over with a comic-book style font if you'd like). Would you mind if this topic becomes the discussion thread and you use the other for posting the comics themselves? That should help keep things more organized and easier to read for new readers.
  14. From the front-page this looks really real! Splendid work!
  15. I've talked to Front about these, and neither he nor Greg know anything about them, so they're definitely not prototypes. The most likely explanation is that they're special adverts that Nicktoons paid to have made, although I really don't know why Nicktoons wanted ads of sets that don't exist and look worse than the real sets. The Agori Tower Defense game is up on Bionicle.com, and it's certainly worth checking out! As was said before, there's a lot of extra gameplay elements such as easily movable towers and "god-powers".
  16. Given that it's bulky, glued and based on Bionicle, it would take a serious kind of fan to pay anything for it. I'd probably buy a display like this (for around USD$40 IMO), but shipping of a large display case from any international location is usually very high. I'll move this to the Buy, Sell, Trade or Finds forum, in case there are people there who know what a similar display for another theme would go for.
  17. That was a good chapter, but it referred to both kios and feet as measurements, which really devalues the point of Matoran measurement.
  18. Please tone down the emoticons and cheese references, but thanks for pointing out what we all seemed to have missed. Vapour does sound like a villain name (maybe with toxic gas powers?), and it would be a welcome break from the A & B format where A is a strong character and B is his steed/mini-sidekick. It also makes sense with the Hero-vs-Villain-in-a-mission format for a special edition set to have it's own discrete mission in one set.
  19. Thanks Shine and Mesonak - I've added the new ones to the first post.
  20. In the case of Bionicle, I want my sets to stay in good condition for much more than a few years, which Tuma's stickers don't allow. But in the case of Hero Factory, I'm glad that they're stickers, because I'll be getting the sets mainly for MOCing.
  21. That's less than the US Ben 10 prices isn't it? With any luck the Villains might be less than NZD$25 (Glatorian and Ben 10 price)! That change has already happened with the first waves of 2010 sets. I can also see some of the new dark-grey 4-axles-with-stop appearing in some of the HF sets. I wish we'd had more of this style for boxes in Bionicle. Both the vibrant villains style and the concept designs of the vehicle sets look fantastic, and the box art makes Von Nebular actually look menacing and evil!
  22. On a closer look your right - they're the same as the Hero torsos. I still don't like the simplification of the torso though, and I really really hope that the boxed sets will remain at 2009 canister price because of their low piece count. It could be similar to the markings on Star Wars Republic dropships, to give each ship it's own personality and tell them apart. At $50 I'm not 100% sure of the dropship, but the panels look good and there are some nice recolours in there. I can see some gears in the back, which I think either move the wing lasers or (hopefully) make something drop from the back. Given that this isn't Bionicle anymore the mass spread of stickers is forgivable (I wouldn't be applying them, and the parts are more useful not printed), but it's disappointing to see that the pilot has black feet, purely for hiding the poorly covered nose of the ship. The Furno bike is definitely orange people. It's such a pity that there none of the other primary Bohrok pieces are avaliable in orange.
  23. The actual set looks yellow to me. The box poses of the baddies look much better now, probably close to their final version. Although the simple Ben 10 limbs and torsos on the 4 boxed villains is disappointing, some of the weapons (especially the red/orange Krika blade) look amazing! I also have to say that the amount of orange recolours on the Furno bike and Rotor is incredible, and would really complete my range of orange MOCing parts.
