    Governor's End

My opinion: Looks very good Matn, I love the little story you have added as well as the detailed governors desk . Possible improvements: 1) I would have taken a picture from a different angle to use as your primary one, it is this one that will be judged so... Perhaps one like your fourth one but from a larger distance. 2) Mr. Tiber has a good point: adding a beaten/tortured guard will add the impression that the pirates have already pillaged the village and are in full control of the town. 3) A cape for the governor? Other color for the floortiles? Plumes for the governors helmet and the pirates' hat? Did you experiment with these things?
  2. And we all know by now he is crazy enough to actually do so!!! (see PTV prizes) One never knows ... SO LET US ALL CHECK THE RSS DAILY FROM NOW ON!
  3. Looks good, especcialy for his age! Please stimulate him so he can become a contributive member if he's old enough .
  4. They didn't have any toilet paper in that time . People had two methods: use some old gazette paper or leaves, or use their hands ...they cleaned them afterwards. PS: Pictures CAN be larger then 640x480, they can be up to 800x600 ! (So he still should reduce them)
  5. My opinion: Looks good Tinn-Man, just a few little improvements and you are there. I admire the market stand. Possible improvements: 1) I think it would look a bit better if the saleslady would lean a bit back, that might add to her scared expression. 2) The standard face of the second pirate is too standard, and I would give the first one hair or a bandana. 3) The pizza isn't at place in that time , and I would replace the second pirates' revolver with a pistol. 4) As xpatriot720x stated, your entry might benefit from some real cruelty, PTV isn't about happy pirates... Non-brick related advise: 1) I think the quality of you pics could be a little bit better, maybe you resized it too much? And you are allowed to post them at 800x600.
  6. As said in my previous post I did subscribe as well, next to the fact I read C-P every day, these RSS feeds are so easy to use and usefull I wonder why it is so unknown by the majority of this forum. Especcialy if you want to be the first to know something like: Click here NOW ! Oh yes, and THANKS FOR THE MINI-CONTEST, Mr. Phes !!! (Maybe more could follow in the future?)
  7. Vig. 62d RichardAM: I started building this for the Castaway contest over at the Forbidden Cove, but I got it finished far too early! Following the MOC above it was my first attempt at SNOT water. I think while in practice it looks better, i'll be honest, I far prefer good ol' trusty baseplates. I'm still a newbie! Will the poor pirate ever see his fellows again? His mate didn't have as many "luck" as him... You want to see more pics? Click here.
  8. I deserve to win because I am the only one to notice that that is not a Swordfish but a painted goldfish with a glued nose on it.
  9. My opinion: Very nice, Lt. De Martinet! Still a WIP so I can't comment to much, but I think this one could be a winner . Possible improvements: 1) Your ship needs more details...like nets and rope. 2) I love your fort, but if they are involved into heavy fighting some more blood and dead bodies might help. I think you also got to add some artillerymen to the firing cannons. 3) On first sight some of your minifigs don't have the best "movement stance" that is possible. Also watch out for using too many standard faces, facial expressions are an important part of contests like this one. Non-brick related advise: 1) Scenes this large would benefit from using the maximum pixrate that is allowed (800x600) 2) Your first pic will be judged, when you take your final pic choose it carefully and if I were you I would add a digital background (water and land) 3) Don't forget to add a nice story .
  10. My opinion: Great! And it really represents cruelty indeed... Even though a bit modern, I like your bathroom and sewer. Possible improvements: 1) The sewer looks too clean indeed, adding a layer of brown bricks could change that. 2) Toilets looked different in those days. This is a minor point though. Wikipedia Look at the stonen ones but replace the stone by wood. 3) Maybe you could add a window or a lantern instead of the Lion shield? (Also a minor point.) Non-brick related advise: 1) I fear some of your pics might be a bit too large (max. 800x600 or reverse), check it to be certain! 2) Add a small story (like: The pirates now tried to enter the fortress by a total different way...)and possibly a title for your MOC.
  11. My opinion: Wow...that's....amazing! Especcialy the ship and the high buildings are very beautiful and nicely detailed. And all those sigfigs that are involved are fantastic as well! Possible improvements: 1) I am missing some items: like flags, cannons,... aren't they piraty enough in your opinion? 2) The water could be a little more finished. (see Erdbeereis) 3) Where do you get the time doing all those things with Lego, for EB,...? Are you certain it stays a healthy addiction?
  12. That looks GREAT SirNadroy, I am really looking forward to the final version, and to your ship MOC and the other section(s)!
  13. Because Phes replaced it with King Kahuka's throne. (I think because the monthly schedual says so) It will be back later this night.
  14. Yes. I had them for ages and I knew it... Does anyone have them too? Or know the exact reason? (probably misprinted I guess...) I'm certain they aren't Hong Kong stuff...
  15. Hi there lloyd ! Welcome to Eurobricks, I hope you feel at home here!
  16. Pics should be resized to be eligible. And perhaps a few space between your history lines? Looks like a great MOC though, will comment more on it later since my smallband takes too long to load those heavy images (I was put on smallband today because of cellar works)
  17. Writing one for the Mark 8 is future music, and nice job Phes! They really come in handy! Did anyone else subscribe to the RSS Feeds? Any true Pirate lover would...and it's so easy!
  18. My opinion: Looks like an average-to-good MOC IMHO. With some improvements you could boost this rating up. Possible improvements: 1) Your entry has some irregularities in it, like some of the skeletons (flesh doesn't perish that fast, and if the flesh has been burned off the skeletons should be black) and the boat which has a sail that is a lot larger then the entrance to the cave. Also the gunsmoke coming out of one of the pirates' gun seems a bit overdone. 2) I would have turned around the rocks you implanted into your cave. Just don't take a pic from those other sides, after all your MOC is situated into the inside of the cove... There is still plenty of space for placing the barrels and chests. 3) You used quite a lot of standard faces. If you have more recent faces with the right expressions I suggest you use these. Non-brick related advise: 1) Some of your grammar sounds a bit unusual. Especcialy the second sentence could be done better I think. 2) Remember that it is the first pic that will be judged. IMHO you have pics that are better suited, like picture 2 and 4 (if retaken with a slightly better angle).
  19. I don't dare to count hours, but I am fairly certain five hours would be an understatement...off course I combine EB with surfing other Lego sites (Classic-Pirates, Brickshelf, Bricklink, Lego.com,...) and sites of interest (eBay, Old Glory.uk, Napoleonic-guide.net,...) Then again, I don't have a job at the time, and my studies have been put on hold till january for health reasons...so I have plenty of time . I just volunteered for some work on C-P and am working hard (sorry if I sound smuggy, just posting my intentions) to become an Academy teacher in the long run (if my skills prove worthy that is), so I will be making reviews as well which means I must rebuild some sets. Also the PTV contest demands some attention (mainly the creative critics division appeals me, and asks a lot more time then one would think!). So it looks like I will have plenty to do the coming weeks/months.
  20. Hi there Bossk, welcome to the forum! I hope you will feel welcome here. Have a great time !
  21. I really don't think that will form any problem, mates! Some people still have to resize their pictures though... (max. 800x600)
  22. I wish you the best and a very long and happy life, filled with Lego.
  23. Congrats, Capt. Kirk! A really nice creation . Now where are your PTV entries
  24. The maximum size is 800x600 Da rules Please everyone, if you still haven't, read the rules before making such statements: you could make the contestor spend time on something useless that only makes his pictures of a lesser quality... Sorry for the tone, but it is clearly stated into the rules.
  25. You still need to resize your pictures: it even loads slow on my broadband connection. If you don't, your entry will probably be disqualified... I like the improvements you made BTW.
