Well, while making similar bricks to those made by Lego may not be enough for a lawsuit, I think using their logo is just enough. So I think this is in fact a Lego product, not another clone. However, if I had that much money to spend on Lego, I'd spend it on some real and useful bricks of the right size, not this strange room decoration.

Actually the big sail with Jolly Roger looks like a red version of SES's sail. I think they're customs. EDIT: Sorry, I didn't notice the holes in the big sail, just in the aft sail. It looks like they're based on BSB's and RBR's sails then.
-
I'd rather classify that as a modification (of the BSB) than a MOC... There's nothing wrong with modifications though - I used to make them all the time a few years ago, and I still have my own modified BSB (although much closer to the original than yours).

I had to choose between Lagoon Lockup and Imperial Outpost - as they're both among my favourite Pirate sets. Finally chose the Lagoon Lockup because it looks more "complete" and works better as a standalone building. It also has some nice details, like the window with those red and blue slopes. But the Imperial Outpost is also nice, I like its jail, and it comes with Admiral Woodhouse!

Yes, I agree the silver cutlasses look good, as do the silver swords from Castle. Also, the shakos look slightly different from their Lego counterparts - the plume thing is bigger and has a triangular shape - a nice variation for your troops.

Well perhaps my non-shooting cannon was from another clone brand then. It's hard to tell as I got it with no box or instructions. It's a lot brighter than original Lego cannon and looks like the shooting kind, except it doesn't shoot...
-
To my knowledge - no. I got one of these cannons mixed with real Lego cannons once and it's a non-shooting cannon. However they may vary, just like in Lego...

Nothing new... They've been discussed here many times before... Actually I own some of the smaller sets (bought them long ago though), I can look those bricks up and take some photos if you want... I love how the map is placed upside down on this image:

I see that optimists are a majority here. Insteresting to note that no one voted "Never" as of yet.

Aye, whaling would be great! Just imagine those whales. What else? Well, maybe colonists of some kind. Or explorers - with a main character based on people like James Cook etc.

I don't know if anyone has mentioned that, but 2009 is the 20th anniversary of the original Pirates' premiere. Now, it might be a perfect date to bring them back, on the other hand though they might just honour the anniversary by releasing some more accessories like the ice cube tray we've just seen, not the actual theme. And of course they might do nothing at all...

Looking at the small amount of visitors compared to some of the other pictures in that folder, I'd say this stuff has been uploaded recently. Also note that he put the "new pirate logo" in the first picture of this folder, thus making it a thumbnail - as if he wanted to emphasize its importance: http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?f=299476

It works! Both when I'm logged in and when I browse the board as a guest. Nice feature!

Based on all the speculation that has been taking place recently, and all this new "evidence" (if that's what it is) still popping up here and there, tell us when do you think the new Pirates will hit the shelves? For now all answers are equally good, and please remember - I'm not asking you if and when do you want them back, just when do you think it will happen, based on all that's been going on recently. Let the voting begin - and only time will tell who was right!

Theoretically, they could be selling this merchandise knowing that some nostalgic AFOLs who remember the good old Pirates will buy it. In fact the shape of non other than Red Beard (and not some new, never seen before pirate) supports that. However that's just speculation, and personally I'm sure Pirates are coming back, as I've stated a few times during the last few days...
-
Yes, it indeed looks like the shape of Captain Red Beard... I wonder if it means that this or a very similar character will be back in the new Pirate line?
-
Yes, that's an idea you really should consider. Actually I was planning on doing exactly the same for some future episodes of my own comic. You could always ask the creator to take some more pictures of the MOC, so that they fit your comic. I suggest you browse the ship MOCs index - you'll find quite a few large ships there. However I disagree that prefab hulls are too small for proper interior scenery - I don't have problems with that when making my comic, and I'm not even working on my biggest MOCs.
-
Could this be yet another sign? Actually this might be the first time we see the logo of new Pirate series: Who knows...
-
Good idea and nice stories! Actually I like those new mudguards... I can think of many new ways to use them, but chairs weren't among them. I have this big helicopter piece - got it in some big pile of bricks bought somewhere long ago - and I never used it.
-
The only Indy set I considered worth purchasing so far. Great source of various parts - plus you gotta love Spalko's hair!

Good-looking MOC. And a great movie too. Now someone should make a minifig-scale one.

Is it OK to mix dark skinned mini-figures with yellow mini-figures?
Dreamweb replied to Mister Phes's topic in LEGO Pirates
It's all a matter of imagination and personal preference, really. I think it's OK to mix them if you need more diversity - I do it sometimes - plus I agree that the original yellow wasn't supposed to be race-neutral, I think it was rather a matter of the palette they were using at the time and yellow was the closest to "white" skin... I actually remember myself moaning about the lack of dark skinned minifigs when I was a kid... And using the Castle series ghost's black head instead - which was a poor substitution as it had no face at all (and BTW if you ask me - they really should re-introduce those ghost minifigs, perhaps with some more colours to choose from, like the black and white skeletons)... -
Yes, they're easy and good-looking, however I won't be able to use that knowledge as the amount of those little "wing" pieces I own is less than satisfactory
-
I'm afraid that's what Mr. BlueBard mentioned in the very beginning - she was cannibalised and now parts of her are in a Town MOC, serving for the benefit of some landlubbers...
-
That's interesting... While I saw this green lower deck before, I must've missed the pictures of the stern cabin revealed, hence my previous comment about the ship's interior. Very colourful indeed, but maybe the captain likes it that way? Oh no, there's a hole in the bottom of the hull!!!
