Except for the original Bionicle heads. I don't really mind whether the cores are removable or not, because the chestplate and core seem to be pretty interdependent parts. If they aren't removable and click in place, I hope they come separate in the canister, so that we have a choice to assemble them properly or mix-and-match the colours, as could be done with Bionicle heads. I'll be pleasantly surprised if the chestplate and core parts look good and are reasonably MOCable separate though.

Sorry, I meant to say that the waist articulating lime Av-matoran arms should be black as well, but I garbled my sentence. I look forward to seeing it!

I always enjoy seeing your MOCs, because your style of MOCing is similar to actual set designs, with stable pose-ability that isn't often in larger MOCs. I don't really like the smooth lime panels on the chest, which I don't think gives a good chest shape, and it doesn't really match the mechanical look of the other pieces. The Axalara Miru looks great here, but the visor and eye colour clash together a bit. The dual Thornax launchers look very cool, but help in making the small hands look odd. I can't think of alternative hands that would work better though. The waist articulation looks like it works well, and it's something I'm almost always guilty of not trying to add to my MOCs. Making the Av-Matoran arms could be black though, to help with layering of lime over black on the MOC. (If you were trying to layer the colours.)

All in all the battle videos look fantastic, and it's neat to see them summarize the story in a subtle (if you haven't read other stories) way. What really bugs me though is the complete lack of Bionicle morals compared to other years - the Toa just outmatch and bash the enemies away with elemental powers, and then the golden armor, with no trace of a "fair fight".
-
I'm guessing it's probably the Dropship pilot, who's also blue.

Wow, the site looks fantastic! I guess Heroes do everything, from traffic control to averting natural disasters! The numbers on the site are interesting (even though they look like they're stored as cookies). Over a thousand teams active?

I see the similarity there, but it could easily be a co-incidence of two people coming to the same conclusion of "cool", or even both using the Vitruvian man. It would be interesting to find out if it was a subtle return jab at Glatorian heads. As for Makuta and the Fallen, the similarity coming through looks like just the colour-scheme and evil motifs, which have been around since before either of the two designs. Psionics probably would open some good story situations, but I can't see it working well in balanced Toa team combat, which is really the main point of using the uncommon elements for this new team. IMO it would be better to give a Toa a Psionics based Kanohi for story situations, freeing up a spot for a different uncommon element.
-
Greg specified that the elements of the team need to be of uncommon ones, so the poll is more about letting him know which 2 elements people don't want to see. Aside from it leading to two female Toa in the team, I can't see why people are choosing Psionics. Mind powers don't really combine with other Element powers in a co-operative battle, and Telekinesis strikes me as quite cheap/overpowered fora Toa to use, when another element should be used to do the same thing.

I've merged your topic into the Hero Factory topic. Do try and get a picture of the teaser (maybe borrow from a friend?), I'd love to see it!

I hope Tahu's powers work somewhat similar to Peter from Heroes (when he still had them). He didn't seem too shocked when lasers burst out of his eyes in the chapter, so it would make sense that he needs to consciously select a power to use it. He could assume that he only has the powers of Rahkshi the Golden Armour killed, rather than all 42 powers, and he may not have seen all the varieties of Rahkshi that were on BM during the battle, so he would only gradually rediscover those powers during the serials. What I hope doesn't happen is that he gets possessed by a Makuta mentality, due to the Makuta essence he absorbed.

Can you say how different it is to the current silver? I'm not really annoyed that there is a new silver, because we've already dealt with at least three distinct ones over the years. I wouldn't have known that's a new silver from the review, so it can't be that bad. As for the gunmetal, does this new version have less green in it? If so, I eagerly await it on HF parts.

A Dark Blue Rhotuka was never released in any set. However, a marbled Blue/Silver spinner was released in the Rhotuka Ammo packs, and early releases of 4878 Bomonga contained a Dark Bluish Grey Rhotuka, so you may have seen one of those as Dark Blue when rummaging through parts.

There should probably be at least one more MNS chapter, but if not, this was an excellent ending to BIONICLE. Link to Chapter 11

Thanks for the review of this critter! I have quite a couple of them, and they're certainly my favourite 2003 set. It may be an old 2001 combiner, but the creative use of parts and the final cuteness are fantastic! One of the pluses of this set is that it includes a spare ball piece (4 total), which is always welcome for the spare parts bin. Aanchir - The head is Light Grey, which looks slightly better than Dark Grey because it doesn't contrast the Orange. They're also great challenges for bag-builders.
-
Mata Nui still has to crumble, be reborn and look upon the start of the new era. That would need a bit more than even a longer MNS chapter. It'll certainly be over by May though, along with the final Journey's End chapter.

Those are all re-interpretations of the same locations/characters. When artistic license starts switching planets... My opinion is that it should be Bota Magna that hit Teridax. Not because I think it would be cooler, but because if it were Bota Magna, only the comic would be slightly contradicted, but if it were Aqua Magna, three things would be contradicted, including the book that some people would pay for, expecting it to be accurate.

I remember seeing photos of it at Brickfair, and I agree that it was fantastic and very cute! Do you have an actual photo of the MOC in the gallery? I may be able to Photoshop it a bit, because while the purple LDD rendering shows what it could be, it isn't that photo-realistic.

This is certainly one of the better entries, and congrats on making a Rubik's Cube - I considered making one for my entry, but I was stumped for using anything but 2x2 tiles for the faces. The hand is simple but effective, although it would've been neat if the stand was a wrist and arm to connect to the hand. As it's for a contest, the best improvement you should still do to it is re-take a non-blurry photo with better lighting, to properly show off it's wonderful cube-ness.

According to the BS01er who went (I can't remember his name ), the video on the disc was a lower quality anyway. It may also have contained the promotional blurbs for each product.

Although more detail is usually nice, I'm glad that the Golden Armour didn't become one of Bionicle's generic "Find the 6 X" plots, with them searching for near identical parts in identical desert. The latest MNS is an interesting contradiction to the comic. Personally I prefer the MNS version, partly because it would make a better canon illustration. Did anybody ever state how many chapters were in MNS? The story seems to be almost completed, but would probably take a couple of updates to conclude and reflect on the entire Bionicle saga. Perhaps 35 chapters in total?
-
I'm guessing it's not officially running yet though? When it is, we may as well make a suggestion topic for you and the other Story Squad members who visit here. About the recent story updates, Journey's End and MNS weren't that interesting, as the comic went into the same level of detail about collecting armor. It was great that Sahmad's Tale featured the Melding from a new perspective, but the chapter seemed to be quite rushed as well. (They traveled far up north and spent hours searching for an unexplained triangle in just a paragraph.)

These are a great lot of MOCs as well! I especially like the Slizer, Bohrok and Makuta's weapon. On both these MOCs and the Toa, you're building with a great style that exaggerates the menace or boldness of the characters. You're lack of pieces isn't really noticeable either, and if it's what forced you to rebuild Bionicle elements out of Technic parts (such as the Piraka feet ), less pieces might be making your MOCs look better!

New Zealand: "Where to find Lego"
Brickthing replied to Legoman's topic in Buy, Sell, Trade and Finds
Thanks for finding out Callum. I was hoping for something more extravagant than yet-another-fireman, but you can't complain when things are free. We should still be able to enter for the entry prize though, and even if it's rigged against us I wasn't expecting to win anyway. -
Those Toa are great! I especially like the inclusion of black in the colour schemes, and the use of the original limbs (although it looks a bit too thin on Gali). Do you MOC with Bionicle often? It's quite different to the previous MOCs you've posted, but it seems like you're a natural.

EB Member The Librarian makes a tribute to the BIONICLE line with fantastic remakes of the first seven Toa! What? There are only six? Find Takanuva, the Toa of Light in the Bionicle Forum, along with more pictures of the team.
