Thanks Spock! I forget about that S every time! The video took me a few weeks but I started it last year before getting distracted with another project. Its involved a lot of tinkering with the lip syncing so that was the bulk of the work! It's been a nice project to work on though as it was one of my favourites when I was a kid and I really like the idea of the animals telling the story of the treasure being buried. The final line rounds it off nicely! Glad you enjoyed it :)

Post your general LEGO Star Wars questions here
Duck replied to XimenaPaulina's topic in LEGO Star Wars
Probably a remarkably simple answer, but the new imperial battlepack 75134 features a "Control Console". I cant work out for the life of me if this is supposed to be a vehicle or a stationary unit. Can anyone shed any light on this and put my poor mind at rest? -
Look what I just got - Report your latest Pirate LEGO acquisitions
Duck replied to V()()D()()'s topic in LEGO Pirates
Apologies that this isn't LEGO Pirates, but I feel it's worth noting, and probably best to do so here rather than in it's own thread! Being the grown up, married man that I am, my wife bought be the Mega Bloks Assassin's Creed: Gunboat Takeover set for our wedding anniversary. Now, I'd been fighting an internal battle about whether to buy this or not as I love assassin's creed, but obviously... it's not LEGO! My wife, fed up of me going around in circles on this just bought it. I personally love it, after building it, and feel that in some ways the amount of parts here and detail of the build is pretty good value for money. It's bigger than I expected and took a couple of hours to build. A few photos below: Edward with hood. He does have a beard, but they've sensibly made it the exact same colour as the skin. Note however that his swords are tucked neatly into a slot in his sash, which is a nice touch, and each of the pirates have this. His eyes however are just holes in the head! Three Pirates and Edward - all ultra pose-able and with detailed weapons. Only one flintlocke in the set, which seems odd as Edward usually uses 2-4 in the game! The ship itself. I really like some of the detail, particularly with the 1x1 bricks and studs. The build was really quite involved and it's a very sturdy ship (my previous experiences with MB have been that it doesn't have the same satisfying click that LEGO has and would generally fall apart easily - not with this one!). The brick built swivel gun is particularly well fitting. Only things I don't like are how fragile the sails and rigging are. They are made out of what I could only describe as papery-cloth, and crease at any slight touch. if you look closely at the top of my fore-sail, there's a crease where the sail has snagged on the plastic attachment, but I cant realign it now for fear of ripping the thing! There is also a Spanish flag included, which other than a "This is a stolen Spanish ship" line of thought, seems a bit redundant as there are no Spanish soldiers in the MB line anywhere! It's also worth pointing out the odd colour-mix that MB went for here. Bricks are largely dark brown, but with splodges of lighter brown mixed in. The intention I believe is to create a wooden feeling, but it takes a while to get used to. The purist in me frowns at this, wanting neatly coloured bricks, but the rebel in me thinks this is an innovative way to give texture to the ship. So of course, the natural progression... how do our LEGO Pirates fit in! Better than the MB ones, actually! MB figures have very bulky feet, meaning that they actually cant stand anywhere that doesn't have an unoccupied stud either side of their foot. This actually is a rarity on the deck, so LEGO pirates fit in better So, sorry this isn't LEGO related, but I felt it was close enough to be posted in this topic, being Piratey and convertible! EDIT: Apologies, massively oversized images are now fixed! -
Thanks guys! Glad you enjoyed the episode! Treasure might make an appearance in the final video, Captain Dee! It was fun doing the Bluecoat voices and talking absolute gibberish! And did you steal my release schedule Dr Spock!? :P Thanks again!

New Episode: Episode 8: The Escape Captain Brickington was last seen three years ago, after forming an unlikely alliance with the crew of the pirate ship, "The Sardine's Revenge", attempting to find their Captain, Captain Blankhat, who was taken prisoner by a Bluecoat ship. We find him after events have taken a turn for the worse... I believe this is my best episode, and combines some animation I originally shot 3 years ago but never released with a large amount of modern footage filmed over the last month- this is accompanied by background music written specially for the film by another Youtuber, and hopefully it's a good old swashbuckling adventure!

I loved playmobil as a kid but have not returned to it as an adult. I feel lego offers so much more in terms of customisation whereas playmobil is just there really! As an animator, lego is much smoother due to the fact the legs move! One thing I do like about playmobil is that they release smaller ships at a lower price. I spotted one on sale for £20 the other day. With lego it's a ship for £80 or no ship! Playmobil also see the value of releasing navy ships - something that with the exception of the IFS, lego seem reluctant to do these days! It's no wonder our lego soldiers never catch those pirates when they only have a rowing boat!

Hi all, You might have heard the hype around the kickstarter campaign for Shenmue 3. I decided to make a video to follow-up on a "moving crates" video I made a year or so ago. This is an interview with LEGO Ryo about the series (and will probably only make sense if you have an awareness of the series!) It also handily doubled up as a lip-sync test with my new software. I'm quite pleased with the results personally. Hope you enjoy if you're a fan! Duck EDIT: For some reason the "media" tag doesnt seem to be working for me? Could a mod fix it? Cheers!

Hi all, To celebrate the 10 year anniversary since possibly the greatest Champions League final ever, I have put together a LEGO video for it! I hope you enjoy it, regardless of whatever team you may support :) Duck Edit: For some reason the media code doesnt seem to be working for me! Could a mod fix it? Cheers!

Great review! As more of a soldier than pirate fan, this should be the highlight of the range for me - the officer and his daughter are certainly selling points, but I feel it should have had an extra uniformed soldier and more standing space - how would one even open the prison door without getting thrown into the sea? I like a lot of the details on the structure, but the lack of a back wall to the prison is criminal!

After a break of a year or so from LEGO, the new Pirate range has drawn me back in.Im intrigued by all those factions. Ive gone for green as I like the idea of merchants and privateers, but I'm largely undecided!

Design a NEW LEGO Pirates Sub-Theme - Themes Suggestions
Duck replied to Mister Phes's topic in LEGO Pirates
The colony A European-inspired faction arrives in the new world, with the aim of establishing a colony. One mid-sized set could be a “starter colony” including a woodcutters hut, stonemason and guardpost. Other buildings purchased individually to build upon this, such as a Tavern, Garrison and Trading Post. Potentially, some smaller (crucially affordable) trading vessels could visit the colony also, along with a return of the gunboats defending the harbour. The pirates As the colony prospers, those pesky pirates will arrive on the shore. The colonists will not give up their valuables easily though and have come up with imaginative hiding places in each building to store them. Each set could include one pirate, one or more colonists, hidden valuables and potentially booby traps. Of course, the pirates will need a ship to arrive at the colony... -
ReBrick "Name the Ship" Contest - and the WINNER IS...

This is amazing. Even if it's just one new set... it's one more than we currently have! Now that I've submitted some names, I have a good amount of time to work on strategy which will persuade the missus to allow me to part with the money required - assuming I don't win of course! -
Great video! Really good quality in terms of picture, lighting and sound! Love the waves at the start! I also like the slight over-animation of the actions - gives it a unique feel! Certainly captures the 90's pirates theme and simplicity magnificently!

Fantastic little scene! I've been watching the BBC series on iPlayer and enjoying it, so am particularly interested in this period of time at the moment. Nice one!

Watched the move today. It was much, much better than I possibly imagined it could be! I think the thing that I really loved was the fact that it stayed true to Lego itself throughout – anything that was possible with Lego IRL was possible here, characters talking with their head turned 180 degrees for example! It was beautifully animated and was just like how I imagine a Lego world in my head! The “relics” such as glue and an earbud were a fantastic reminder of scale. I think the scriptwriters were incredibly clever in their approach, as proved by the twist towards the end. Not sure how I feel about a sequel. I think the movie was so beautiful as a one-off and some of the magic could be lost particularly as the ending rather put it all into context. However, I’m also happy at the news as the scriptwriters were so good with this one, I’m sure they’ll find a way to make the next one just as good with its own twists and turns!

Thanks ManInATopHat! I've got a few Brickington's lined up for this year - all of which are completely dependent on my own time but fingers crossed I'll get 'em all done! :) Cheers for the feedback!

Ahoy! I'd like to present my latest Bickflick! Brickington the Pirate: We need another ship! A spin-off to my original series "Brickington Sails Forth", this one is based on the original redcoat's father, who was a Pirate, no less! Desperate times call for desperate measures, and Captain Brickington needs a new ship. But Captain Barnacle-Brick has a similar plan... Hope you enjoy! Let me know what you think! :pir-classic:Duck

Real-life find of amazing Lego Pirates display in Ecuador
Duck replied to Duck's topic in LEGO Pirates
It also sold Mega Blocks and other similar brands. The logo above the door was of a 2x2 green brick, with the word "Block" across it. I did stick my head through the door but didn't venture in further due to time constraints sadly! It is a bit strange because the pick-a-brick wall looks identical to a lego store one! This is the only reference I can find to it on the internet - http://www.elunivers...ertas-guayaquil Part of the article, according to google translate explains... Glad you guys liked it! -
Not quite sure if this should go in this forum or the MOC one... feel free to move as appropriate mods! While on a recent work field-trip to Ecuador, I briefly visited a shopping centre - somewhere in Guayaquil, and found a shop known as the "Block" store. While my colleagues were unimpressed with the display in the window and moved on to a book store, I stayed for a moment and took pictures and video. Sadly, I I had only taken my old mobile phone with me and so the picture quality is shocking but felt it required documenting somehow. I was mightily impressed and it was probably better in real life than comes across here! This video shows all the moving parts, of which there were several! Thought I'd share, as I'm pretty sure most will not have the chance to stumble across this particular shop! Pleased to see pirates are still a theme associated with the Lego brick! Duck

Thanks for pointing that out! It always amazes me that TLG seem determined to incorporate Pirates into their different videogames (particularly the ones where you bounce between worlds) and attractions like Legoland – generally keeping it as part of the culture, without it being a current theme. I personally can’t think of another theme which has been and gone which is still referred to so much. I suppose most themes are replaced by something vaguely similar however. I’m sure this has been raised several times somewhere in the depths of this very long thread, but my suspicion is that TLG might find it an “awkward” theme, as it’s one where the criminals are seen as the good guys, despite the fact that this is a common romanticised image. POTC does give TLG a chance to sidestep this issue as they are just following the story developed away from their control. Having said that, the 2009 pirates got through as a theme, so there is hope yet!
