OK, I read enough, I am COMING TOO!

I'm new here, just want to meet everyone
Zorro replied to Sirens-of-Titan's topic in Hello! My name is...
Welcome to our happy community, Sirens-Of-Titan, I am certain you will feel right at home here. Pirates and Castle are my favourites too, although I only have time, money and space for Pirates at the moment. -
We shall remember them indeed. And let there be war... no more ! BTW, good move to include a link to The Last Post.

I was referring to the first picture which is still quite small, it is that one that will be judged(so say the rules). But it isn't that important, your entry looks fantastic already so you have more then a fair chanche of standing your ground! PS: You really shouldn't listen to everything I say, they are just suggestions...if you don't like it, don't change it (but I guess you already know that ). BTW, you're rating just went up to 9,5/10, for editing my proposed text in .

I think that would be better yes, and there are plenty of small island in the ocean, so why not ?

Welcome! I hope you will have a great time here on the Eurobricks forum. PS: If I were you, I would apply for the "LADY" status!

WOW, that is IMPRESSIVE man, and about your latest MOC that you posted above: wonderfull! (just like all those others, I downloaded the pic so I can zoom in even more and look at them in peace). way to go! Only the ammount of blue baseplates is so freakin' expensive already.

My opinion: That is a very nice and beautiful MOC, Majek, the small armory is very detailed and looks realistic. The gunpowder trail on the ground is brilliant! You get a 9/10 from me ! Possible improvements: 1) An armory made of stone without a door? I never saw that before... Therefore I suggest you add a destroyed door somewere on the ground (the Pirates forced it open). 2) I would give the cannon wheels (if you have them). I never liked them without wheels, maybe that's a personnal opinion but I think it isn't as realistic else. 3) Some other MINOR details: put a musket next to the killed/dying soldier, and maybe a shako or other hat on his head or also next to him. Give the pirate that carries a tricorne hat a plume and I would change the soldiers pants into a normal plain red one. Non-brick related advise: 1) Spelling mistakes: I advise you to change it into this: Yes that's a fuse that is burning! An explosion will follow soon ! As a sabotage action, the pirates decided to destroy the Imperial armory. 2) Why such small and tiny pictures? The maximum is 800x600 and the more pixels your pictures use, the better the quality will become!

My opinion: Well done, Erdbeereis1, this really is a very nice entry. I like the huge blood trail in the sea and your lobsters are funny too, the cave/prison is very well done and so is the "cooking table". Possible improvements: 1) I also like the sails striped. Perhaps you could add some stripes above and beneath these. The skull you've drawn isn't a problem to me. 2) Personnaly I would replace the revolver with a pistol if you have one, since that would be better to represent those times. Non-brick related advise: 1) Maybe you could "edit" some water in with your graphics software.

My opinion: Marvelous, Dreamweb, in one word: fantastic! The concept is very innovative and cruel, just the thing we are looking for in this contest. And the details of the Admiral's sleeping room are so well done, that big shark, the cloth hanger and the fireplace... . Possible improvements: 1) I agree with PrOvisorak on the following points: - There should be more blood on the bed, a human body has up to 5 liters of blood. (I do not agree with his second point, because the very most of the blood is in the remains of his body, not in his head) - The last point about the lights, I think it could be done better as well. Do you know the lantarns of the BSB or the SES? I think using them would be better (brown ones, you can find that basebrick in the old palm trees as well). 2) For the outside of the building I would add some flowers beneath the window, that way the pirate/assasin has something to lean upon when climbing the wall. 3) I would reverse the shark, so one can see its head on most pictures.

Great review, Kanal-K1. This is one of the only castle sets that actually interests me and I know for a fact this is so with a lot of other Pirates lovers as well! I only don't understand how it is possible Lego Castle made such progress while Lego Pirates lost so much of their former glamour (IMHO the new Pirates sets look good, but not good enough considering the time they had to develop them and to use new technology). Anyhows: fantastic work !

a little question about aquaraiders
Zorro replied to Guss's topic in LEGO Action and Adventure Themes
Just make your own review Guss , even when there already exists one, that really isn't the slightiest problem at all, people often like to hear the opinion of more then one customer that bought the set thet are looking for. Congrats on aquiring this set BTW, although aquaraiders aren't really my thing, I must admit the bricks and minifigs of those sets can be used in an excellent way to build/construct some modern pirates. -
As usual, this MOC is awesome! I think the interior where the "Forest King" and his men are eating looks like one of the best castle interiors I have seen in quite some time. The small tower on the Forest Castle looks neat as well and so do the wooden pallisades around the fortress. and keep building!

I would put some tiles (flat bricks without dots) on certain bricks to make them look more smoothly. I would put tiles on the entrance (the small black lines) and perhaps even the roof, but only few people would have enough tiles to tile the entire roof... And yes, its always hard to find a place where you can construct a chimney, especcialy with this realistical method of roofing. Overall this is a wonderful MOC though, and I really think you have a lot of talent .

Oh yeah, and I just think of something else: how many CANNONS does Brickbeards ship have? I can see three (2 in the mid + 1 one the bridge ???) Is that correct or does it have five cannons?
-
I didn't hear anything about a rerelease of the Wild West/cowboy sets yet, and I doubt there will be one for 2009 or even 2010, but I am nearly 100% certain it will be released again in the future, its just too much a classic for that. And I think the Wild West sets are reasonably priced on eBay. For now, at least...

Phred, I couldn't agree with you more! I really want to see a large imperial ship as well, preferrably one with the size of a pirate ship (2 or 3 midsection hulls and 4 cannon). That is something that is just missing in the Pirates lines, both old and new. And I truly believe it would sell as hot pancakes!

My opinion: Looks reasonable, Infomaniac. The SNOT base is made very well and the theme is kinda cruel but not that much. Make some improvements and it will be a lot better already! Possible improvements: 1) Make the captain look more like a captain, do you have any epaulettes? At least try to let him look into the lens, I think that will be better. 2) Put some red tiles (1x1) or other red bricks on the "floor", this represents blood that comes from the poor redcoats back... Non-brick related advise: 1) REDUCE THE PIXEL SIZE: max. 800x600 or entries wil be disqualified!

O Yeah, that's really looking good! Thanks for the pics, Lego12, we can always use more of these BTW. Congrats on buying the Island and Soldiers Fort.

Ok, Paul Cantu, you have REALLY showed us your magnificent MOC qualities and this is just another example of it. Some possible improvements: 1) I can look inside the mansion, a VERY good thing. BUT: Why does there grow grass inside? Personnaly I would prefer a wooden floor. Stone is an option, but grass? 2) Adding a chimney would make it look more realistic. 3) Where's the governor? Maybe he is somewhere but I can't see him and I think this is part of the story so I suggest adding him as well (or make him better visible). 4) A bit more tiling on the building itself might look better as well, especcialy because this is such a large MOC. 5) I would remove the third picture since it looks a bit messy from above, I suggest that you take one from another angle. PS: I would use the fourth picture as the one to be judged. It appeals me the most and one can look inside as well, what offers you some amazing possibilities like showing the governor protecting his family or trying to flee with his gold and belongings.

My opinion: Very good entry, but I lack some originality in the MOC itself (that last picture of you was original and pretty cool as well though)! The buildings look great, but they don't look like they are (being?) plundered. Making some small improvements will certainly boost your chanche to win! Possible improvements: 1) Although it looks like a "village that is being pillaged", I would try to represent the cruelty involved even better: so maybe you could add some soldiers that are defending their home (or died defending it), and perhaps some blood and/or bodyparts lying around the streets... not too much, don't overdo it either! 2) I do not like the big brown bricks you used to represent large barrels, I think the standard barrels are better suited, and they come in large too! (MINOR point) 3) Some details could be finished better: like the pirate faces are sometimes disturbingly standard, if you have more faces with better expressions I would not hesitate to add them (if not, no problem: forget I ever said this)! Also small things like all those doors that are closed (they should be opened or even destroyed by the pirates!) and some additional equipment like epaulettes, plumes and headgear could improve the overall rating. (MINOR points) Non-brick related advise: 1) Personnaly I would replace the first picture with the third (or even better: with an enhanced, enlarged one like the third).

Enjoy yourself here on Eurobricks, Professor. I hope you will feel yourself at home here!
-
My opinion: Looks very good, Paul Cantu, if this is used as a background, I am really looking forward to the battle! Possible improvements: 1) Do you have a chimney? In those days that was a real neccesity! 2) As erdbeereis1 suggested, you could add some more tiles. Not much more to add...(yet). Keep up the good work!

Hi, I found this when surfing on Flickr, I don't think someone posted this before, but I could be wrong of course... This new 2009 "builder set" has a nice Pirate minifig (a Captain?)+ accessories (I can see a cutlass) plus bricks you can use to build a ship and some fish with, or a small island and some other stuff. The box says there are 5 ideas and 3 instructions included! It belongs to a series for children aged 4-7 (and older ), there are also a castle (soldier + little castle)and a city themed (firefighter + engine) builder set, they contain one minifig each plus a reasonable ammount of bricks, and the instructions include multiple building options. It looks a bit childish for AFOLs but maybe it could be used for bricks or something, anyway: I wanted to show this to you guys and girls. Remember: this builder set does not belong to the actual "Pirates" line, but to the "builders sets" line.
