  1. Thanks for the comments. I liked this arm as a leg, an actual leg would look too blocky for me in that particular scene. The "third hand" is supposed to represent a foot that is bent in a fashion like this: I agree it might look a little monkey-like, but it's all just a matter of personal preference I guess.
  2. ...as simple as that More: Brickshelf MOCpages The funny thing is - I built it over a year ago, took photos and dismantled for parts shortly after, without bothering to upload. I came across the pictures on my hard drive recently, so I've finally made it public...
  3. Episode 21: The Meeting at Brickshelf (reccomended) And the same episode on MOCpages. The episode itself is rather quiet as it shows some background of two of the main characters, however it leads into a bigger story which will be revealed in future episodes. The merchant vessel Prosperity featured here is of course played by a real-life Brickbeard's Bounty with its pirate insignia removed - I just needed a new ship to play a small part in the story and didn't have any new MOC available, so it seemed like a perfect solution.
  4. It's down again. All it shows is: "There was a server error. Please go back and try again" message.
  5. Great set and a great, detailed review! I see many cool little things that make this set even better than I thought. I'll wait with my final judgement until I get one myself, but for now I guess that, after 20 years, Lego has finally released a ship that oficially beats Black Seas Barracuda which has so far always been an undisputable #1 for me. And I even see an irony in it, as BSB was the first ever ship of the Pirate theme (along with Caribbean Clipper of course) and this may very well be the last one ever.
  6. I had no problem finding it in shops in Poland, bought it some time ago and I could've bought it much earlier if I wanted to... So I really didn't see much difference between this one and non-limited sets...
  7. They definitely look like the updated versions of old torsos, and there's nothing wrong with that! Even some entire minifigs look like updates of old ones (the pirate captain being the most obvious example).
  8. Another set I don't have. But from the pictures I'd say it's average. At the time it was released it could be considered a good army builder (and treasure builder ). Too bad I was never that much into collecting Islanders - always preferred pirates and soldiers (of all kinds). Now I kind of regret having neglected the Islanders.
  9. I can't wait to get it. Too bad I've had some major expenses lately, but I'll still try to find the money to afford it... Especially because this might be the last new Pirate set in a long, long time.
  10. Classic all the way. I hated the first POTC movie and didn't even bother with the sequels. And I like a lot of other pirate and sea movies! But, as they are discontinuing the current line, I'd say if they returned with POTC in the future, I would still be happy. It's better than nothing! I would simply buy some of the sets and turn them into non-POTC MOCs (and give all the movie minifigs from those sets a new adequate function - as prisoners maybe? ).
  11. I gave it above average. My collection is missing many of the sets from the end of the original Pirates era (1996-1997), this one as well. I only based my judgement on pics and your review. I like the minifigs in this one - skeletons are always great, and the blue-coated guy has one of the best pirate-related torsos out there.
  12. Oh, the good compass piece. I have about 6 or 7 of them, one of which is damaged - it doesn't spin anymore,
  13. I'm going to have this one no matter what. Looks great, although there are some things I don't like, but hey - maybe I'll leave that for a later time, right now we all should celebrate. Lego made my day with this set.
  14. I got a brand new 6253 Shipwreck Hideout. Well, technically I received it a few days before my birthday, but that still counts.
  15. What concerns me is how this big rock piece ended up in the middle of the shipwreck, with the cabin being above it and the bow and stern still perfectly aligned. If the ship had hit the rock with its middle section, it should've broken in half, the cabin being completely destroyed... This really is one of the strangest shipwrecks I've seen... Actually it rather looks like the remains of the ship were built around the rock which was already there, but why would anyone do that?
  16. Thanks everyone!!!
  17. I still couldn't find mine though
  18. So mythological creatures are alowed? Oh, and one more thing - you stated there cannot be any brick-built background, yet some contestants have already used such backgrounds and you found nothing wrong about it... So which is it?
  19. Does that mean my comic series should be moved in here as well?
  20. The new episode is out! The conclusion of last week's story, also with a subtle hint of what will happen in the next episode: Episode 20 - The Jinx Part 2 Now, it is obvious that the story told in episodes 19 and 20 does not happen directly after episode 18. It sort of jumps into the past, although not distant past. It is connected with episodes 13 - 15. I've decided to prepare an explanation of sorts of what happens after what. It is NOT really necessary to read the text below, as all the facts are shown or mentioned in the story anyway, and anyone should be able to understand it all just by reading the comic carefully. However, for those who feel confused or are just curious, here it is... WARNING! The text below contains major spoilers and you should NOT read this unless you've read all episodes INCLUDING Episode 20. It is revealed in here how Episode 20 ends, so please, first read the episode, then if you wish go back here and read the text. Thanks! Hope you like the new episode!
  21. The next one is coming out on Monday, so pretty soon... I don't think I will write more about his dream - it would not make much sense as it was just a dream... One episode was enough... Everything else apart from that episode is "reality"...
  22. As a Eurpoean I also got to know the dude as Captain Roger long before I heard the name Redbeard... However, as I started looking up Lego pirate-related stuff on the web, I eventually got used to the name Redbeard as the more frequently used one. So right now Redbeard would be my first choice...
  23. I prefer to post the final thing. A MOC that is not finished seems... well, incomplete. Besides, as someone once said, the last 10% of your building process, when you concentrate on small details and decorative stuff are actually what makes your creation look good... However, on occasion I've made exceptions from this rule and posted some WIP pictures. But all in all I think a MOC should be announced in a single hit - that makes the final effect better.
  24. Bluecoats would be great, but as far as I'm concerned they may stick to redcoats if only they keep making good sets with them. A ship for the soldiers (blue or redcoats - whatever) is something that absolutely MUST be released. Personally I'd prefer new Spanish sets over bluecoats. As for civilian buildings/boats - I think it's too early for that, I think if the theme lasts, they'll release some new military and pirate sets in 2010, and then maybe some civilian sets in 2011 or late 2010. But that's just my guessing. :pir-skull:
  25. Of course I want the Armada back! They never really properly introduced this line to begin with.
