  1. Congratulations on completing such a marvellous vessel! Your shipbuilding style is really appealing to me. The rigging is awesome, I rarely see perfect sails and ropework, you nailed it. Amazing! I see Dreamweb is already planning to blog this beauty! Excellent work De Sandman!
  2. Oh you! Welcome to Eurobricks Tim! I hope you will enjoy your stay!
  3. Same here. That is another fabulous update Sebeus! Fantastic! I can't wait to see how the galleries turn out, the base is already there and it's looking good!
  4. The Avalonia Trading Company Embassy in the far, far North of Mitgardia is well under way. It's based on this:
  5. I was never here either.

  6. You need to resize them though. Irfanview is a free program which resizes pictures fast, and it delivers nice quality.
  7. The bow section I think. Your ship's progress looks good already! Those Scorpion sails are really cool and I'm curious about how they turn out. But, your pictures are too large. On Eurobricks we maintain a maximum of 800x600 pixels, please resize them. A link to a tutorial is in my signature. Already thanks and good luck with the build!
  8. This is a nice one, I can indeed see the influence of Sabre Island in here, but with new flavours. I like the rocky shore and the detailed building. Dark red crabs? I should get a few too!
  9. As this is not LEGO related in any way I'll lock this up.
  10. This is fantastic, what an amazing ship! I love it to see how you've managed to capture some very difficult shapes in such a good way by 'just' using slopes! The transaction from the broadside to the stern is so smooth, it's awesome. This ship will be a serious match for every ship that's afloat in this forum, I also think you deserve an extra pat on the back for completing the ship, as a lot of projects this size are too ambitious and will never make it to completion. This is a work of art and it certainly rises the bar for shipbuilding in LEGO! [bloggedcp][/bloggedcp] As promised! Oh, it earned you a title as well...
  11. It's built in three sections, she will have five in the end. There are smooth bricks underneath so it moves very nicely over the carpet. Without these round plates the whole build would not be possible.
  12. Christmas holidays give a lot of spare time to build! And they are not over yet, orders will arrive somewhere this week which means a LOT of progress will be made the coming two weeks! I really look forward to it, as I have eagerly been waiting for these holidays. Here is where I've been building with today according to the awesome feedback I've received. I'm 40 studs closer towards the stern, yet I have several studs to go before I'm actually there. The forechasers for the Corsair Chebecs have been installed and I have added more French taste to the entire bow. There is a figurehead now as well, capstans and hatches to the hold, and the main mast has been placed! The curved hose on the prow is there just for the time being, I will place something similar there instead. Perhaps I just put the bananas back in! The width on the forecastle hasn't been changed yet, it will be done tomorrow as I started to rework the ship onwards from the bow. There will be more tumblehome in the bow as well, as for now it is one straight wall of bricks. And the third-rate ship is famous because it's nice curves! The headrails, a bit drafty here and there, but everything will be smoothen out tomorrow or somewhere this week. Now back to you guys, thanks for watching and happy holidays!
  13. This is a master build, fantastic! She is a beauty, and some very interesting techniques have been used. The stern turned out differently then I expected in the first place, but I love it! It has some kind of style which is appealing to me. The sails are cool too, perhaps the size of some sails are a bit odd but that is just my historic accuracy nitpicking. I'm sure you are proud of this beauty, and let's hope she may sail forever! At least she will on the Classic-Pirates.com blog soon.
  14. The Avalonia Trading Company has a lot of trading vessels on the water... I see the profits going to dust with the new taxes! The Avalonia Trading Company demands a refund!
  15. Awesome! Joined and added a few pics. Cheers fellow guildsmen!
  16. A cool build, especially the palm trees are lovely. Nicely done!
  17. This sounds and alraedy looks like a cool project. Perhaps Admiral Croissant's frigate 'Vesta' might be a source of inspiration too as he based it on the HMS Surprise. Good luck!
  18. The Guild, the ship, the EB moderating, the guitar, college, the girlfriend and Skyrim... We have always too much to take care of with barely enough time. I guess it's just life. Avalonia is getting stronger every day, so keep it up fellow guildsmen!
  19. That's pretty neat! The round tower is excellent and not seen that often in the Pirates forum. The jetty looks cool, but isn't the gate a bit low? Minifigs might bump their head. Fort Orion might be a cool name for it.
  20. The younger me was building lots of ships back then, after a while I was just snooping over the internet, trying to find out if someone else was building pirate ships too. I stumbled across Captain Greenhair's Mort Royale on Classic-Pirates, and it didn't take long to find out it was part of Eurobricks, a huge community with some really good builders from which I surely could learn. So I joined and became deeply involved in both Classic-Pirates and Eurobricks. The most awesome moments are when you actually meet up with people from the forum! On towards the 50.000 we go! Keep it up people, you are awesome!
  21. Awesome!
  22. It is awesome to see how much knowledge about forts and their development throughout the ages you have. Fantastic work! Although I meant stone castles started with round towers, later on it changed to square towers because the round towers created dead angles. I love this tutorial, I will look back often if I need inspiration while creating harbour defences. And you might be interested in Dutch star forts as well which are still present today: The fortifications around the Dutch city Naarden. Fort Bourtange. As you can see, these fortifications occupy a rather large area. These areas also provided space for water pumping, grain and sawing mills to keep the fort independent.
  23. Looking good lads! Try to stay on topic though, if you have found a nice point of discussion which does not quite belong here, please start another thread so more people can participate and the original thread doesn't get cluttered. People don't like to read through all the pages filled with stuff they weren't looking for. Already thanks and cheers.
  24. Love it. I have the CD, it's epic.
  25. This is an amazing build, fantastic! Those stained glass windows are wonderful, nicely in Mitgardia's colours. The spiky trees outside are cool too. The interiors are very nicely done, and presented in a lovely way. Looks very professional! What I like the most is the amount of detail you've put in here. It is what MOCs like this make even more spectacular. Job very well done I'd say!
