Darn it darkagent! I was hoping that you had forgotten about the contest so that I had a better chance of winning Seriously though, great module. All of the little details fit so perfectly like the lady stomping grapes (or just being risque...) and the guard rolling the barrel. Great job! I'll start thumbnailing all of the contest entries closer to the deadline... ~Thrash

Nice job with the photoshopping. I think that you made his look better than the real lego version does... ~Thrash

For my entry into the Land Vehicle Contest, I've made a hover craft for a character I made up named A'Thr'Sh. I don't know that much about Star Wars, but I tried to do some research on wookiepedia and use what few things I know from the movies to make a backstory that relates it to the Star Wars Universe. The hovercraft contains about 300 pieces, so it is in the medium category. Backstory: A’Thr’Sh was born in a Tusken Raider clan on Tatooine. For many years he went around with his clan doing normal Tusken things; pillaging, raping, killing…really just being a jerk to the other inhabitants of Tatooine. For the most part, his clan picked their targets well and had many successful raids, but one time they made a big mistake and attacked a Sith lord who happened to be visiting Tatooine. The Sith lord didn’t appreciate the attack very much, so he killed all of the attackers…except for one. As it turns out, the force was strong within young A’Thr’Sh, and the Sith Lord could definitely feel it. He didn’t have an apprentice yet, so he decided to take in young A’Thr’Sh and teach him the ways of the Sith. A’Thr’Sh played along and learned from his new master for a while, but that was only so that he could be strong enough to kill him to get revenge on him for killing his clan. After killing his master, he went back to Tatooine and gave his master’s old spaceship to Watto in return for a hovercraft that he could get around the deserts of Tatooine with. Watto agreed to the deal, and A’Thr’Sh had a brand new hovercraft. The hovercraft was fitted with four automatic plasma rifles, and two laser cannons, one that swivels on the top of the hovercraft and one in the front to blast away anything that lies in its path. Also, the hovercraft had spikes in the front so that A’Thr’Sh could impale people by running into them. To move around, the hovercraft has 4 thrusters on the bottom to elevate it off the sand and then two more in the back. With his brand new hover craft, A’Thr’Sh went to Mos Eisley Cantina and found two young men willing to join his crew. To make some money, A’Thr’Sh began taking on bounties for people, and he quickly became one of the most feared bounty hunters on Tatooine. Front: Right: Left: Back: Top: A'Thr'Sh and his two henchmen: I hope you guys like it! Comments and suggestions are welcome! A'Thr'Sh's Hovercraft Brickshelf ~Thrash

Wow ISC. This is definitely the best ship wreck scene I've ever seen. Everything worked perfectly...the organ, the wood work, the sea creatures, the overall wreckage. All perfect. I think you have a really good chance of winning the contest! ~Thrash

That's a really great train station Teddy. As others have said, all of the details are fantastic. It should be easy to fit it into the map. For reference: As far as I can tell, your train station is 64x32, and each city block on my map is 64x64. As a result, there are a few different ways of incorporating it into the map: 1. Combined with the railroad tracks that will go behind it, it could easy take up a 64x64 spot, such a #53. or 2. We could just add on a spot on the side, such as next to 53, where it can go. That way it would still be in the town but would have plenty of room for the rail system to go behind it. If you guys want to see examples, I could probably edit the map to show what I mean... The way the 64x64 blocks are divided was just my way of showing that they can be cut up any way the community wants. The amount of each size is by no means set in stone. In fact, I expect that the final arrangedment of modules within each 64x64 block will be quite different in the final map than it is in this one. ~Thrash

I assume this is the link seahawkeye meant to give. As far as I can tell, the female cop doesn't look like anything special. However, I can't really see if her uniform is different from the other space police officers. ~Thrash

Thanks guys! It will probably be for the contest. I'm waiting until right before the deadline to enter though so that I can enter my two best modules if I have to make more any more before the deadline that happen to be better. ~Thrash

So this is what you've been up to since you can't enter the EBCCB contest! This whole scene looks really nice. The water fall is a really nice touch, but my favorite detail are the big brown rollers. That would be a good technique for making big barrels, too. In fact, before I looked closely, I thought that's what they were. Great work! ~Thrash P.S. I like how you posted this same exact post on brickhorizons too. I do that with all of my EBCCB modules, but I've learned that you have to be careful about the smileys and the URL tags...their smilies don't use the same tags and their URL code excludes quotations. It's a pain always changing that stuff...

Thanks for the nice comments guys. Here are two more decals I made for my latest EBCCB Creation, the Crownie Secret Service Agency: Crownie Secret Service Director Crownie Secret Service Agent Both of these decals were applied using clear decal paper. Enjoy! ~Thrash

EB Community Castle Build: Discussion Thread
Thrash replied to I Scream Clone's topic in LEGO Historic Themes
Over in the Beta thread I just posted my Crownie Secret Service Agency! ISC, here's the thumbnail code for it: [url="http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?f=372642"][img=http://www.brickshelf.com/gallery/thrash6/EBCCB/EBCCBThumbs/crowniesecretserviceagencythrash.jpg][/url] Hope you guys like it! ~Thrash -
I finally got some time to build this weekend, so here is my Crownie Secret Service Agency! A two-headed ogre stands guard out front of the Crownie Secret Service Agency. In the middle of the second story there is an eye that helps the Secret Service Agency spy on the citizens of the EBCCB: Here is a close-up of the statues and the spy-eye: On the first floor, the Agency keeps prisoners captive in magical cells. The only way to get the prisoners out of the cells is by magic, but usually they just let them die in there, as you can see on the left: On the second floor is the office of the head of the Agency. Also, upstairs the agents can use the eye to spy on people: Here are three agents and the head of the agency. I used custom decals for all of them: Here is a really nice angle shot of the two headed ogre. I picked up a second Power Miner set the other day, so I figured that two of the little rock monsters would work perfectly as heads for an ogre...: I hope you guys liked it! I'll probably enter this in the contest a little closer to the deadline... Crownie Secret Service Agency Brickshelf ~Thrash

The plan that I posted above was by no means meant to be the final plan that we will use, rather I posted it as a starting point so that we could get headed in the right direction in terms of organizing this thing. I just threw it together quickly as a rough outline of what a plan of the town might look like, I didn't work out every single detail. I tried to include a lot of variation among module sizes so that creativity isn't stunted having to adhere to certain module sizes. Now that I look at it, the spot I left for Aliencat's building is too large, so there will be room for some extra modules there. If everyone wants to use it, that's fine with me. It would be easy for me to edit with the program I use to accomodate any changes the community might want. If the community doesn't want to use it at all, that's fine with me too, but I think that without some sort of layout this project will get really out of hand and not have any real direction. Also, I'm excited to see what plans Hinckley and Whitefang have for this project. They might have something that works way better than my layout. ~Thrash
-
Thanks, I'm glad you like it! Even if we can't get together, we could still have a collection of pictures that would allow people to go on a sort of virtual tour through the skyscraper. Funny you should mention coming up with a map... Thanks Aliencat! Hopefully this layout that I've come up with will incorporate both... 34 would be a park. 33, 42, and 46 would be entrances to their respective skyscrapers. The rest would be modules of varying heights. The modules at the bottom of skyscrapers won't have rooves, while all of the other modules will. Zoning restrictions can be added pretty easily. How does it look? ~Thrash
-
Earlier, I mentioned the idea of breaking the larger buildings (mostly skyscrapers in the central business district), so now I've made a little chart to illustrate my point: 1 would be the lobby for whatever is in the upper floors 3 and 4 would be tiny shops 2, 6, and 7 would be slightly larger shops, restraunts, etc. 5 would be an even larger shop, maybe a grocery store 8, 9, 10, and however many other floors we wanted would be the upper levels of the building. If it's a hotel, the floor would be hotel rooms, indoor pools, exercise rooms, and whatever else goes in a hotel. If it's an office building, each floor could be the office space of a different company. Obviously, for the upper floor, we could have to have a standard color and pattern for the outer walls. If we do it this way, I think it would allow for us to have really giant, awesome skyscrapers in our town without any one person having to have enough bricks to build something 100 bricks tall on a 64x64 base. We could maybe have 3 or 4 of these buildings...a hotel, an office building, and a government building. The modules on the ground floor could be 1 or 2 stories high, depending on what everyone wants. Personally, I think that two would be best. What do you guys think of this? ~Thrash
-
Indeed I did. Before we do a map though, I think that we should come up roughly with what buildings we want in each zone, or at least how many in each zone. Also, I'm worried that the 64x64 and 20 stories high might be WAY too big. Perhaps for the giant buildings, we could cut them up into pieces and have a standard for the outer wall so that they can stack on top of eachother. Heck, for a 64x64 base that's 20 stories high, we could have about 12 shops on the bottom floor that are two stories high, and then have either offices or apartments on top, or even both. We could split the remaining 18 stories up and let 18 different builders design office space or apartments on each floor. That's 30 modules right there if you want to go that route. Maybe I just don't have as many bricks as anyone else, but I kind of doubt that anyone is going to want to build a 64x64 20 story high module... How does everyone feel about this? ~Thrash
-
Yay! Hopefully this will bring some more people in to build modules... I know I'll have some new modules coming soon Thanks brickarms and Hinckley! ~Thrash

This sounds like a great idea to do a town community build too...the castle one has been a lot of fun (and hopefully will pick up a bit near the end of the contest!). If you guys are interested, I would be willing to help with a layout since that's been one of the main things I've been doing with the EBCCB. I'll probably contribute a few modules as well... ~Thrash

EB Community Castle Build: Discussion Thread
Thrash replied to I Scream Clone's topic in LEGO Historic Themes
I was wondering that too. I figure that everyone is either hard at work or has modules completed and is just waiting until closer to the end of the contest to post them so that no one steals their ideas. As for why I haven't been building, I just needed a bit of a rest so that I could come back in a few weeks closer to the end of the contest with lots of fresh ideas for new creations. As always, I'm excited to see what you have in store for us this time darkagent! ~Thrash -
Nice job on the bank. I really like the way you tiled the floor on the inside. ISC, here are the thumbnails for these three new MOCs: Cap'n Blackmoor: [b]Cap'n Blackmoor[/b] [url="http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?f=367782"][img=http://www.brickshelf.com/gallery/thrash6/EBCCB/EBCCBThumbs/bankcapnblackmoor.jpg][/url] Etzel: [url="http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?f=367115"][img=http://www.brickshelf.com/gallery/thrash6/EBCCB/EBCCBThumbs/beggarsshacksetzel.jpg][/url] General armendariz: [b]General armendariz[/b] [url="http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?f=362543"][img=http://www.brickshelf.com/gallery/thrash6/EBCCB/EBCCBThumbs/blackfalconembassygeneralarmendariz.jpg][/url] ~Thrash

Very nicely done Etzel. It looks exactly like the worst part of town should look. The door falling off the hinges is a really nice detail. This just reminded me that I've been falling behind on my thumbnailing duty! I'll have the thumbnails for this and the Black Falcon Embassy ready soon. ~Thrash

Very nice Black Falcon Embassy. I like how you used the Ninja torso for the ambassador, and you did a good job of giving it a classic feel. ~Thrash

I just noticed the wonderful castle decal index that LuxorV did, so I figured I would post these designs that I made for the EBCCB in case someone wants to use them. Please note that all of these should be printed on clear paper for the best effect. Templar: Wolfpack Queen: Dragon's Flagon Tavern Logo (Don't know if this will be useful for anyone, but figured it couldn't hurt to post ): Enjoy! If I happen to make any more decals for the EBCCB I'll post them here. ~Thrash

Great. Thanks!

EB Community Castle Build: Discussion Thread
Thrash replied to I Scream Clone's topic in LEGO Historic Themes
Thanks! Ha, that should be fun... Good job editing the poll! That'll teach them to talk bad about the EBCCB! That makes sense that you won't be commenting. I guess just don't comment on any of mine that I build during the competition because I'm not going to decide until near the end what I want to enter. I did consider making it in traditional wolfpack style, but ultimately decided to take a different spin on the classic faction. After all, it's been 15 or so years since the wolfpack came out, so it makes sense that their architecture has changed a bit. ~Thrash -
Judges, I was hoping that you could give me a ruling on whether or not the staircase on the front of my Wolfpack Embassy is allowed. I assumed that it would be fine since many of the modules so far have had overhangs on the front that don't prevent them from fitting between two other modules still. Here's a picture: ~Thrash
