I never heard of that before, I know the Amsterdam has a partly red interior but that's a trade ship, not a manowar. But beyond that, it's a good way to keep the morale high! I only don't know if red is a nice colour for a ship interior. But CGH is the ship master here!

For some advice: The HMS Victory has a black and yellow coloursheme, the interior is completely white with tan decks. In the "Le Formidable" I've made the poles yellow with black inverted slopes on top. You are right about the brown and black colours, it will be too dark then. The first ships had brown interiors but in later time, let say 1700-1800 ships started to paint the interior in a bright colour. Good luck on your ship!

Check the link he provided in the first post, it's awesome. Especially the organ is nice.

I have to agree with all the above: this is awesome. It's very accurate to the movie if I look at the shapes and details. Great job on that. I really like the stern, amazingly detailed and it looks secure, which is a big + since it's hard to design a nice stern. The 'seaweed sails' are nicely done as well, although it there may be more seaweed in my opinion. The broadsides look quite clean with a pale grey coloursheme, there are some plants on it but I suggest to use some dark grey or sand green in it as well. Just to give it a rotten look, like the Dutchman in the movie. In short: Great job and I hope to see more work from you in the future!

Congratulations with your birthday Logbo! You've got some awesome presents there. Did you left some cake for me? I'm planning to ask some 'free Bricklink orders' instead of real LEGO sets, so I can make my own.

Ooo, I didn't notice that, thanks for pointing that out. An eyepatch face is fine for a captain! I've edited my previous post. Good luck matey!

You've done some great work on your entry! The improvements turened out really well! I especially like the dark blue stripe in the wall and the torches on it. Great job. The rest is really good as well, a bit messy, but I like it. I think you've improved the chances to win a prize a lot. Good luck!

Another kitchen! The cooks among us have been busy. What I like:As you mentioned, the details! There are loads of them. Great job on putting so many details in a small area. I especially like the bird enjoying beer, it is his last one I believe. The floor is also nicely done, I really like the way it's done. The food! What is a kitchen without a foodstorage? Did I spot a horse too? What could be improved: The colour of the wall is a little too modern for me. I don't think it fits in a ship, brown or tan would be better. The cannonball looks fine to me, but it would be even more cool if you could add more mess. It looks like the hole was there already before the cannonball came through it. Try to change the white fences used for the windows in black, it blends in with the background now and it is difficult to see the nice technique you used. Good luck to you as well!

Good entry! I really like it. It contains everything what a captain needs! What I like: The coloursheme of the cabin is a big + The repaired wall, the usage of the planks is really nice. All the features in the cabin. Everything is in it. I especially like the bed with the nice usage of the goblets. What could be improved: The contest is over already, but you can improve it always! Try to tile the floor, it adds even more realism to your entry. Change the head of the captain. It seems to be a face with an eyepatch. Nothing wrong with that. That's all what I can say! Wonderful entry and good luck in the voting rounds!

Secret lego fans
Captain Blackmoor replied to Melbourne pirate fan '87's topic in General LEGO Discussion
I'm playing with LEGO a long time already. My friends know it and they have loads of respect for it since they can't build 'that' wel with LEGO. Some of my friends play with LEGO too, it gives an awesome opportunity to create whatever you want. And you can show it to other people. At school not much people (except my friends) know that I still play with LEGO. And I have no trouble with it. Some people think you are a little kid playing with LEGO, but I just like it! I think when I'm old and gray I still like LEGO... I even think I am addicted to LEGO! -
The Captain's Cabin Contest - Information & FAQ
Captain Blackmoor replied to Zorro's topic in Pirate MOCs
My voting video will be up soon, I'd liked to upload it immediately but there came so much entries in the last day. I'll tell you when it's done, it might be handy for people to pick the best ones out. -
I'm defenitely looking forward to your next MOCs, they are pretty good! Keep it up!

As Erdbeereis mentioned, the improvements are really nice. I think your entry looks much better now. Especially the lower area has been improved excellent, it feels more like the interior of a ship now with all the brown and extra ship details. I don't really like the red steering wheel though, I think the previous thing was better. The cabin itself looks so much better with the tiled floor. Great job on that. I've found your islander!!!! He's hiding in the knight's armour! I think this kind of 'small contests' is quite smart, people will look closer at your entry and discover more things like small details and smart techniques. It was funny to do. You've done a great job on those improvements! Good luck further!

Norman style church for Medieval Marketplace
Captain Blackmoor replied to brickzone's topic in LEGO Historic Themes
I like it as well! This is very nice, especially the interior is nicely executed. The outside has a typical Norman or Celtic style, great job on that. I'm wondering why the priest holds a flail upside down, is it a staff? A torture tool for the unholy ones? Great job all the way and keep expanding the city! -
The "Le Formidable" in it's current state.
Captain Blackmoor replied to Captain Blackmoor's topic in Pirate MOCs
Thank you my good friend! Yes, I'm planning to make the ratlines too, but I need a different kind of rope and a lot of time. I think when my exams are over I have enough time to spend some good time on the ship. I'm curious how your ship is coming along but we'll discuss that in other places soon! The next update will be the sails, I need to find some good cloth to make some. I hope I can do that in this weekend. I'm also planning to make another ship, this will be a slightly smaller merchant ship or another manowar, but I'm still thinking on that and nothing is sure yet since it costs loads of money and time. I'm glad you like it YnyklY! -
Looks like you guys had a lot of fun there! It is a cool idea to build a ship with several people. And Bonaparte is very grateful for all the help CGH gives! For so far what I can spot through the fog it is quite a nice vessel! I can see on the rigging it's large as well. I'm not sure, but is the coloursheme black and yellow? I really like that colours on a ship. I've tried to make rigging myself too on the "Le Formidable", but it seems to be Bonaparte has found the perfect solution to make an excellent rigging: Hire the rigging master CGH himself. So far so good shall we say, this is a very promising project and I'm very curious to the next update! Keep it up guys!

You must be a rich pirate! Now where is his pirate bank account... What I like: The treasure! I wish I had that many coins, gems and golden bars... The nice detail of the cabin's walls and floor. Looking very good and realistic! All the salty wenches nice pretty girls in the cabin! What could be improved: Perhaps some candles on the walls to add some detail. A few pieces of furniture would be nice though, but watch out it's not getting too crowded then. I think this is a pretty good one! Good luck on the contest matey!

I think Bonaparte spend a lot of time browsing Ebay, Bricklink and other LEGO selling sites. I've got 21 Bluecoats now from an Ebay auction and a few from Bricklink. All you need is a huge ammount of money and patience.

The "Le Formidable" in it's current state.
Captain Blackmoor replied to Captain Blackmoor's topic in Pirate MOCs
I changed the name after you advised me to use "le" instead of "la". Glad you like it Guss! The forechasers are exactly your design indeed, the small cannons on deck were there already, I've only made some more. Sure! There are no ratlines yet because I need the right ropes for it. I've used these, plugged in these. Those things are connected to the hull. 5 Redbeard Runner midsections are used in here, I'm planning to expand it with 2 more midsections or replace it all in brown. The ship needs to be slightly taller. (the width of the stern should fit 6 times in the length of the ship). -
70b When I was browsing MOCpages today I came across this wonderful MOC: Recruitment in a Spanish port by Ciamoslaw Ciamek. We need to invite this LEGO builder to CP! XVII century, Spanish Caribbean port. A great discoverer and adventurer, Herman Coldres, shows his vision of another conquers in the New World. But not all of the sailors want to be the part of the recruitment program. Some of them need to be strongly encouraged. Even just to listen to Mr Coldres I think this is pretty nicely done! I especially like all the different kinds of action going on. The buildings are nicely executed, as well for the docks. The rest of the pictures is here. Enjoy it!

The downloading time depends on your internet connection speed. It took 2 hours to install the complete game by me. Good thing is that you can use your computer during downloading, it's worth it! After you've installed the game you can play Empire Total War on every computer! The computer needs access to the internet to log in onto your steam account, from there you can easily install the game and you can play it worldwide! If the pc has the right specs of course...
-
Then I have really to recommend to install the demo! Then play it and see the beautiful essence of the age of sail for yourself. I can almost guarantee you that you won't be able to resist buying the game. I've played lots of this kind of games, ( age of empires III, the other total war series, Imperial Glory) and Empire Total War is just the best of all. It's only very time consuming, since a large battle with thousands of men will take a few hours. But you can also use the auto-resolve button, the computer calculates then who will win and the battle is over in a sec. But with doing that you miss the greatest part of the game. I can only say: Buy it! But everyone has a different taste of games and a different way spending money.

I like it, it's colourful and overall it looks nice. What I like: The cabin details and decorations, always nice to see. The story. What is a MOC without a story? The hat of the guest flying off the head. What could be improved: Try (if you have enough) to tile the floors, the upper floor looks a bit odd now while the colours are well chosen. The lower area doesn't really look like part of a ship. Try to change the floor since it looks a bit 'space-themed'. The Ogre is a nice addition but I'm not really impressed by the minifigs used at the lower floor. The guys upstairs look really good to me. With those improvements done your entry looks even better then it already is. Good luck on the contest matey!

Captain Blackmoor replied to Captain Blackmoor's topic in Pirate MOCs
I'm looking for lattice windows but there are only a few at BrickLink, and they are quite expensive too. The red window itself will be replaced by black ones soon. Glad you like it! Thank you Broadside, as mentioned above I'm struggling with the right coloursheme for the galleries, I like the red trim on the ship and I don't want to have it too black. I'm working on it every day, on videos as well and the school exams are coming soon. I'll do my best finding gaps in my busy schedule.
