  1. Alright, I guess you have a point. I think this group adds more diversity to the previous monsters by creating new versions and concepts, but they can be seen as rehashes as well. Fair enough. I just feel like too many people are underestimating the series purely on the basis that it's themed and contains new versions of monsters we've had before. I get that it's not for everyone (sorry, Castle and Space fans), but so many people have complained about unoriginality, while I see them as quite different and unique. I didn't love the Simpsons series, and I'm not happy about its successor, but I was able to pick out some parts that I liked, and I got a few. I will probably find a few things to like about the next one, although I would infinitely prefer a non-licensed series with new accessory pieces in its place. And I feel like griping about "the standards should be better because we're paying more" won't work for much longer. This is their price now. LEGO saw that the minifigures still sold when they raised the price for the Simpsons, and they decided "well, they'll keep paying the higher price". The consumers were willing to pay extra, so the company kept the price where it was.
  2. I think that's entirely the wrong idea. These minifigures are vastly different intepretations of previous concepts. They would be rehashes if the series were as similar to previous CMFS as the Monster Fighters antagonists were to the CMF monsters, but they're not. This scientist has an overlarge brain, this cheerleader is a new take on LEGO cheerleaders and zombies, this witch is a Halloween icon, not a fantasy villain. And every series reuses parts, but every series introduces new ones, too. So far, we have: Pigtail hair Flip hairdo with cat ears Monster plant mask WItch hat/hair Giant-brained scientist head And I'm sure there's more to come in terms of new pieces.
  3. Don't jump to conclusions. As of right now, we can consider the minifigures to be placeholders (and since the Toy Fair did not show these versions on the packaging, they're probably not in the final set) and that new variations will happen. I don't know why there's a panic that every character in the universe will be a Con exclusive. I mean, who's the next exclusive? JOKER?!?!? As seen by last year, most of the characters were obscure or there were similar existing (or later released) versions.
  4. I saw all of the Series 4 Mixels except Boogly at a TRU today.
  5. There's no way that there won't be a new Harley, now that we know the perfect pigtails piece exists.
  6. We should. Every year, we get pictures from a Toy Fair, but, apparently, that wasn't allowed for the London one. Looking closer at Jokerland, it looks like we'll see the black spring-missile again, and Starfire looks like she'll have a bronzed skin tone, since she's yellow instead of flesh. Hopefully they'll make the color more accurate. This just doesn't match the shining report CapnRex101 gave on Brickset, so I'm sure it'll look different from the picture at the next Toy Fair.
  7. I can't wait until we finally see Toy Fair pics, because I expect those to show these off in a revised or better-looking incarnation (or confirm that this is the stuff we get). I have serious doubts that these are 100% final in terms of set design.
  8. Terabyte's back! Without his helmet, though...(unless he's a placeholder) Antimatter's base looks great, but Solomon Blaze should be shunned. How'd he let himself get captured. So the Break Jaw helmet villain is in this set. The lightning villain (so he's not Ultrasonic after all) is in the HQ, and the jetpack in the set is absurdly bulky. That boat looks amazing.
  9. I really hope those sets get 100 times better. Jokerland just looks like a pathetic Juniors set. That clown face doesn't look like Joker, the slide and ice panels make it look too basic and chunky. I hope Ivy and Harley are purely there as placeholders, since the reports indicated that we're getting new versions. Harley's motorbike doesn't look right either. It shouldn't be white! Red and black, LEGO! How can you mess up her colorscheme twice? The cannon looks lazy since it probably won't do anything. Anyway, from what I see, Jokerland will not be worth $100. It looks like a $60 set at most. Although I was totally right that Ivy has a dropper ride! The Batboat doesn't look worth it either. Just a more awkward version of the '06 hoverboat in the older theme. Those canopies certianly won't cover Bats and Robin properly, which really bugs me.
  10. We might, for two reasons: 1. The pumpkin mask had a 14 written on it. 2. LEGO likes to use a new mold as many times as possible. So I wouldn't be surprised to see a pumpkin-headed monster in the group.
  11. You know, Poison Ivy was pretty lucky last year, since the curled grass and rubber beanstalk pieces were created, too, The Hero Factory cocoons could also be used as freakish plants.
  12. Perhaps, but the lack of a license and the 14 on the pumpkin mask (which could be on one of the remaining characters) so far make it seem like "Series 14-Monsters" rather than one or the other. But if the standard series are the only ones with numbers, then maybe it's separate.
  13. Not to mention that they've done two fairly serious and accurate adaptations of the Monster from the classic film. This series is designed to be a bit lighter and goofier-the colorful witch, cartoony scientist, the flytrap costume, the monsterized existing characters (Werewolf and Pirate Captain). It's not going to be so serious this time, since they've done tame (CMFs before), darker and spookier (Monster Fighters) and cartoonish (Scooby-Doo), so lighter characters with a Halloween theme (and thus costume-like appearances) were another option. In real life, there are dumb combination costumes, so a rockin' monster or zombie cheerleader aren't difficult to believe. At least they won't be doing a "Sexy Swamp Monster" costumed girl!
  14. You know, since the Goblin's hat is appearing on classic GG in a Juniors set, I'm betting Newmar Catwoman will be in a DC Juniors set, since she really doesn't fit anywhere in the mainstream theme, and LEGO must have made the piece for her. I don't want to be pessimistic here. I doubt LEGO is going to lose a massive CMF following, since if it sells, they'll keep going. Now I think Monster High is creepy, ugly, and atrocious. You know who doesn't care? Mattel. They're making a lot of money off of it. For CMFs, there's always been duds. Demolition Dummy, Lady Robot, Fitness Instructor- all characters that proved unpopular and garnered a lot of hate in the LEGO community. But there's been so much gold in the CMF theme-literally-, such as Medusa, the Spartan Warrior, and the Wizard, all of which have made a lot of people happy and kept the theme going. A few dumb ideas aren't enough to sink the ship, and kids like monsters, so I see no problem in terms of sales. These are far more appealing than the Botox skeleton monster Bratz that girls seem to like these days.
  15. I seriously doubt that these figures are preliminary-or at least, not enough to have major changes. So I think the only differences between what we see now and their official reveal will be more accessories and some parts switched around to their correct owners. I don't think the printing nor the scientist will change.
  16. Oh, wow! That's subtle, I heard someone on Brickset say she had hair printing. but I didn't see it even then. I love it. Although why is a vampire so spider-themed? Did her coffin stay in the attic for too long? Someone on the Brickset forum had this to say: "These will be released August 1. There will also be a ghost, a vampire, a doctor, a robot & a clown. Some of those pictured above are missing accessories & cloth also some of the printing is incomplete. One has the wrong head and one has the wrong colour arms & hands." I'm not going to take it seriously until there's proof, especially since we've had the Series 2 Vampire, Lord Vampyre, and the Scooby-Doo one coming up. Another seems rather unlikely. Although it would make sense that the skeleton guy's head actually goes on a ghost character. As for the wrong arms and hands, I'd guess they mean the Flytrap Man, since the head sticks out without much lime on the body. Still, there's no confirmation, so I'm going the "grain of salt" way of thinking.
  17. Hmm. That slope brick might be a trick of perspective. I'm wondering how long it will take for these to be confirmed as Series 14. As far as I can tell, that's all they could be, but there's no word since they're leaked. Why does the frontpage say these are for the end of this year? The fact that they've already been leaked (and thus, made) indicates that they're slated for a much earlier release, and if this series comes before the Simpsons S2, it should be around April or May. Does the Simpsons come first? And if so, why aren't they the ones we're talking about?
  18. I figured the specialization was a big factor, but there's an unusual amount of hate and skepticism when it comes to the figs themselves. The fact that the state of monster (costumed or real) is being debated on about a silly, humorous toy figure line seems absurd to me. It's LEGO. Make it real, make it a costume.
  19. I'm honestly surprised by how much vitriol this leak has gotten. Several want these to be fake, some think they all look like costumes and not real monsters, some are just unhappy on the principle that it's yet another themed series. The only part of the series I can truly say puts me off is the Scientist's giant-brain head, but even that intrigues me and grabs my attention. I see these as well-done new takes on characters released before. Sure, they may be less dark, but they're quite creative and not incongruous with previous monsters. The tiger lady and skeleton guy don't interest me as much now, but we still have a bit to see. I won't say I'm right, but the level of dislike here compared to previous series surprised me.
  20. These look interesting. The monsters look fine, and it's obvious by the greenhouse in the Mansion that LEGO was trying to use the pumpkin mask as much as they could. The Mystery Gang looks all right, too. I'd like to see the lighthouse, since the other sets aren't grabbing me too much.
  21. Agreed that these figs are definitely not complete, but they seem to be "final" as far as prints are concerned. There's probably a bunch of accessories we haven't seen yet, as well as five figures we haven't seen. I don't see why (other than dislike) people keep thinking they're fake or unfinished. They must be mostly finished, but the picture isn't showing every minifigure with all of its pieces. I'm wondering what the series color will be. Perhaps it will be purple or dark blue?
  22. That won't work literally, since Marge has one molded head, not a separate hair piece. However, a short beehive similar to Marge's would work nicely with the right colors. I am actually really curious as to why on earth this series is happening. I love it, but still, it seems like an odd choice since it's not a Scooby-Doo series, and it's not going to be released around October.
  23. Now that I've seen these, I'm greedy. I want to see the remaining five or the finished accessories! When would these come out? April or May? I feel like the Skeleton Guy is definitely missing a skull-shaped mask or a bone accessory, and the Witch has to have a skirt, and possibly a broom if we're lucky. I wonder if the Zombie Cheerleader has only one pom pom to make her look more ragged. Vampiress should have a goblet.
  24. It's not like there were too many more sets for this movie that could be made. There's going to be (far too many) LEGO-themed movies in the future, so it's just going to be a break, not an end.
  25. Exactly- that's why we think it is! The classic Green Goblin prediction turned out to be true, so I'm positive those pigtails will appear in the Jokerland set. EDIT: The Scooby-Doo Zombie is Spring Green-hands included, so we now know a green-skinned Poison Ivy is possible.
