  1. This is what I like! The embassy itself looks great, nice transitions between stone and woodwork, the yellow works very well in here. Perhaps the bright red looks a bit too 'clean' as Mitgardia is a harsh region for buildings. And some small amounts of foliage would break up the snow nicely. But I guess the best of all is, I had a good laugh about the dwarf and his catapult, and the XL (!) barrel of ale. Ale is delicious, especially Avalonian Dwarven Ale, especially in XL barrels! Great stuff!
  2. Fellow guildsmen! The Avalonia Trading Company has established an embassy in the rocky regions of Mitgardia, providing shelter, food and wine for travellers, and a place to negotiate for diplomats of the Avalonia and Mitgardia Guild and the A.T.C. The final thread will be up tomorrow, but here are some WIP pictures. Veizlasalr Skógrhaukr Feasting Hall of the Forest Hawks Not much to show, yet.
  3. The Avalonia Trading Company is almost ready to reveal the embassy, it will be up tomorrow. All diplomats are invited to feast like a beast dine in Avalonian style!
  4. This is incredible Zcerberus! A shiny gem in the midst of the barren lands! It's a fantastic structure with a nice amount of detail and a true Avalonia feeling! I hope there is a seat left for the Avalonia Trading Company diplomats! A fantastic embassy which certainly rises the standard!
  5. Captain, that is fantastic! The fact it is all historic accurate ánd functional makes it even better! Can't wait to see this beauty in real life sometime again soon, along with your other projects! Keep it up matey!
  6. Please resize your pictures to a maximum of 800x600 pixels as stated before. Irfanview is a free software program which may be helpful. There are links to relevant tutorials in my signature as well.
  7. That is fantastic Sirens of Titan! What an awesome build! Mitgardia is doing good, time for the Avalonia Trading Company to establish an embassy!
  8. Despite your efforts they are still the same. I suggest the free program Irfanview, very handy and nice quality. A link to a tutorial about resizing and Irfanview is in my signature. Hope that helps!
  9. Looks great! I really should get some of these myself. And would you please resize your pictures to a maximum of 800x600? As that's the maximum we allow on Eurobricks. Already thanks!
  10. Same here. Another stunning creation Derfel, fantastic work on this one as well! Excellent work on the tower, I might adapt that technique sometime. It looks so cool. Great work on the ground surface as well, packed with detail. I'm looking forward to some more Skyrim MOC's! Oh, and I keep checking barrels, just for the salt piles.
  11. Those bluecoats! I'll contact you about them, as I'm in desperate need of a decent crew to start filling a minifig scale 74-gun ship.
  12. The barrel stand and stonework is really nice. Your photograph is eyecandy too! I like the story, strange indeed, but I'm curious to the next part for sure! Awesome work!
  13. Nothing as good as some good old school cannibalism! There are some cool details in this scene, it looks like an old set, but then with modern influences. It's cool!
  14. I guess perhaps 10%, most of my official LEGO sets are train sets from the days back then. I started to order my own bricks instead, used for both pirates and castle. So the percentage of pirate sets in my lego collection is between 5-10% The percentage of bricks used for pirate MOCs in my collection is about 80% And I have quite a lot of bricks.

In hiele bult normal bricks yn elts gefal.

  16. [bloggedcp][/bloggedcp] The fort will stand proudly on the frontpage soon!
  17. It's a cool ship, but as this is a copy of the topic in the history forum I have to close this. Indeed, galleys are listed as pirate ships, referring to galleys from the age of sail. (Venetia, Ottoman Empire...) So I have to lock this up, as it doesn't fit within the category we're looking for, and there is already a topic about in the history forum, where it belongs.
  18. It's looking quite good already! I would only suggest to remove the grey line between the prefab hull and the gundeck before the progress is at a later state. The ship is too high, it looks tremendous, but if I look at the height it's almost equal to a ship with two gundecks. You can see this on the large wall behind the figurehead. I don't know where the waterline exactly is, but if it is at the bottom of the prefab hulls your ship's guns would be about 5 meters above the water surface. I'd suggest to take this point into consideration, and then it might become one of the best frigates I've seen in digital LEGO!
  19. On the Batavia they clamped the capstan bars to the ceiling when not in use. But that's a ship of the 17th century, and it wouldn't be unthinkable things like this changed in the +/- 200 years after 1620. Perhaps there are even differences between the details of capstans on merchant and navy ships. Oh and I'm sure some people around here are building larger ships then a frigate.
  20. Aye! I shall not laugh! Welcome to the forum Smitty! It's a cool ship you've got there, green is rarely seen on ships in the forum! A nice colour to work with though. The details such as the rings like Foremast Jack mentioned are a nice touch. I'll wait to see the finished product!
  21. This one right? May I ask which scale you are going to use for this project? Because even in minifig illusion scale it's pretty big, too big for prefab hull sections. A first rate ship of the line is a very costly and time consuming project! You will be working on it for several months if not a year or even more. I'd suggest to consider these things first before starting. Oh, and you need a lot of space for it! And you will have a lot of cleaning (dust) to do. And as for the topic question, I wouldn't buy it. I think it's way more awesome to build your own ship of this size, adding the things you like, and for the price you like.
  22. I also thought they placed the bars around a mast when not in use.
  23. But why do you make this topic already while there is nothing to see here?
  24. It's always cool to see another theme builder expanding towards pirates. Especially if those bring a decent ship along with them! She has nice lines and a good looking coloursheme. It's not that accurate towards history, but this ship is looking good nevertheless! The mast issue has already been described, and all what I have to say is to not to forget the lanterns at the back of the ship! Consider these things as the crown of your work. Oh, and some close-up pictures would be very appreciated!
  25. I'm building an Avalonian embassy in Mitgardia, which is in fact a Mitgardian building (looks like a viking long hall) but with heavy influences of Avalonia and the Avalonia Trading Company. It should be good.
