  1. I'd never noticed this :o However, it turns out that out of my 8 redcoats, two have these black buttons, which COULD hint at quite a small but significant percentage of those produced having these mysterious black buttons.
  2. Just to clarify, may ships (including pre-made "hull" pieces) be used as part of a larger scene, even perhaps two or three? (For example, a harbour scene).
  3. Thats one impressive MOC you have there. I loved how on each picture i spotted some detail i hadnt on another, such as the officers wife and child looking out of the next window, or the delicate roofing, or the tiles on the floor! An excellent job, keep it up
  4. Ooh from looking at the new images it seems that the governor/officer has a blue jacket in the imperial outpost set, something which i didnt notice on the smaller image. I'd say this hints that these soldiers are increasingly based on the British. Although i could be wrong. *Notices Fordo has already pointed out the blue officer, but thinks he'll add his two copper anyway...*
  5. Actually it was the same minute, apparently Sorry for the confusion though *Puts wallet away again* If i ever win the lottery, i'll buy it hehe
  6. Indeed, the original site sounds far more interesting than "6 Quick Steps to Excel At a Home Based Business" which currently occupies the domain
  7. A truelly beautiful model. Everything is superbly detailed. Thought it was an interesting approach using "upside-down" rigging, but one which worked brilliantly! I love the little telescope for the pirate in the crows-nest too
  8. Personally, many of the sets look to me like their going to be another case of "Not enough in the set for the price that will be charged for them". Ones which do catch my eye, which i will probably sink to temptation and buy include the imperial outpost, and probably the mini-sets which include just one figure. (Could be a quick way to build up an army eh? Assuming its not £5 a box...) Abit unsure about the ship myself. Will need to see more detailed images of it first to see exactly what you get. Plus the debate about whether theres a big ugly skull and crossbones on the sail is a big one! Agree with Guss though about it being abit odd to only have one ship in the whole pirate theme. By the looks of it, these pirates are going to be spending an awful lot of time on and around land! Hopefully its just a marketting strategy by Lego, to make people rush out and buy this ship, rather than splitting the market by launching several ships at once.
  9. They were obviously a blue soldier, poised and ready to retaliate as soon as the reds took a step forward *nods*
  10. Wow, thats incredible! Nice work :) I really liked the whole style of the fortress, and i felt that the design of the cannons used fitted in so well with it! Purely out of interest, because i'm nosey, was there a price listed if someone was to have rediculous amounts of money and want to buy it?
  11. The words were taken out of my mouth! Red coats all the way, and i believe they have just taken the lead with my vote! I do however, think that the sails of the caribean clipper look mighty fine as a navy-ship, over those of the red soldiers - but i'm sure that would go in a completely different topic. So in terms of just the soldiers, the red ones win it for me!
  12. Thanks for the help! That site certainly looks useful! :) And sorry for posting in the wrong section! I'll know for next time! ;)
  13. Ahoy there! Now, first of all, i 100% appologise in advance if this is in the wrong section, or if this in some form of way breaks eurobricks rules! From looking around brickshelf and here at some of the wonderfully detailed fleets of pirate ships which people have built, and in particular at the rows of cannons, lots of the flag pieces which cover the cannons, several masts and lots of rigging pieces, it occured to me as to how people obtain all these rather specific parts in large numbers? Is it simply a matter of sitting around and waiting for them to appear on ebay, or is there another way in which people manage this? Again, sorry if this seems a rather silly/inappropriate question, but its bugging me :p Thanks in advance! :)
  14. Ahah! Knew someone would have made something like this! Just couldnt spot it! :p Thanks! :)
  15. I would love to see a highly detailed costal town/port set or sets. And by that i would like it to have alot of houses and buildings in it, none of this "Two houses and its a town" rubbish ;). Pirates have to have some land action after all? Theres all that pillaging to do, not to mention those exciting chases through a crowded street, knocking over market stalls etc :)
  16. Ahoy! Upon a recent tidy-up of my room, i came accross my old lego, and feeling all nostalgic and whatnot, i decided to have an attempt at building some custom pirate/soldier ships, with the bits and bobs i had in the (several) large boxes, and maybe even have a play with my lego studios film programme which amazingly still works after all these years... So far, construction is going well, but i seem to have mislaid most of my sails :( I've tried looking through the forums for help on this matter, so i appologise if i missed a topic. So, the basics of the topic is, does anyone have any hints and tips about how to make low-budget yet realisticish sails? Many thanks! :)
